Control Your Garage Door From Anywhere

The included Somfy Connectivity Kit allows you to control your garage door through the free TaHoma app on a compatible smartphone or tablet. Check and operate your door whether you are at home, at work or away from the property, provided your smartphone and home system have an internet connection.

Multiple family smartphones can be connected, so everyone who needs access can operate the door without relying solely on a remote handset. You still receive two Somfy remote handsets as standard for quick and convenient use from the vehicle or driveway.

The Connectivity Kit can also control up to 20 compatible Somfy RTS and io homecontrol products. This could include compatible blinds, shutters, awnings, lighting, gates and other Somfy motorised equipment, all managed through the TaHoma app.

Voice control may also be available through a compatible Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant setup.

Smart Control Without the Complexity

This model includes Somfy Connectivity Kit control, giving you practical smartphone and voice assistant access without the added complexity of a full smart home hub.

It is ideal if you want to control your garage door remotely, add access for family members and connect selected Somfy RTS or io products. The Connectivity Kit supports manual scenes in the TaHoma app, but does not offer the scheduled and advanced automation available with the Somfy TaHoma Switch.

Premium Somfy Rollixo Control and Security

The GDO SmartRoll 77 Premium uses the Somfy Rollixo Premium RTS control system. The wall mounted control panel includes built in open and close buttons, diagnostic indicators and an automatic timed courtesy light for convenient use inside the garage.

Two Somfy Keygo 4 RTS remote handsets are included as standard. These compact rolling code remotes provide dependable everyday control from your vehicle or driveway.

An integrated anti lift alarm helps protect the door when closed. If an attempt is made to force or lift the curtain, the system sounds an audible alarm to alert you to possible tampering.

Advanced Safety and Auto Close

The GDO SmartRoll 77 Premium is supplied with a wired optical safety edge in the bottom weather seal. If the door detects an obstacle while closing, it stops and automatically reverses to help protect people, vehicles and property.

Infrared safety beams are also included as standard. These monitor the garage opening while the door closes and provide an additional layer of protection for app based operation and smart control functions.

With the infrared safety beams fitted and correctly commissioned, the door can be configured to close automatically after a pre-set time once it has fully opened. This is useful when you want added reassurance that the garage door is not accidentally left open.

Full Hood Included at Every Size

Every GDO SmartRoll 77 Premium door includes a full powder coated aluminium box hood as standard, at every available size. There is no separate hood upgrade to add.

The full hood encloses the curtain roll, steel barrel and operating components, apart from the opening where the curtain enters the side guides. It creates a smart, fully finished appearance while helping protect the mechanism from dust, wind blown debris, accidental contact and weather exposure.

Strong, Insulated Construction

The GDO SmartRoll 77 uses 77mm deep, double skinned aluminium slats with an insulated foam filled core. This creates a strong, insulated roller garage door curtain that rolls compactly above the opening, helping preserve useful garage space.

Made to Measure Sizes

The GDO SmartRoll 77 Premium is available up to 5200mm wide, including the side guides, and up to 2900mm guide height. Allow approximately 300mm above the guide height for the curtain roll, endplates and full hood enclosure.

Doors up to 3000mm wide use 75mm side guides. Doors over 3000mm wide use 90mm guides, reducing the clear opening width by 180mm compared with the overall ordering width.

Manual Override and Access

An internal manual winding handle is supplied as standard for use during a power cut. It connects to the motor drive and allows the door to be operated manually from inside the garage.

Choose the motor, power cable and manual override position on the left or right side when viewed from inside the garage. If your garage does not have a separate pedestrian entrance, select the optional low level external manual release to allow access and manual operation from outside during a power failure.

Included Control and Access

This GDO ROLL77 model is supplied complete with the internal Genesis wall-mounted control panel and an external surface-mounted key switch as standard. This gives you secure, hard-wired control from both inside and outside without needing remote handsets:

• Genesis Control Panel (Internal): Mounted inside the garage, this panel provides clear push-button controls for everyday use, featuring single-touch opening and hold-to-run closing for safe, compliant operation.

• External Key Switch (Included): A robust, weatherproof wall-mounted key switch lets you open and close the door directly from the driveway using supplied security keys—ideal for regular vehicle access or garages without a side door.

• Additional Internal Push Button (Optional): You can add a secondary internal push button wired back to the Genesis control panel if you want an extra control point elsewhere in the garage.

Manual Override and External Release

Every GDO ROLL77 is supplied with an internal emergency manual override as standard. In the event of a power cut, simply hook the supplied winding handle into the motor eye to wind the door open or closed by hand from inside.

* Important: If your garage has no separate pedestrian side door and the roller door is your only way in, you must select the external manual low-level release. This allows you to engage the manual override from the outside during a power failure.

