SeceuroGlide Classic / Original Insulated Roller Garage Door – With Full Hood
The SeceuroGlide Classic, now officially catalogued as the SeceuroGlide Original, is widely regarded as the UK's first purpose built insulated roller garage door and remains the benchmark for domestic security, smooth operation, and long term reliability. Engineered and manufactured in Britain by physical security specialist SWS UK, it represents decades of continuous refinement across more than 200,000 installations. Rather than a basic garage door retrofitted with afterthought locks, the Classic / Original is purpose built from the ground up to commercial security shutter standards.
This specific listing is supplied complete with a Full Aluminium Hood Enclosure as standard and covers our range of 21 solid and metallic powder-coated colour finishes. If you do not require a top box cover, or if you prefer an architectural textured timber effect, we have dedicated models in our shop.
Why Choose a Full Hood Enclosure?
A full hood cover consists of a powder-coated aluminium front fascia panel and backbox that completely encloses the coiled curtain, drive barrel, and endplates when the door is open. Choosing this complete enclosure provides distinct practical benefits:
- A Clean, Finished Internal Appearance: Hides the rotating mechanical roll out of sight, presenting a neat, self-contained box appearance against your garage wall or ceiling. It also shields the coiled curtain from airborne dust, sawdust, and grit, reducing surface marking on the slats over years of daily use.
- Full Enclosure for Reveal Installations: When installing between the brickwork opening reveals rather than behind, the full hood boxes in the curtain roll completely from both the inside and outside, eliminating the need for separate on-site timber or PVC fascia cladding.
- External Face Fitting: If you are installing the roller door on the outside face of your garage, a full hood is essential. It protects the barrel, motor, and locking mechanism from driving rain and wind, while preventing external tampering with the roll. * Note: External installations require minor specification adjustments (such as motor handing and override routing), so please contact our team to confirm details before ordering.
- Enhanced Draught & Weather Proofing: Enclosing the upper coil cuts down top-edge draughts and weather ingress, working alongside the dense guide brush pile and bottom rubber seal to keep your garage warmer and cleaner.
The Quietest Roller Door Available: Patented Continuous Webbing
A common complaint with standard roller garage doors is the rattling noise and chattering they develop during travel. On budget doors, this is caused by cheap plastic end clips linking the slats together, which wear down, break, and rub against metal guides over time.
SWS engineered out this problem on the SeceuroGlide Original by introducing a patented continuous nylon webbing system. This hard-wearing webbing runs down both outer edges of the curtain, binding the double-skinned aluminium slats into a unified, flexible curtain. The webbing acts as a natural vibration dampener, keeping the curtain tracking square and eliminating metal-on-metal friction. The result is exceptionally quiet, smooth travel that outlasts plastic clip arrangements by years.
Security Built In as Standard: Police Approved Protection
Because SWS originated as a manufacturer of heavy-duty commercial security shutters, the SeceuroGlide Classic / Original features physical engineering that exceeds standard domestic doors. It carries official Secured by Design Police Preferred Specification status straight out of the box:
- Patented Automatic Locking: High-strength aluminium auto-lock collars mechanically clamp the curtain down every time the door closes. There are no manual key locks or bolts to remember, and the mechanism physically prevents the door leaf from being forced or levered upward from the base.
- Oversized 100mm Fluted Steel Axle: Built on a heavy-gauge 100mm fluted steel barrel rather than the narrower 70mm tubes common to budget doors. This oversized axle eliminates barrel deflection across wider spans, creating a flatter curtain roll and noticeably faster opening and closing speeds.
- Heavy-Duty Extruded Guide Channels: Side guides are extruded from thick architectural aluminium rather than thin rolled sheet metal, keeping the curtain anchored in its tracks during severe weather or attempted forced entry.
- Galvanised Steel End Plates: Structural end plates supporting the barrel assembly are pressed from galvanised steel, providing far greater structural rigidity than standard cast aluminium plates.
Motor, Controls, and Comprehensive 7 Year Warranty
Every SeceuroGlide Classic / Original is automated as standard with the powerful SeceuroDrive tubular motor, which includes a manual override winding facility for opening or closing the door during power cuts. Both the electric motor and the SeceuroSense Plus control unit are backed by a comprehensive 7 year manufacturer warranty from SWS UK.
