CarTeck 40mm Luxe Traditional Side Hinged Garage Doors
The CarTeck Luxe Traditional Standard Ribbed Vertical is a side hinged garage door that offers a classic visual appearance with modern daily performance. Built with a traditional vertical ribbed design and a standard 50/50 split, it echoes the look of classic timber doors but is constructed from high specification modern materials. It is a highly practical option for those using their garage as a workshop, home office or general extra living space.
Insulated for Extra Living Space
If you use your garage as an extra room, keeping the temperature stable is essential. These doors are built using 40mm thick double skin steel panels filled with a rigid foam core. This construction provides excellent insulation against both cold and external noise, making the internal space noticeably warmer and more comfortable year round. Because they function as traditional doors, you can simply open one door leaf for quick pedestrian access. This is perfect when you just need to pop in and out, as it completely minimises heat loss compared to opening an entire up and over door.
Strong and Secure Construction
With the more robust 40mm insulated panel construction comes enhanced security. The doors are secured with a multi point locking system, along with sturdy flush shoot bolts holding the inactive door leaf firmly in place. The fixing frame itself is made from strong aluminium profiles featuring concealed hinges, creating a highly rigid complete doorset that offers excellent overall resistance against forced entry.
Extensive UK Colour Options
When it comes to matching the visual appearance of your property, you have access to a massive range of finishes. You can choose from a huge selection of colours specifically designed to suit UK homes, giving you more relevant options than any other manufacturer on the market. Whether you need a traditional shade to blend with older brickwork or a modern grey for a new build, there are plenty of options to get the perfect match for your property.
Made to Measure Complete Doorset
These are supplied as a complete factory assembled doorset rather than loose door leaves needing a separate frame. The aluminium fixing sub frame, door panels, hardware and built in weather seals are all pre fitted and aligned in the factory, making the final installation process much more straightforward. They are made to measure as standard at no extra cost, meaning you can order exact sizes to fit your opening perfectly. With overall frame widths available right up to 3500mm, they work exceptionally well for wider single garages where standard sizes simply do not fit correctly.
Glazing Options and Practical Upgrades
When converting a garage into a usable room, a few practical details make a big difference. As this model features traditional glazed top sections as standard, you get plenty of natural daylight while keeping the doors locked and secure, which is ideal for a home gym or office. To get the right balance of light and privacy for your specific space, you can choose between clear, frosted or satin glazing. Door stays are another option to consider, especially relevant on 50/50 split doors, to stop the wind catching the door leaves when you have them open to air the room out. For the bottom of the door, keeping draughts and rain away is vital. The doors come with different threshold options to suit your floor type, but please bear in mind a level floor is essential for the best results and the tightest weather seal.

If you then proceed to place an order, simply enter your exact required dimensions at the checkout stage.
1. Panel and Frame Colour
Choose your preferred finish from the extensive CarTeck colour palette, widely recognised as one of the best standard colour ranges available on the market today. Chosen specifically with the latest architectural trends in mind, these colours are perfectly suited to complement most UK homes. There are 39 colours available in the standard Trend and Trend+ ranges, all included in the base price of the door. Beyond these, there are several premium upgrade options available:
- Wood Effect Finishes: 4 realistic woodgrain laminate options for a natural timber appearance on a maintenance-free insulated steel door. For wood effect colour options, please go to the wood effect model options in our shop.
- Trend Satin Range: A brand new collection of 6 paint finishes with a refined 10% gloss content, offering a softer, more contemporary look compared to the standard 30% gloss of the Trend and Trend+ paints.
- Any RAL Colour: If none of the standard or Satin colours suit your project, you can specify any RAL colour to perfectly match your property.
- Coastal Paint Upgrade: If your property is located near the coast, we strongly recommend considering our special coastal paint upgrade for enhanced protection against salt air corrosion.
Please call or email us for full details and pricing on the Trend Satin, any RAL colour, or coastal paint upgrade options.
2. External Panel Texture
Choose from 4 external panel texture finishes to complement your chosen colour and property style. The texture applies to the outer face of the door panels and affects both the look and feel of the finished door.
