GDO ROLL77 Electric Push Button Insulated Roller Garage Door (3 Standard Colours)

Simple, Hard Wired Electric Operation

This GDO ROLL77 model is all about straightforward, reliable everyday use. It uses a simple internal wall mounted rocker switch with “hold to run” operation, so you just press and hold one button to open and another to close. There are no remote controls to lose, no batteries to replace and no complex electronics to set up, making it ideal if you only open the garage door occasionally or always enter the garage on foot rather than driving in.

Perfect for Garages Used on Foot

If your garage is integral to your home or mainly used as a store, workshop, gym or utility space, this door makes perfect sense. You get the convenience of powered opening and closing without paying for remote control features you may never use. As long as you can see the door while operating the switch, the hold to run control keeps the door fully compliant with current safety requirements, without the need for infra red beams or bottom edge safety sensors.

Made to Measure as Standard

Every GDO ROLL77 electric push button door is made to measure for a neat, accurate fit. You simply choose the nearest “up to” size from the drop down to select your price band, then enter your exact required width and height in the boxes provided. The door is then manufactured to the millimetre, helping to maximise weather sealing, improve security and give a clean, professional finish inside and out.

Strong, Insulated Roller Curtain

The door curtain is constructed from 77mm deep, double skinned aluminium slats with a foam filled core, giving excellent strength, insulation and a smooth, quiet door action. This insulated design helps to reduce draughts and temperature swings inside the garage, making it more comfortable to use as an extra room and helping to protect items stored inside from condensation and extreme cold.

Manual Override for Peace of Mind

In the event of a power cut, the GDO ROLL77 includes an internal manual override system as standard. A supplied winding handle hooks onto the eye of the motor drive so you can simply wind the door open or closed from inside the garage. You can choose whether this manual override is located on the left or right hand side as viewed from inside, to best suit the layout of your garage.

Clean, Modern Colour Choices

This version of the GDO ROLL77 is offered in three popular standard curtain colours that suit most modern homes and keep the overall price as competitive as possible:

  • White (RAL 9016)
  • Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016)
  • Black (RAL 9005)

The guides are supplied in a matching white, black or anthracite finish when ordered, creating a smart, coordinated appearance around the opening without the need to upgrade to premium colours.

Flexible Fitting Options

The GDO ROLL77 can be fitted behind or inbetween the structural opening, giving flexibility to suit different garage constructions. Fitting behind the opening maximises the clear drive-through width and height and is often the best choice where vehicles or taller items need to pass through regularly. For doors fitted externally or in more exposed positions, you can add a full hood cover to fully enclose and protect the roll and mechanism from the weather.

How to Order Your Made to Measure Door

Ordering your GDO ROLL77 is very simple. First, measure your garage opening and select the nearest next size up as an “up to” size from the drop down menu. This sets your price band. You then enter your exact required width and height in the boxes provided so the door can be manufactured to the precise millimetre for your opening.

Choose Your Standard Colour

This model is supplied in three popular standard curtain colours, chosen to suit most UK homes while keeping costs competitive:

  • White (RAL 9016)
  • Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016)
  • Black (RAL 9005)

The guides are supplied in a matching white, black or anthracite finish when ordered, creating a clean, coordinated appearance around the opening.

Configure Your Door Options

After selecting your size and curtain colour, work through the remaining options to tailor the door to your garage and how you use it:

  • Hood cover (if available on this model): Choose a half hood to neatly cover the front and top of the roll, or a full hood to fully enclose and protect the roll and mechanism, especially useful for external or exposed installations.
  • Guide colours: Select matching guides to your chosen curtain colour for a uniform look, or contrasting guides if this option is offered in your configuration.
  • Installation position: Choose to fit the door behind the opening (recommended for maximum clear width and height) or inbetween the opening where required by your garage structure.
  • Motor side: Decide which side you want the electric motor, manual override and power cable to be situated on when viewed from inside the garage, to suit your socket position and access.
  • External manual override (if needed): Specify if you require a separate external manual override access, which is important if there is no other way into the garage in the event of a power cut.