The wall-mounted SeceuroSense Plus control unit acts as your internal push-button station and receiver:
- Timed LED Courtesy Light: Automatically illuminates your garage interior when the door operates, staying on for several minutes to allow safe parking at night.
- Handset Choices: Supplied with two rolling-code transmitters using encrypted frequencies to stop code-grabbing. When ordering, you can select from the large tactile Plus handsets, modern Smooth keyring fobs, or traditional Classic transmitters.
- Bottom Slat Optical Safety Edge: Built-in optical light sensors housed inside the bottom rubber weather seal immediately detect obstacles, stopping and reversing the door to protect vehicles, pets, and children.
- Front-Cover Push Controls: Integrated buttons allow direct internal operation without needing a remote control, while external diagnostic LEDs allow quick status checks without opening the casing.
Ordering Dimensions and Made to Measure Sizing
Every SeceuroGlide Classic / Original door is purpose-made to your exact millimetre measurements at no additional charge. Ordering sizes refer to the Overall Door Width (including side guides) and the Guide Height (floor to underside of the hood box).
When planning your installation, please allow for the 300mm x 300mm full hood enclosure directly above your guide height to ensure you have sufficient clear headroom inside the garage. (350mm x 350mm on taller height door sizes)
* Always allow proper fitting tolerance when measuring your opening. A level floor across the threshold ensures the optical safety edge and bottom weather seal bed down evenly on every cycle.
How to Order Your SeceuroGlide Classic / Original (Full Hood) – Options Guide
Every SeceuroGlide Classic (Original) roller door is custom-manufactured down to the exact millimetre to suit your garage opening, supplied with a fully enclosed aluminium hood box as standard. When configuring your door online, work through the ordering steps below to select your sizes, colours, handing, fitting position, and automation upgrades.
1. Sizing: Selecting Your 'Up to' Pricing Bracket and Exact Dimensions
Our ordering menus use 'Up to' size brackets for online pricing, based on the Overall Door Width (including side guides) and the Guide Height (height from the floor to the underside of the full hood box, excluding the 300mm box itself above):
- Select Your 'Up to' Size: Choose the nearest 'up to' width and height bands from the drop-down menus that cover your overall dimensions. For example, if your required overall width is 2450mm and guide height is 2150mm, select 'Up to 2600mm' for width and 'Up to 2200mm' for height.
- Provide Your Exact Sizes: Enter your exact required overall width and guide height into the dimension boxes when proceeding to checkout. SWS will fabricate your door to these precise measurements at no extra cost.
2. Door Curtain Colour & Finishes
Select your curtain finish from our wide range of factory coatings:
- Standard Powder-Coated Colours: Durable, weather-resistant solid finishes including White, Black, Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016), Slate Grey, Graphite Grey, Chartwell Green, Burgundy, and Navy Blue.
- Standard Painted Woodgrain Effects: Painted timber-effect finishes in Golden Oak, Rosewood, and Irish Oak.
- Renolit Woodgrain Foil Laminates (Extended 10-Year Warranty): Over 30 textured architectural foil laminates that coordinate with external uPVC windows and composite doors, backed by an extended 10-year manufacturer warranty. Contact our team for pricing on non-standard foils.
3. Side Guide Channel Colour
The extruded aluminium guide rails are supplied in either White or Dark Brown as standard to complement your brickwork or curtain selection. Alternatively, you can select the option to have the side guides factory powder-coated to match your chosen door curtain colour.
4. Full Hood Cover Colour
Because the Classic / Original model includes a complete aluminium top box enclosure to conceal the 100mm barrel and protect the coiled slats, you can choose how it is finished:
- Standard Hood Finishes: Supplied in satin White or Dark Brown as standard.
- Colour-Matched Hood: Have your full hood box factory powder-coated to match your curtain slats exactly for a uniform appearance.
5. Electric Motor and Manual Override Handing
Choose which side you require the electric tubular barrel motor to be positioned on, selected as either Left-Hand Drive or Right-Hand Drive (viewed from inside the garage looking out).
The internal emergency manual release winding eyelet and crank handle are always situated on the same side as the motor unit, so ensure this side provides practical, unobstructed access inside your garage.