3. Leading Door Leaf
Select whether the leading (first opening) door leaf is on the left-hand side or the right-hand side, as viewed from outside the garage looking in. Consider which side you will most frequently use for pedestrian access when making your choice.
4. Panel Split
This Traditional design is supplied exclusively as a 50/50 equal panel split, giving a balanced, symmetrical appearance across the full width of the opening.
5. Threshold Options
Choose from 2 standard threshold options included in the door specification. The threshold sits across the full width of the opening at floor level and provides a seal against weather and debris.
- Additional threshold options are available, including deep threshold profiles designed for garages where no vehicle access is required and a superior floor seal is the priority.
- Please email or call us for details and pricing on non-standard threshold options.
6. Handle and Locking Options
A stainless steel lever/lever handle set is fitted as standard on these doors. If you would like to upgrade, there are 8 alternative handle options available, each paired with a 3-point hook locking upgrade for enhanced security.
- Standard: Stainless steel lever/lever handle with standard locking.
- Upgrade: Choose from 8 handle designs, all supplied with a 3-point hook locking mechanism.
- Bespoke: You can also supply your own door furniture and locking hardware to be fitted at the factory. This option is available on a price on application (POA) basis.
7. Window Design
Choose from 4 window design options available for this Traditional door model. Windows are integrated into the upper section of the door panels and add natural light to your garage interior while maintaining the clean lines of the Traditional panel design.
8. Window Glazing
Select your preferred glazing finish from 3 options to suit your privacy and lighting requirements:
- Clear: Maximum natural light and visibility through the windows.
- Frosted: Allows light in while obscuring the view for full privacy.
- Satin: A smooth, translucent finish that diffuses light softly while maintaining privacy.
Door Construction and Finish
The CarTeck Luxe Traditional Standard Ribbed Vertical side hinged doors are built using 40mm thick double skin steel panels with an insulated rigid foam core, held within a fully finished aluminium sub frame. The inside face of these panels is completely smooth, meaning there are no exposed bracing bars or surface mounted lock gear to gather dust. This makes the interior far easier to wipe down and keep tidy. To help brighten the inside of your garage, all doors are finished internally in a light Grey White (RAL 9002) which reflects the light nicely.
You have a choice of surface textures for the outside face of the door, including Woodgrain, Smooth, Stucco or Micro Profile, depending on the specific colour or wood effect finish you select.
Traditional Glazing and Window Finish
These doors come with attractive leaded effect windows as standard to give you that classic 1940s timber door look, which complements the main door panels perfectly. If you prefer something a bit more understated, plain clear windows are available at no extra cost. Whichever you choose, the window units are made from scratch resistant polymer double glazing, designed to let in plenty of daylight while maintaining overall panel strength and security.
The surrounds to the windows feature a smooth finish matched to the door frame, making sure the glazing, frame and door panels all blend together as a single cohesive design.
Scratch resistant polymer double glazed windows are available with either leaded effect or plain clear designs to suit your property.
Extensive Selection of 43 Finishes
You can specify these doors in a massive palette of 43 finishes. This gives you the flexibility to coordinate perfectly with your existing windows, doors and exterior finishes, whether you want a solid paint colour or a natural timber look.
Wood Effect Finishes
These highly realistic laminates offer the visual appearance of natural timber without the ongoing maintenance.
Trend Colours
Trend+ Colours
As standard, the frame legs and head are supplied smooth and white. However, on this specific model, the aluminium fixing sub frame is normally finished to match or complement your selected panel finish, giving you a completely seamless look right around the opening.
Aluminium Fixing Sub Frame
Every doorset comes factory fitted with a fully finished aluminium fixing sub frame. This ensures we get incredibly tight tolerances where the door hinges and closes, meaning fewer draughts and a much simpler installation process on site without the need for a separate timber frame. Because each doorset is made to order, we can maximise the usable clear width and height of your specific opening.
* You can specify the doors as either left or right hand leading leaf when viewed from the outside.
