Garador GaraRoll Insulated Electric Roller Garage Door – Deco Paint Finish

The Garador GaraRoll Deco Paint model combines the smart, space-saving engineering of the GaraRoll with a realistic timber-effect finish, applied directly to the aluminium curtain. This clever "Deco Paint" process creates a warm, natural woodgrain appearance that matches modern and traditional homes alike, but at a more competitive price point than the premium foil-coated timber effect options.

Realistic timber look without the maintenance

Available in two classic wood tones – Golden Oak and Rosewood – the Deco Paint finish mimics the look of natural timber while giving you all the benefits of high-grade aluminium. The special paint process is applied to both the inside and outside of the door curtain, so your garage looks neat and finished from every angle.

Because it is a paint finish rather than a laminated foil, it offers a robust, hard-wearing surface that is easy to wipe clean and requires no treating, staining or painting to keep it looking fresh. It’s an ideal choice if you want to match existing PVC window frames or a composite front door without the hassle of real wood.

Insulated, space-saving design

Like the standard GaraRoll, this door is built from 77mm high double-skinned aluminium slats filled with CFC-free polyurethane foam. This construction provides:

  • Thermal insulation: Helping to keep your garage warmer and reduce draughts – perfect for attached garages or workshops.
  • Quiet operation: The foam core dampens vibration, making the door run smoothly and quietly.
  • Vertical lift: The door rises vertically and rolls into a compact box at the head of the opening, leaving your ceiling clear for storage and allowing you to park right up to the door.

Electric operation as standard

The door comes complete with a dedicated electric operator and two hand transmitters, making it effortless to use. The motor is chain-driven and spring-assisted, which reduces wear on the mechanism and ensures reliable long-term performance. An internal control box with pushbutton operation and an integrated courtesy light is also included.

Security and durability

With no external handle to attack and the curtain held firmly within 110mm wide guide rails, the GaraRoll offers excellent security. Wind locks are fitted as standard to keep the curtain stable during storms, and the aluminium construction is naturally resistant to rust, making it a great option for coastal properties.

The door also features the DuraBelt anti-scratch system – a specialized microcellular belt that sits between the curtain layers as they roll up. This creates a protective cushion to reduce marking and abrasion on the paint finish, helping your Deco Paint door stay looking new for longer.

Why choose the Deco Paint model?

This model is the perfect balance of style and value. It gives you the high-end look of a timber roller door and the full GaraRoll technical specification (insulation, automation, safety features), but at a price that sits comfortably between the standard plain colours and the premium foil-coated timber finishes.

The Garador GaraRoll can be personalised with a range of functional and security options to suit your specific needs.

Colour choice

The door is available in a range of durable powder-coat finishes. The inside of the curtain is always finished in the same colour as the outside for a neat appearance.

  • Traffic White (RAL 9016) – Standard finish
  • Ruby Red (RAL 3003)
  • Steel Blue (RAL 5011)
  • Moss Green (RAL 6005)
  • Terra Brown (RAL 8028)
  • Black (RAL 9005)
  • Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016)
  • White Aluminium (RAL 9006)
  • Light Grey (RAL 7035)
  • Cream (RAL 9001)
  • Light Ivory (RAL 1015)
  • Grey Aluminium (RAL 9007)
  • Noir 2100 Sable (Anthracite Metallic) – A distinct metallic textured finish
  • Timber-effect finishes: Golden Oak and Rosewood (foil coat finish) - see other models online

External emergency release

If your garage has no other entrance door (side or rear access), an external emergency release is an essential safety option. This lockable device allows you to disengage the motor from the outside and operate the door manually in the event of a power cut or motor failure. Without this, you would be locked out of the garage if the power fails.

Acoustic door security kit

For additional peace of mind, an acoustic alarm can be specified. This unit detects if the door is being forced open and sounds a loud (110dB) alarm to deter intruders. It integrates neatly with the door control system.

Extra hand transmitters

The GaraRoll comes with two hand transmitters as standard. You can order additional transmitters for other family members or to keep as spares. We offer:

  • 5 Channel Standard Black: A classic full-size remote handset.
  • 4 Channel Mini Black: A compact remote convenient for keyrings.

Manually operated version

Although the GaraRoll is an electric door by design, a manually operated version is available for locations without power. Unlike many other manual roller doors that use a slow crank handle, the GaraRoll manual version is spring-balanced, meaning it can be lifted and lowered by hand (using handles on the curtain) with very little effort.