6. Door Installation Position & Hood Box Supports
Specify how the door will be fixed relative to your garage opening piers and lintel. On wider openings, intermediary hood support brackets are included to prevent lid deflection and ensure long-term stability of the enclosure:
- Inside Face Fit (Recommended): Fitted to the internal brickwork face behind the opening. Keeps the guides and top box concealed behind the reveals to maximise clear drive-through width and height.
- Inbetween the Opening (Reveal Fit): Fitted between the structural opening piers and directly under the lintel. The full hood neatly encloses the roll from both inside and outside.
- Inside Face Fit with Centre Hood Support: For wider openings installed behind the piers, an intermediate upper support bracket is supplied to anchor the full hood box firmly to the lintel, eliminating cover flex.
- Inbetween Opening with Centre Hood Support: For wider reveal-fixed installations, an overhead intermediate bracket secures the box directly to the underside of the lintel for complete cover rigidity.
* As a rule of thumb, wider doors spanning over 3000mm benefit from intermediate hood supports to brace the box profile across the span.
7. Optional External Low-Level Manual Override System
Every door comes with an internal manual crank handle for power failures. However, if your garage has no separate pedestrian access door or connecting integral house door, you must order an external manual release system:
- This heavy-duty, lockable low-level keyed disconnect allows you to disengage the motor and wind the door open from the outside using a crank handle if the power fails.
- The external release is installed on the same side as your motor selection.
- Supplied as standard to pass through brickwork walls up to 500mm thick (the 7mm hex drive shaft can be extended on site if passing through deeper reveals).
8. Optional Alarm Kit for the SeceuroSense Plus Control Panel
For standard SeceuroSense Plus systems, you can add an optional plug-in acoustic alarm card. Housed directly inside the internal wall control panel, this sensor triggers an ear-piercing siren if forced lifting or tampering is detected at the bottom of the door when closed.
9. Upgrade to Somfy Electric Motor Drive & Somfy Rollixo Premium IO Control Panel
Upgrade your complete drive package to Somfy’s flagship IO-homecontrol platform:
- Built-In 100dB Tamper Alarm: Housed directly inside the Rollixo panel, sounding immediately if the curtain is forced upward.
- Real-Time Door Status Feedback: Two-way communication confirms whether the garage door is fully open, closed, or partially positioned directly on your smartphone app or multi-channel remote.

Ordering and Sizing Guidelines
Pricing for the SeceuroGlide Classic / Original is based on overall door width including side guides and guide height, which is the height from the floor to the underside of the 300mm full hood box:
- Example Calculation: For a clear daylight opening 2300mm wide x 2200mm high installed on the inside face of the brickwork piers, you need 75mm guides on each side (2300mm + 150mm = 2450mm over guide width) and a 2200mm guide height. For pricing, select the Up to 2600mm width bracket and the Up to 2200mm height bracket.
- Headroom Requirement: Allow 300mm of clear headroom above the guide channels to accommodate the 300mm x 300mm full hood enclosure.
- Drive Handing: Motor drive side (left or right, viewed from inside looking out) must be specified when ordering. The manual override eyelet and crank handle exit on the same side as the motor.
- Between Fix Advantages: Because this door includes a full hood box as standard, it is completely self contained and suitable for fitting between the opening without needing on site timber or PVC fascias to cover the back of the roll.

SeceuroGlide Original Hardware Assembly Guide
Installing a SeceuroGlide Original is a logical process, but because it is a precision-engineered door, getting the framework square and true is absolutely critical to how well the door will run for the rest of its life.
Here is a practical overview of the main hardware assembly steps. Always refer to the manufacturer’s full installation manual provided with your specific door for exact measurements and fixing requirements.
1. Preparing the Guides and End Plates
Before lifting anything into the opening, prepare the framework on the ground.
• Drill the Guides: You need to pre-drill the fixing holes in the extruded aluminium guide rails. The first and last holes must be exactly 120mm from each end of the guide. The number of intermediate fixings depends on the height of the door, but they should be evenly spaced.
• Assemble the Frame: Slot the heavy-duty galvanised steel end plates into the top of the guide rails. If your door was supplied with the short protective webbing strips in the accessory box, attach these to the end plate fixing plates now—they help protect the curtain as it rolls into the guides.
2. Fixing the Framework and Full Hood Back Panel
Getting the framework perfectly level is the most important part of the entire installation. If the guides are out of plumb, the curtain will crab, the webbing will wear prematurely, and the motor will strain.