3 Part Threshold with Bulb Seal
A 3 part threshold system is now supplied as standard across all these side hinged garage doors. This setup incorporates a new bulb seal to give you a much better weather seal at the bottom of the door, helping to keep leaves and rain out. Because the threshold is supplied in three separate sections, it can be extended beyond the frame legs for a neater floor finish, or lined through with adjacent openings if you need to. If you need extended lengths, these are available on request.
Click here for further information on the threshold options.

Locking, Hardware and Security
3 Point Locking
For doors over 2020mm high, a high security 3 point locking system is available. This locks the active door leaf at multiple points along its height, providing much stronger resistance against forced entry.
Lock Cylinder Security Upgrade
The Euro profile cylinder has been upgraded to provide higher security while making it easier for you to obtain replacement keys locally. The practical benefits include:
- BS EN1303 Cylinder Security Grade 2 for peace of mind
- Anti drill and anti pick internal design
- 3 keys supplied as standard in the box
- Built in break off system, meaning a sacrificial front section snaps away under attack but leaves enough cylinder in place for you to still operate the lock with your key

Handles and General Hardware
The high grade stainless steel handles and lock covers are tough enough for daily use while keeping a very attractive finish. The included hardware features:
- DIN standard CE marked European sash lock
- Pair of stainless steel round bar lever handles on 50mm diameter roses
- Euro profile cylinder and internal thumb turn with stainless steel escutcheons as standard
- Recessed lever action flush bolts at the top and bottom of the inactive leaf for secure locking
- Door stays fitted to each leaf to securely hold the door open while you are in and out
* A double cylinder with key access on both sides is available as an option.
Double Seals and Mitred Corners
To really cut down on cold draughts entering your garage, there is a continuous seal right around the circumference of each door leaf, backed up by an additional three sided seal on the frame itself. The frame profiles are mitre jointed at the corners, which leaves you with a very clean and precise final finish.
Concealed Hinges
As part of the latest product developments, these side hinged doors now use concealed hinges as standard. Moving the hinges out of sight brings several practical advantages to your doors:
- Easier trimming and finishing around the frame because there are no surface mounted hinge knuckles getting in the way at the edge
- Quicker alignment and adjustment during installation, as only two hinges per leaf are required
- A sleeker, more contemporary visual appearance from the outside
- Improved security by removing a visible point of attack, making it far harder to lever the door open from the hinge side
* These upgraded hinges come at no additional cost compared to the previous traditional hinge designs.
See the Installation tab for a video showing how to adjust a concealed hinge.

Installation Guidance – Made to Measure as Standard
Every CarTeck 40mm Luxe Traditional side hinged garage door is made to measure as standard. This means the doorset is manufactured to your exact brickwork opening sizes (allowing for the correct fitting tolerances), so you are not trying to “make do” with a standard size. You benefit from maximum clear opening width and height, tighter seals and a far neater finished appearance.
1. Measuring Before You Order
Before ordering, carefully measure the structural brickwork opening width and height in at least three places (top, middle, bottom for width; left, centre, right for height). Use the smallest measurements and check that the reveals and lintel are reasonably plumb and level. These clear opening sizes are what you provide for your made to measure doorset – the factory will calculate the finished frame sizes and tolerances from these figures.
2. Delivered as a Complete Doorset
CarTeck Luxe side hinged doors are supplied as a fully assembled doorset. The aluminium fixing frame, door leaves, hinges, locks, seals and glazing are all factory fitted and pre-aligned. This eliminates the need to hang door leaves separately on site. Once unpacked, the frame and doors are lifted into the opening as one unit, making installation faster, cleaner and more predictable.
3. Fitting the Aluminium Sub Frame
With the old garage door and frame removed and the opening cleaned back to sound masonry, the new aluminium frame is positioned into the reveal. Use packers and a spirit level to ensure the frame is perfectly plumb, level and square, then drill and fix through the pre-designated fixing points into the brickwork. Check the operation of both leaves as you go and make minor hinge or latch adjustments if required.