Construction and finish

  • Curtain: Double-skinned, foam-filled aluminium slats (77mm profile height)
  • Guide rails: 110mm wide aluminium side guides as standard
  • Finish: Deco Paint timber effect – a durable paint finish applied to both sides of the curtain for a realistic woodgrain appearance without the foil coating
  • Head box: Full hood cover included as standard (finished to match the door colour)
  • Bottom seal: Heavy-duty rubber weather seal
  • Wind locks: Fitted as standard for wind stability
  • DuraBelt anti-scratch system: Microcellular polyurethane belt protects slats from marking as the door rolls, reducing noise and extending curtain life

  • Golden Oak
  • Rosewood

Installation guidance (DIY overview)

The Garador GaraRoll can be installed by a competent DIYer with reasonable tools and mechanical knowledge, but roller door installation does require careful preparation, accurate measuring and attention to detail. Two people are essential for safe handling and positioning of the components.

Before you start

Read the full fitting instructions supplied with the door before starting work. Check you have all components and fixings listed, and make sure the structural opening is square, plumb and level – any distortion will affect how well the door runs and seals. The floor must be level and firm where the bottom seal sits, otherwise you will have gaps and poor weather resistance.

Confirm you have adequate headroom above the opening for the head box and rolled curtain, sufficient side room for the guide rails and fixing clearances, and a suitable mains power supply for the electric operator (230V AC supply, protected by an RCD).

Installation overview

Mark out and fix the guide rails: The guide rails must be vertical, parallel and spaced to the correct width. Use a spirit level and plumb line to ensure accuracy, then fix securely using appropriate fixings for your wall type.

Assemble and position the head box: The head box assembly (containing the motor, curtain barrel and spring mechanism) is usually pre-assembled. Lift it into position at the head of the opening and fix securely through the mounting brackets. The motor must always be on the left-hand side as viewed from inside the garage looking out.

Fit the curtain into the guides: Feed the bottom slat and curtain down into the guide rails, making sure each slat engages properly and runs smoothly without twisting or binding.

Tension and adjust: Adjust the spring tension according to the fitting instructions to balance the door properly. Check the door opens and closes smoothly by hand before connecting the power.

Connect the power and program the operator: Wire the operator to the mains supply (this must be done by a competent person in accordance with wiring regulations). Program the limit switches so the door stops in the correct open and closed positions, and set up the force limitation to ensure safe operation.

Fit the fascia and test: Once the door is running correctly, fit the full hood fascia cover and any finishing trims. Run the door through several full cycles to check it opens and closes smoothly, seals properly at the bottom, and that the safety reversal function works correctly.

Tools typically required

Electric drill with masonry and metal bits, spirit level (long level recommended), tape measure, screwdrivers, spanners or socket set, plumb line or laser level, adjustable wrench, safety glasses and gloves, step ladder or work platform.

Important safety notes

The head box and curtain are heavy – always use two people and proper lifting techniques. Springs are under tension, so follow the fitting instructions carefully and do not attempt to adjust or remove springs unless instructed. Electrical work must be carried out by a competent person and comply with current wiring regulations (IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671).

Do not use the door until all safety features have been tested and confirmed working. Keep hands, tools and objects clear of the door during operation and testing.

When to consider professional installation

While DIY installation is possible, professional installation by a Garador approved installer is recommended if you are not confident working at height or handling heavy components, if the opening is not a straightforward square aperture, if you are not familiar with mains electrical work or programming automated systems, or if you want the installation covered by an installer's workmanship warranty.

After installation

Keep the fitting instructions and wiring diagrams safe for future reference. Register your door with Garador to activate the manufacturer's warranty. Carry out periodic checks and light maintenance such as cleaning guide rails, checking the bottom seal and lubricating moving parts as per the maintenance instructions. Do not attempt repairs or adjustments to springs, motor or electrical components unless you are qualified – contact a Garador approved engineer for servicing and repairs.

Warranty Period

The purchaser is granted a warranty covering the safe and reliable function of the Garador garage door for a period of 10 years from the date of purchase. The warranty period for replacement
parts is 6 months or to the end of the current warranty period, whichever is longer.

In the case of foil-coated timber-effect doors, a warranty of 5 years is granted, for timber and GRP doors a warranty of 2 years is granted on the door panels alone under the terms and conditions specified herein. The door mechanism and steel frame (if applicable) is covered by the 10 year warranty period.