• Offer the assembled guides and end plates up to the brickwork (either internally behind the opening or between the opening, depending on your order).
• Prop them securely and use a high-quality spirit level to ensure the guides are perfectly vertical and parallel to each other. Check that the back faces of the guides and end plates sit flush against the wall and are not twisted.
• Fitting the Rear Hood Panel: If you are installing the full hood version, the rear section of the hood box must be secured between the end plates and fixed firmly to the wall or lintel at this stage, before the axle goes in.
• Once you are absolutely certain everything is square, drill through your pre-made holes into the masonry and secure the framework using suitable, heavy-duty fixings. All three fixing points on the end plates must be used.
3. Installing the Axle Assembly
With the framework secure, you can install the barrel.
• Place the roller bracket bearings onto the square bars protruding from the ends of the fluted axle and secure them in place using the provided R-clips.
• Offer the complete axle assembly up to the end plates and slide the roller brackets into the tracking slots on the plates.
• Secure the axle assembly using the supplied bolts to prevent it from moving.
4. Loading the Curtain
Loading the curtain is the heaviest and trickiest part of the job. For all but the smallest doors, this is strictly a two-person task requiring two sets of step ladders.
• Protect the Axle: To prevent the aluminium curtain from getting scratched on the bare axle as you load it, wrap some of the bubble wrap from the packaging around the barrel.
• Lift and Feed: Carefully lift the tightly coiled curtain up level with the axle. Position it over the top of the barrel and gently feed the bottom of the curtain down into the guide rails on both sides.
• Lower Safely: Slowly unroll the curtain and gently lower it until the bottom slat rests on a tool box or a solid block (roughly 250mm tall) positioned between the guides. Never allow the curtain to free-fall unroll over the axle, as the sudden jolt will severely damage the slats and webbing.
5. Securing the Curtain and Front Hood Panel
With the door resting safely on the block, you can attach the top of the curtain to the barrel.
• Slide the patented locking/attachment arms onto the top slat of the curtain.
• Position the unattached end of each arm so that the fixing bar lines up exactly with the locating holes in the locking collars on the axle. (You may need to rotate the axle slightly using the manual override to get the alignment perfect).
• Slide the collars together to lock the arms firmly into the axle.
• Use the manual override to wind the door up slightly so you can remove your resting block, then lower it to fit the bottom physical stops to the bottom slat.
• Fitting the Front Hood Panel: Once the curtain is fully installed, tested, and the motor limits are set, the final step for full hood models is to lift the front aluminium fascia panel into place. Slide it into the retaining channels on the end plates and secure it with the provided fixings to enclose the roll completely, forming the finished hood box.
Industry Leading Warranty Terms
All SeceuroGlide insulated roller garage doors purchased as a supply only offering include a comprehensive manufacturer warranty provided by SWS UK. Standing out as some of the best genuine warranty terms for an electric roller garage door in the UK, this coverage ensures long term peace of mind for your investment. Because the doors are supplied without professional fitting, this is strictly a parts only warranty that covers replacement components but excludes any on site labour costs.
Warranty Coverage By Model
The SeceuroGlide range offers exceptional warranty lengths depending on the specific model and its operating mechanism. Coverage protects against defects in material and workmanship, subject to correct installation, standard operation, and regular maintenance by a trained engineer.
| Door Model | Product Warranty | Standard Motor Warranty |
|---|---|---|
| Original, Excel & Compact | 5 Years | 7 Years (Registration Required) |
| LT | 5 Years | 5 Years |
| Manual | 5 Years | N/A (Manual Operation) |
Extended Automation Coverage
To further demonstrate product reliability, an extended 7 year automation warranty applies to the SeceuroDrive motor and SeceuroSense Plus control unit. To activate this industry leading benefit, the customer must register the product online within three months of installation. Please note that the entry level SeceuroGlide LT model carries a standard 5 year automation warranty and is excluded from this extension, and any door supplied with an alternative Somfy motor is capped at a 5 year warranty.
Premium Finish Guarantee
Standard plain colours and painted woodgrain finishes are protected under the baseline 5 year general product warranty. For maximum durability, doors ordered with premium Renolit wood effect finishes, specifically Rosewood, Mahogany, Golden Oak, White, and Black Brown, receive a limited 10 year guarantee covering the slat finish.
