Why choose a non-insulated roller door?
There are various different benefits to having a roller shutter garage door in comparison with the traditional up & over garage door or a sectional garage door.
Unlike the up & over garage door, a roller shutter door does not swing out when opening. It simply moves vertically up into a roll and requires very little room. This gives you both more space on the driveway and more headroom/storage space inside the garage where an up & over garage door would usually rest when open.
The Gliderol roller shutter garage door can ideally be installed behind the structural opening and could be installed inbetween but requires a structural face to install the curtain guides to and remember if you install inbetween you are usually underneath the support lintel and have to accomodate at least 430mm of curtain roll, reducing the drive through height considerably.
As this roller door is non-insulated, it has a small profile structure which makes it lightweight and very easy to use. This enables the roller shutter to open and close reliably with minimal noise, friction, effort and ensures reliable performance is given at all times.
Ideal For All Shapes & Sizes
Due to the adaptable nature of the Gliderol Roller Shutter, it can be installed in a variety of ways. It can be installed:
- Between the opening (with a sub frame)
- Behind the opening (usual installation)
This gives it the freedom and flexibility to be installed almost anywhere regardless of the shape of the opening. Single and double garage door sizes are covered meaning almost all requirements can be met. This makes it highly practical for owners of 4x4 vehicles or similar cars of a large nature who otherwise find problems driving into their garage. If you are a bit tight on internal headroom then take a look at the Gliderol 'mini' roller door which has a much smaller roll and is available up to 3 metres wide.

Due to the minimal friction this garage door requires, a Gliderol Roller Shutter needs very little maintenance. Oiling and greasing for long term effective use becomes history, and all is needed is a simple wipe down of the guide rails and door surface occasionally and you keep rolling!!

The Gliderol Roller Shutter demonstrates fine examples of both strength and style. It is designed with a strong unique profile which provides security against the threat of intruders. An aluminium bottom rail offers further corrosion protection and works well with the double-sided locking system - this can be operated using the optional manual handle. An option is also available with the winlock guides for added stability and security where required on larger double doors. The curtain is held firmly into the optional winlock guides by nylon sections running with the door curtain in the special shaped guides preventing the curtain from being forced out from the guides.
