The outer fixing sub-frame is a box section aluminium construction. Together with the rebated top and sides of the panels, it creates a formidable seal against the weather while providing enhanced security. All side-hinged doors are made to measure down to the millimetre, with the ordering size and prices derived from the overall width and height (including the sub-frame).

Because the doors arrive with almost everything factory-fitted, it removes the need to manually 'hang' the door leaves separately to the frame—a task that usually requires a skilled carpenter. All Carteck side hinged doors are factory-fitted with a fully finished aluminium fixing sub-frame. This guarantees precise installation with incredibly tight tolerances where the door hinges and closes. The frame is fully finished in the exact same colour as your chosen door panel to ensure a seamless look.

Note: These doors are supplied as right or left-hand leading door leaf (viewed from the outside looking in). You can specify your preference when ordering.

Lipped Threshold: For improved weather protection, a stepped aluminium threshold with a bulb weather strip is available as an optional extra. The door leaves close firmly against the raised strip to create an effective barrier to dust, debris, and draughts. The threshold also includes a thermal break, reducing heat transfer.
High Quality Hinges: Heavy-duty aluminium hinges are fitted with secured hinge bolts, making it extremely difficult to lever the door open. They are fully adjustable, and either 2 or 3 hinges are fitted to each leaf depending on the door size.
Stainless Steel Handles: High-grade stainless steel lever handles and lock covers provide a tough, attractive, and corrosion-resistant finish.
Double Seals & Mitred Corners: In addition to the circumferential seal around the door leaf, the outer frame boasts a three-sided seal for excellent draught reduction. Profiles are cleanly mitre-jointed for a neat, premium finish.
Door Stays: To protect your door from slam closure on windy days, top-grade, spring-dampened stays are fitted to hold the door securely in the open position.
Flush Bolt Security: The inactive (secondary) leaf is secured with robust recessed lever-action flush bolts at both the top and bottom.
DIN Standard CE Marked Hardware: Features a European sash lock and round bar lever handles on 50mm diameter roses. A Euro profile cylinder and thumb turn with stainless steel escutcheons are included as standard (a double cylinder keyed on both sides is available as an option).

The ordering and pricing process is simple:

Take the Overall Width and Height INCLUDING the fixing sub-frame. (See below)

It really is that simple... The doors are ordered by their Overall dimensions. Therefore, you should allow whatever tolerance you feel is appropriate for the aperture you are installing into.

We highly recommend deducting a minimum of 10mm all around from your structural opening sizes. This gives you sufficient room to perfectly position and level the door and frame during installation. Depending on whether your opening is smooth brickwork or rough natural stone, you may want to increase this tolerance.
