GDO ROLL77 Electric Push Button Insulated Roller Garage Door

Manufactured exclusively in the UK by GarageDoors Online, the GDO ROLL77 range offers a new generation of insulated roller garage doors designed specifically around how you use your garage. This is the simplest and most efficient model for anyone who enters their garage on foot through a side access door rather than by vehicle.

Smart Simplicity and Everyday Reliability

The GDO ROLL77 keeps operation straightforward with a clean, wall mounted control panel featuring simple up and down buttons. Using intuitive "hold-to-run" technology, you press and hold the button until the door is fully open or closed. This system ensures full compliance with UK safety regulations while eliminating the need for remote controls, electronic sensors, or infrared beams. With fewer electronic components, the ROLL77 offers exceptional reliability, value and long term performance.

Made to Measure for the Perfect Fit

Every GDO ROLL77 door is made to measure for a perfect fit and neat installation. Available in sizes up to 5200mm wide and 2650mm high, this door comfortably covers almost all standard UK garage openings. The side guides are available in 75mm or 90mm sizes depending on the width ordered, ensuring the strongest and most stable installation possible.

British Build Quality

Each GDO ROLL77 is engineered and assembled in the UK using high quality materials and precision manufacturing processes. The aluminium double-skinned, insulated curtain provides excellent strength, security and thermal efficiency. The streamlined design removes unnecessary electronics, keeping the system incredibly easy to use and cost effective to maintain.

Style and Finish Options

The GDO ROLL77 curtain is supplied in 16 premium powder-coated colours to suit your home’s exterior. Optional half or full hoods are available in matching or contrasting finishes for a tailored look. If you would like a colour combination not listed online, please contact our team for details and pricing.
If the colour you require isn't showig be sure to check out our 'Signature' 5 colour roller door model with the same specification but 5 of the most popular colours for matching other home colour schemes. These colours are also a lower price.

Manual Override and Access Options

In the event of a power cut, the GDO ROLL77 includes an internal manual winding handle for easy manual operation. If your garage does not have a separate pedestrian access, we recommend adding an external key switch or low-level manual release system for safe external access at all times.

The GDO ROLL77 is designed to grow with your needs. Start with the basic, hard-wired button-controlled setup, then easily upgrade to more advanced control systems later. Whether you want remote operation, smart home integration, or timed access, the ROLL77 can adapt whenever you're ready.

Configuring Your Door Options

After selecting your size and curtain colour, choose the remaining options to tailor the door to your garage and how you use it.

  • Hood cover: Choose a half hood to cover the front and top of the roll, or a full hood to fully enclose and protect the roll and mechanism.
  • Guide colours: Select matching or contrasting side guides to achieve the finish you want.
  • Installation position: Choose inside face fitting, between opening fitting or external fitting. Inside face fitting is the most popular and is generally recommended. External fitting requires a full hood and may require additional components.
  • Motor side: Choose which side the motor, internal manual override and power cable will be positioned when viewed from inside the garage.
  • Internal manual override: A manual winding handle is supplied as standard, allowing the door to be opened or closed from inside the garage in the event of a power cut.
  • External access: If there is no separate pedestrian entrance to your garage, add an external key switch or low-level manual release system. This provides access in the event of a power cut.

Construction and Insulation

77mm double-skinned insulated aluminium slat profile for the GDO ROLL 77 roller garage door

The GDO ROLL 77 is manufactured using 77mm-deep, double-skinned aluminium slats with an insulated foam-filled core. This robust curtain construction provides a strong, insulated made-to-measure roller garage door solution.

Each door is electrically operated and manufactured to your exact width and height measurements for a precise fit.

Electric Operation and Manual Override

GDO ROLL 77 hold-to-run internal rocker switch

The GDO ROLL 77 is electrically operated using an internal hold-to-run rocker switch. Press and hold the switch to open or close the door, then release it to stop movement.

An internal manual override is included as standard for use during a power cut. The supplied winding handle hooks onto the motor drive, allowing you to operate the door manually.

Choose the motor, manual override and power-cable position on either the left or right side when viewed from inside the garage. If your garage has no separate pedestrian access, consider adding an external manual release or external key switch so you can gain access during a power failure.

Roll, Endplates and Headroom

The curtain rolls around a durable steel barrel, supported by steel endplates on each side. Allow approximately 300mm above the guide height for the roll and endplates.

When the door is fully open, allow up to 110mm for the bottom slat to hang down within the guides. This is important where maximum drive-through height is required for a vehicle, roof box or stored equipment.