Important Exclusions
As a supply only arrangement, specific environmental limitations and product restrictions apply to the warranty coverage. Notably, the highly secure SeceuroGlide Excel model cannot be fulfilled as a supply only order; it must be professionally fitted by a trained installer to retain its certification and warranty.
- Weather and Sunlight: The warranty does not guarantee against water ingress in exposed locations during extreme weather, and thermal expansion on dark coloured doors facing direct sunlight is not considered a manufacturing defect.
- Cosmetic Marking: Standard operational friction may cause unavoidable cosmetic marking on the internal side of the curtain over time, which is explicitly excluded from coverage.
- Coastal Environments: Doors installed in coastal areas face a higher risk of deterioration and require strict adherence to the manufacturer cleaning instructions to maintain valid coverage.
Measuring Guide for SeceuroGlide Insulated Roller Garage Doors
Accurate measuring is essential when ordering any SeceuroGlide insulated roller garage door. Every door in the range is precision manufactured to exact ordering dimensions and made to the millimetre without any tolerance included by the factory. Taking the time to measure correctly will ensure a smooth installation and a perfect fit for your garage opening.
The Most Common Installation Method Internal Face Fit
The first and most important thing to know is that most electric roller garage doors are installed as an internal face fit. By fitting the guide rails to the inside face of your garage wall, you maximise the drive through width and height of your garage aperture. This method also ensures the curtain roll and endplates are neatly tucked away and hidden inside the garage, protecting them from the elements and providing a clean, seamless finish from the outside.
Understanding the Ordering Dimensions
As shown in the image on this page, the two key ordering dimensions for any SeceuroGlide roller garage door are the Over Guide Width and the Guide Height. The Over Guide Width is the total external width of the door including both side guide rails. The Guide Height is the vertical measurement of the visible door opening when the door is fully closed. It is important to note that the endplates and curtain roll sit above the Guide Height, so you must ensure there is sufficient headroom above your stated Guide Height to accommodate these components.
How to Measure Your Garage Opening
- Width: Measure the structural opening width of your garage at a minimum of three points the top, middle and bottom. Record the narrowest measurement.
- Height: Measure the height of your garage opening on both sides and in the centre. Record the shortest measurement.
- Headroom: Measure the available space above the top of your opening inside the garage. The SeceuroGlide Original (Classic)l LT and Excel models require a minimum of 300 mm headroom for doors up to 2500 mm in opening height and 350 mm for doors up to 3500 mm in opening height. The SeceuroGlide Compact requires just 205 mm of headroom. This space is needed for the endplates, curtain roll and any optional hood or fascia.
- Depth: Check there is sufficient depth inside the garage to allow the guides and any fixings to be secured without obstruction. Ensure no pipework, lighting, cabling or shelving will interfere with the guide rails or curtain travel.
Fitting Between an Opening
When installing a SeceuroGlide roller door between a structural opening, you must always allow for your own fitting tolerances. The factory manufactures each door to the exact dimensions you order, with no additional tolerance built in. If you order a door at the precise measurement of your opening, it may not fit. We strongly recommend deducting a suitable allowance from both the width and height measurements to ensure the door can be installed comfortably with room for packing and levelling during installation.
Fitting in Front of the Opening Externally
If you are considering fitting the door to the external face of your garage wall in front of the opening, there will be several other important considerations. External installations require specific components, such as a full box cover to protect the roll, as well as upgraded weatherproofing measures. Additionally, the standard bottom slat transmitter must always be installed internally and cannot be exposed to excessive moisture, meaning a higher IP rated transmitter will be required. Because of these extra requirements and safety considerations, it is best to email or call us directly to discuss your project before placing an order for an external face fit.
Important Tips Before You Order
- Always use a steel tape measure for accuracy and measure in millimetres.
- Check that the wall surfaces and lintel above the opening are flat, plumb and structurally sound enough to support the door and its fixings.
- Ensure any floor surface where the door will close is level. If the floor is uneven, consider the optional SeceuroSeal for improved weather protection at the base of the door.
- If you are unsure about any aspect of measuring, please contact us before ordering. Our team is happy to advise and help ensure you get the correct dimensions for your new door.