Hood Cover Options

As standard, this door is supplied with no hood cover (open roll), which is ideal when installing fully behind the lintel where the roll is concealed. If fitting within the reveal or externally, an optional hood cover provides essential protection and a neat finish:

• Half Hood Cover: Provides an aluminium fascia covering the top and front of the roll. Perfect for cloaking the mechanism when viewed from outside if installed under a shallow lintel.

• Full Hood Cover: Fully encloses the curtain roll and mechanism in a 90° aluminium box, protecting the components from dirt, leaves, and weather. Essential for external installations.

Configuring Your Final Details

• Installation Position: Choose Behind the Opening (Face Fix) for maximum drive-through width and height, or Inbetween the Opening (Reveal Fix) if internal headroom or sideroom is restricted.

• Motor & Override Handing: Select left-hand or right-hand side (as viewed from inside the garage) for the motor drive, manual override eye, and power connection to match your electrical supply.

This model is supplied with the Somfy Rollixo Premium RTS control system. The wall mounted control panel includes integrated open and close buttons, diagnostic LED indicators and an automatic timed courtesy light for convenient use inside the garage.

The Rollixo Premium system also includes an integrated anti lift alarm. When the door is closed, the system monitors the curtain and sounds an audible alarm if an attempt is made to force or lift the door.

The supplied Somfy Connectivity Kit allows you to control the garage door from a compatible smartphone or tablet using the Somfy app. Once connected to your home WiFi network, you can check and operate the door whether you are at home or away.

Safety Systems and Auto Close

The bottom slat is manufactured from extruded aluminium and fitted with a rubber weather seal containing an optical safety edge. If the closing door detects an obstacle on contact, it stops and automatically reverses to help protect people, vehicles and property.

Infrared safety beams are included as standard on this SmartRoll 77 Premium model. The beams monitor the garage opening while the door is closing and provide an additional layer of protection for smartphone operation and automated control functions.

When the infrared safety beams are fitted, aligned and tested correctly, the door can be configured to close automatically after a pre-set period once it has fully opened. This provides added reassurance that the garage door is not accidentally left open.

Full Hood Enclosure Included

Every GDO SmartRoll 77 Premium door includes a full powder coated aluminium box hood as standard, at every available size.

The full hood encloses the curtain roll, steel barrel and operating components, apart from the opening where the curtain travels into the side guides. It provides a smart, fully finished appearance and helps protect the mechanism from dust, wind blown debris, accidental contact and weather exposure.

The full hood and heavy duty brush lined side guides are supplied in the same Signature Colour as the curtain for a fully coordinated finish.

Roll, Endplates and Headroom

The curtain rolls around a durable steel barrel supported by steel endplates on each side. Allow approximately 300mm above the guide height for the curtain roll, endplates and full hood enclosure.

When the door is fully open, allow up to 110mm for the bottom slat to hang down within the guides. This is important where maximum clear drive through height is required for a vehicle, roof box or stored equipment.

Guides, Sizes and Clear Openings

Your ordering size is stated as Over Guide Width (OGW) x Guide Height (GH). Over Guide Width is the total width of the curtain and both side guides combined.

The aluminium side guides are approximately 34mm deep and supplied in one of two widths, depending on the overall door width. Always allow for the side guides, full hood, endplates and required fixing space when checking your garage opening.

The maximum overall door width, including guides, is 5200mm. The maximum guide height is 2900mm. At the maximum guide height, allow approximately 300mm above the guides for the curtain roll, endplates and full hood, creating an overall height of around 3200mm.

The maximum door width at the maximum 2900mm guide height is 4600mm.

Fitting Positions

Between the Opening

The door is fitted within the structural opening. This provides a recessed appearance, but the side guides reduce the available clear opening width and the bottom slat hang down reduces the available clear opening height.

Behind the Opening

The door is fitted to the wall face behind the structural opening. This is the most popular fitting position because it provides the maximum available clear opening width and height.

Behind opening fitting can also be used for external installation. In this situation, the motor handing and curtain orientation are reversed. The included full hood provides protection for the curtain roll and operating components.

Manual Override and External Access

An internal manual winding handle is supplied as standard for use during a power cut. It connects to the motor drive and allows the door to be operated manually from inside the garage.

Choose the motor, power cable and manual override position on the left or right side when viewed from inside the garage.

Before You Start

The GDO SmartRoll 77 Premium is designed for installation by a competent DIY installer or experienced tradesperson. Every door is made to measure, but accurate surveying and correct fitting are essential for safe, reliable operation.

Before starting, confirm that the garage opening is square, the floor is level, the fixing surfaces are structurally sound and there is sufficient side room and headroom for the guides, endplates and full hood enclosure.

Safety note: At least two people are required to safely lift and position the curtain, barrel and motor assembly. Take particular care when working at height, handling heavy components and completing electrical connections.

Space Required

Allow approximately 300mm above the guide height for the curtain roll, steel barrel, endplates and full aluminium hood enclosure.