Guides, Ordering Sizes and Clear Openings

The aluminium side guides are approximately 34mm deep and are supplied in one of two widths, depending on the overall door width:

  • Doors up to 3000mm wide: 75mm-wide guides on each side.
  • Doors over 3000mm wide: 90mm-wide guides on each side.

Your ordering size is always stated as Over Guide Width (OGW) x Guide Height (GH). OGW is the total width of the curtain and both side guides combined.

For doors fitted behind the opening, use the following guide when selecting your ordering width:

  • Up to 3000mm wide: ordering width = structural opening width + 150mm.
  • Over 3000mm wide: ordering width = structural opening width + 180mm.

For between-opening installations, the available clear opening will be reduced by the guide widths. Always check your available side room, headroom and drive-through requirements before ordering.

Door ordering width Guide width Clear opening width Clear opening height
Up to 3000mm 75mm each side OGW less 150mm GH less 110mm
Over 3000mm 90mm each side OGW less 180mm GH less 110mm

The maximum overall width, including guides, is 5200mm. The maximum guide height is 2900mm. At the maximum guide height, allow approximately 300mm above the guides for the roll and endplates, creating an overall height of around 3200mm. The maximum door width at this height is 4600mm.

Fitting Position Options

Between the Opening

The door is fitted within the structural opening. This can create a neat, recessed appearance, but the side guides and bottom slat hang-down reduce the available clear opening width and height.

Behind the Opening

The door is fitted behind the structural opening, with the guides fixed to the wall face. This is the most popular fitting position and gives the maximum possible clear opening width and height.

Behind-opening fitting can also be used for external installations. For external fitting, the curtain orientation and motor handing are reversed, and a full hood cover is strongly recommended to protect the roll and operating components.

Hood Cover Options

GDO ROLL 77 half hood and full hood cover options

Half Hood Cover

A half hood provides a front fascia and top cover for the curtain roll. It is ideal where the roll is visible from the front of the garage, helping to create a cleaner, more finished appearance.

A half hood is commonly selected for between opening installations or internal installations where front and top coverage is required.

Full Hood Cover

A full hood encloses the curtain roll and barrel, apart from the opening where the curtain travels into the guide rails. It is strongly recommended for external installations and other exposed locations, where it helps protect the roll and operating components from weather, debris and accidental contact.

Choose a full hood where the door is externally fitted, highly visible or exposed to the elements. Choose a half hood where you primarily require a neat front fascia and top cover for an internal or more sheltered installation.

Please note: upon delivery, the accessory box will include a QR code to direct you to the most up-to-date installation instructions.

Simple, User Friendly Installation

The GDO ROLL77 has been designed from the ground up as one of the easiest electric roller garage doors to install yourself. With a factory-assembled curtain and barrel unit, pre-formed guides and a straightforward hard wired control switch, there are very few electrical or setup steps required on site compared to more complex remote systems.

Hard Wired Push Button Control

The standard hard wired wall switch keeps everything simple and reliable. There is no control panel to program and no wireless handsets to set up. Once the door is fixed in position and plugged into a suitable 13 amp socket, you simply connect the pre wired switch cable, mount the switch at a convenient height on the wall and the door is ready to operate with hold to run up and down buttons.

Key Installation Points

  • Positioning the guides: Fix the side guides level and plumb either behind or inbetween the opening, ensuring you have allowed for the correct Over Guide Width (OGW) and guide height.
  • Mounting the barrel and endplates: Lift the pre-assembled roll into place, fixing through the steel endplates and allowing 300mm headroom to accommodate the barrel and optional hood cover.
  • Connecting the power: The door is supplied with a standard mains lead that connects to a nearby 13 amp, three pin, switched socket. Any additional fixed wiring should always be carried out by a suitably qualified electrician.
  • Fitting the wall switch: Mount the switch at a comfortable operating height, out of reach of small children, and connect the low-voltage control cable following the simple wiring diagram in the instructions.
  • Setting the manual override: Ensure the internal manual winding point and handle are accessible and that you know which way to turn the handle to open and close the door in the event of a power cut.

Ideal for Competent DIY Installers

Because there is no complicated control board programming or safety edge setup, many competent DIY customers are able to install the GDO ROLL77 themselves using basic tools and the step by step fitting instructions supplied with the door. If you prefer, any local builder or installer familiar with garage doors will also find the product quick and straightforward to fit.

For full technical guidance, including fixing positions, clearances and wiring diagrams, please refer to the dedicated GDO ROLL77 installation instructions supplied with your door or available to download from our website.