4. Threshold & Final Sealing
The supplied 3-part threshold is then positioned and fixed in line with the frame legs, creating a continuous base for the bulb seal and improving weather protection at floor level. Because it is in three pieces, you can extend it slightly beyond the frame legs for a neat transition to adjacent paving or doorways. Finally, any small gaps between frame and brickwork are neatly sealed with a suitable external grade sealant or trim.
5. Post-Installation Checks
Once installed, check that:
- Both leaves open and close freely without fouling the floor or reveals.
- The locks engage smoothly and the compression seals make consistent contact all round.
- The stays hold the doors open securely at the desired angle.
Because these doors are factory assembled and made to measure, a competent installer or experienced DIYer can achieve an excellent, professional result with far less time and adjustment than a traditional, site-built timber door and frame.

CarTeck Side Hinged Garage Doors Warranty
CarTeck insulated side hinged garage doors are manufactured by Carteck/Teckentrup to the highest standards and are backed by a comprehensive, long-term manufacturer’s guarantee for complete peace of mind. The warranty periods apply to doors that have been correctly installed, maintained and cleaned in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
10-Year Manufacturer’s Guarantee
- • On panels against rust penetration from the inside to the outside.
- • Against door panel separation of the steel skins from the inner foam core.
- • On material and manufacturing flaws of all non-moving parts of the frame that are verifiably unusable.
- • On the floor seal, intermediate seals and frame weather seals against rotting.
5-Year Manufacturer’s Guarantee
- • On factory paint finishes against peeling and blistering (excluding normal colour fade and excluding coastal locations). Note: A specific 3 year guarantee applies to coastal installations, providing the door was ordered with the official coastal paint upgrade.
2-Year Manufacturer’s Guarantee
- • On all hardware and moving components, including window units, hinges, locks, handles and door stays (based on standard use of up to 5 open/close cycles per day).
Please note: The guarantee does not apply to doors that are subjected to extreme conditions, such as corrosive influences resulting from use in a coastal climate with high salt content, unless the relevant coastal paint upgrades were specified at the point of order. Regular cleaning of the door finish is required to maintain the warranty.
Measuring for your CarTeck 40mm Luxe Traditional side hinged garage door is a straightforward process. These fully insulated doors are completely made to measure and supplied factory assembled with their sub fixing frame and hardware already fitted, ensuring a fast and simple installation. The entire unit is designed to be installed directly in between your structural garage opening.
Step 1: Measure the Structural Opening Width
Take the width measurement from brickwork to brickwork inside the structural opening.
- Measure the width in three distinct places: at the top, the middle, and the bottom of the opening.
- Record the smallest of these three dimensions. This becomes your definitive structural opening width.
Step 2: Measure the Structural Opening Height
Take the height measurement from the floor directly to the underside of the lintel.
- Measure the height in three places: on the left, in the middle, and on the right side of the opening.
- Record the smallest of these three dimensions to determine your definitive structural opening height.
Step 3: Calculate Your Ordering Size
Because the door and its pre-fitted frame sit inside the opening, you must allow for a fitting tolerance. The manufacturer recommends a minimum tolerance of 10mm all around to ensure the frame fits comfortably without being forced.
- Ordering Width: Deduct 20mm from your smallest structural opening width, which allows for a 10mm gap on both the left and right sides.
- Ordering Height: Deduct 10mm from your smallest structural opening height to allow a gap at the top.
The resulting dimensions are your Overall Frame Size, which is the exact measurement you will use when placing your order.
Step 4: Check Floor Levels and Squareness
The garage floor level is a critical factor because standard CarTeck side-hinged doors open outwards.
- Use a spirit level to check that the driveway is completely flat or falls away from the garage opening. Ensure the ground does not rise up and obstruct the outward swing of the door leaves.
- The door features a 3-part stepped aluminium threshold as standard, which requires a sound, level surface across the full width of the opening to sit correctly and provide an effective weather seal.
- Check how square and true your brickwork is. If the opening is visibly out of square or the stonework is particularly rough, you may need to increase your fitting tolerances (deducting more than 10mm) to ensure the pre-squared frame will fit within the space.
Please allow for any tolerances you require in the ordering dimensions and the doors will be manufactured to the exact dimensions specified.