Construction and Insulation

Roll77 slat profile

The GDO ROLL 77 is constructed from high quality 77mm deep, double skinned aluminium slats with a foam filled core. It is a made to measure, electric operated roller garage door as standard, manufactured to the exact millimetre in both width and height.

Electric Operation and Manual Override

Hold to run rocker switch

The door is electrically operated as standard and incorporates an internal emergency manual release in case of a power failure. This is a winding process using the supplied winding handle, which attaches via a hook to the eye of the motor drive. The manual override can be specified on either the left or right side as viewed from inside the garage.

Barrel, Endplates and Headroom

The curtain rolls around a steel barrel which is supported on both sides by steel endplates measuring 300mm x 300mm. This is the headroom required if you wish to hide the roll. Always allow for up to 110mm of curtain hang down when the door is fully open if the clear opening height is critical to you. This allowance applies to all roller garage doors.

Guides, Sizes and Clear Openings

Door guides on each side are either 75mm or 90mm wide and 34mm deep. The door is ordered using the Over Guide Width (OGW), which is the total width of the curtain and both guides combined.

The door can be fitted behind or inbetween the structural opening as required, but always check you have ordered the correct dimensions to allow for the guides, endplates and any full hood cover (the hood uses the same overall dimensions).

Ordering size is specified as Over Guide Width (OGW) x Guide Height (GH).

Doors up to 3000mm wide are supplied with 75mm wide guides either side:
Clear opening width = Ordering size less 140mm
Clear opening height = Guide height (ordering size) less 110mm

Doors over 3000mm wide are supplied with 90mm wide guides either side:
Clear opening width = Ordering size less 180mm
Clear opening height = Guide height (ordering size) less 110mm
(to allow for the bottom slat hang down into the guides when the door is open)

Maximum width including guides is 5200mm.
Maximum guide height is 2900mm (total approximately 3200mm including endplates and hood) with a maximum width of 4600mm at this height.

Fitting Position

> Between the opening
> Behind the opening

Fitting behind the opening gives maximum clear width and height and allows the door to be installed in more complex openings regardless of shape. Single and double garage door sizes are catered for, making this door highly practical for owners of 4x4 vehicles or other larger cars that may otherwise struggle to access the garage. The same installation style can also be used to fit the door externally, but this will reverse the motor handing and curtain orientation.

Simple, Hard Wired Installation

The GDO ROLL77 electric push button model has been designed to be one of the easiest electric roller garage doors to install. The curtain arrives pre-assembled on the barrel, the guides are pre-formed and the hard wired wall switch keeps the electrical setup very straightforward. There is no control board programming and no remote handsets to code in, which makes it ideal for competent DIY installers or any local builder or installer.

Basic Installation Steps

  • Prepare the opening: Check your structural opening is sound, measure carefully and confirm you have ordered the correct “Over Guide Width” and guide height for either behind or inbetween fitting.
  • Fix the guides: Position the side guides plumb and level on each side of the opening, then securely fix them to the wall or frame as shown in the fitting instructions.
  • Mount the barrel and curtain: Lift the pre-assembled barrel and curtain into place, locating it on the steel endplates and fixing through the endplates into the wall or lintel, allowing approximately 300mm headroom for the roll and any hood cover.
  • Connect the power: Plug the pre-wired mains lead into a suitable 13 amp, three pin, switched socket close to the motor. Any additional fixed wiring or new socket installation should always be carried out by a qualified electrician.
  • Fit the wall switch: Mount the push button switch at a convenient height inside the garage where you can see the door clearly, then connect the low voltage control cable as per the simple wiring diagram.
  • Test operation: Check the door runs smoothly up and down using the hold to run buttons and confirm the manual override can be operated easily in case of a power cut.

Ideal for Competent DIY Installers

Because the system uses a basic hard wired switch and factory pre-assembled components, many competent DIY customers are able to fit this door themselves with standard tools. If you prefer to use a professional, any experienced installer or builder will find the GDO ROLL77 quick and straightforward to fit compared to more complex remote control roller doors.

Always follow the full GDO ROLL77 fitting and wiring instructions supplied with your door, and consult a qualified electrician for any permanent electrical work or if you are unsure about the power supply and switch wiring.