For behind opening fitting, ensure there is enough solid wall or frame material on each side of the opening to securely fix the guide rails:

• Doors up to 3000mm wide: Allow at least 75mm of suitable fixing surface on each side.
• Doors over 3000mm wide: Allow at least 90mm of suitable fixing surface on each side.

Check the location of the mains power supply before starting. The Somfy Rollixo Premium control panel, Somfy Connectivity Kit and all electrical connections must be installed in a dry, protected internal location.

Installation Positions

Behind the Opening

Behind opening fitting, also known as internal face fitting, is the most popular and generally recommended installation position. The side guides are fixed to the inside wall face behind the brickwork piers.

This position provides the maximum possible clear drive through width and height. The included full hood encloses the curtain roll, barrel and operating components for a neat, finished appearance inside the garage.

Between the Opening

Between opening fitting, also known as reveal fitting, positions the guides inside the structural opening beneath the lintel. This can create a recessed appearance, but the side guides reduce the available clear opening width and the bottom slat hang down reduces the available clear opening height.

The included full hood provides a fully finished enclosure around the curtain roll and barrel, helping create a neat installation where the roll may be visible from outside.

External Face Fit

External face fitting positions the door on the outside wall face of the garage. This can be useful where internal headroom or internal fixing space is limited.

For external fitting, the curtain orientation and motor handing are reversed. The full hood enclosure is essential for protecting the curtain roll, barrel and operating components from weather, wind blown debris and accidental contact.

Installation Overview

The following is a general guide only. Refer to the QR code and the instructions supplied with your door for the complete sequence, component-specific details, wiring diagram and Somfy programming procedure.

1. Check the delivery: Confirm all items are present and undamaged, including the full hood sections, side guides, endplates, barrel and motor assembly, curtain, Somfy Rollixo Premium control panel, Connectivity Kit, infrared safety beams, optical safety edge components, remote handsets and accessories.
2. Prepare the opening: Check that the floor is level, the opening is square and free from obstructions, and the masonry, timber or steelwork is suitable for secure fixing.
3. Prepare the guides: Mark and pre-drill the guides as required for the chosen installation position and fixing surface.
4. Fit the guides and hood components: Position the side guides, endplates and full hood sections. Check that the guides are plumb and the endplates are level before fully tightening all fixings.
5. Install the barrel and motor: Position the Somfy motor on the selected side and secure the steel barrel and safety brake between the endplates, following the supplied instructions.
6. Fit the curtain: Carefully feed the insulated aluminium curtain into the guide rails and attach it to the barrel using the supplied locking straps or fixings.
7. Install the manual override: Fit the manual override eye and confirm that the winding handle can be used safely from inside the garage during a power cut.
8. Install the safety systems: Connect the wired optical safety edge and install the infrared safety beams in their specified positions. Check that the beam path is clear, aligned and securely fixed.
9. Install the Rollixo control panel: Mount the Somfy Rollixo Premium control panel inside the garage in a dry, protected location. Connect the motor, optical safety edge, infrared beams and mains supply exactly as shown in the supplied wiring diagram.
10. Set the motor limits: Set the fully open and fully closed travel limits using the method shown in the supplied instructions.
11. Connect the Somfy Connectivity Kit: Position the Connectivity Kit indoors within range of your home WiFi network. Follow the TaHoma app instructions to connect the kit, pair the garage door and add authorised smartphone users.
12. Test the complete system: Test the remote handsets, Rollixo control panel buttons, courtesy light, alarm, manual override, optical safety edge, infrared beams and smartphone control before normal use.

Somfy Controls and Connectivity Kit

The Somfy Rollixo Premium control panel and Connectivity Kit are not weatherproof. They must be installed inside the garage or in a suitably rated weatherproof enclosure if the door is externally fitted.

The Connectivity Kit must be connected to a suitable home WiFi network to enable smartphone control through the TaHoma app. Use the app setup process to pair the door and add authorised users.

The supplied Somfy Keygo remote handsets can be programmed during commissioning. Keep all remotes and smartphone access under the control of authorised users only.

Safety Beam Checks

The wired optical safety edge and infrared safety beams must be fitted, aligned and tested before using smartphone control, auto close settings or any automated smart function.

When the optical safety edge contacts an obstruction during closing, the door should stop and automatically reverse. When the infrared beam path is interrupted, the door should not close or should stop closing, depending on the control setting and installation configuration.

Do not enable automatic closing until the safety edge and infrared beams have been successfully tested in accordance with the supplied instructions.

Final Checks

Before placing the door into normal service, check that all fixings are secure, the full hood is correctly fitted, the curtain moves smoothly, the motor limits are correctly set and the door closes evenly against the floor.

Confirm that the anti lift alarm, remote handsets, control panel buttons, manual override, optical safety edge, infrared safety beams and app control all operate correctly.
