SeceuroGlide Classic / Original with Somfy Rollixo Premium IO and Full Hood
The SeceuroGlide Classic, is widely regarded across the UK trade as the benchmark insulated electric roller garage door. This hybrid edition brings together the finest British mechanical shutter engineering from SWS UK with the latest smart home automation technology from world leaders Somfy. Supplied as standard with a Somfy tubular motor, the flagship Rollixo Premium IO control receiver, and a fully enclosing aluminium hood box, it sets a new standard for quiet running, physical security, and connected control.
Every door is custom manufactured down to the exact millimetre to suit your garage opening at no extra charge, rolling vertically overhead into an enclosed aluminium box. Available in your choice of 21 standard factory colours, it gives you the freedom to match modern architectural window frames, composite entrance doors, or traditional brickwork.
The Somfy Rollixo Premium IO Advantage
While standard roller garage doors rely on basic one-way radio receivers, this hybrid model is powered by Somfy's advanced io-homecontrol two-way radio platform, bringing several practical benefits to everyday use:
- Integrated 100dB Tamper Alarm: Housed directly inside the Rollixo wall panel, an internal acoustic siren sounds immediately if an intruder attempts to lever or force the bottom slat upward from the outside.
- Two Way Real Time Status Feedback: Unlike traditional remote systems where you cannot tell if the door fully closed behind you, the io platform sends visual confirmation directly to your smart app or multi-channel transmitter confirming whether the door is open, closed, or stopped.
- Smart Home Integration: Works seamlessly with the Somfy TaHoma switch and smartphone app, allowing you to open or close your garage from anywhere, check security status remotely, or incorporate garage access into automated arrival routines.
- High Output LED Courtesy Light: Built into the front of the Rollixo receiver, illuminating your garage automatically whenever the door operates and staying on to allow safe parking at night.
- Direct Push Button Controls: Dedicated open, close, and stop buttons on the face of the control box allow convenient internal wall-switch operation without needing a keyfob.
- Two Somfy Keygo 4 IO Transmitters: Supplied with 2 x robust four-channel Keygo keyfobs designed for car sun visors or keyrings, featuring a distinctive central button for easy single-touch operation.
Why Choose the Full Hood Enclosure?
The full aluminium hood consists of a powder-coated front fascia and backbox that completely encloses the rotating barrel, electric motor, and coiled curtain slats:
- Internal Safety and Protection: Completely encloses moving parts, preventing accidental entrapment and shielding the coiled curtain from airborne dust, sawdust, and accidental contact with garden tools or ladders stored nearby.
- Self-Contained for Reveal Installations: When installing between the brickwork opening reveals rather than behind, the full hood encloses the roll neatly from both the inside and outside, avoiding the need for separate on-site timber or plastic fascias.
- External Face Fitting: If fitting on the outside face of the garage building, the full hood provides an essential weather seal against driving rain and wind while preventing unauthorized external access to the barrel mechanism.
- Reduced Top Draughts: Enclosing the upper roll cuts down air leakage above the lintel, working with the dense guide brush pile and bottom rubber seal to keep your garage warmer and cleaner.
Patented Engineering for Quiet, Smooth Travel
A frequent problem on budget roller doors is the loud rattling and chattering noise generated by standard plastic end clips rubbing against guide channels. SWS engineered out this problem on the Classic / Original by introducing a patented continuous nylon webbing system:
- Vibration Dampening: High-performance nylon webbing runs down both outer edges of the curtain, binding the double-skinned aluminium slats into a unified, flexible curtain that glides silently down the tracks.
- Square Tracking: Keeps the curtain tracking perfectly square within the extruded aluminium side guides, eliminating slat displacement and premature wear.
- Oversized 100mm Fluted Steel Axle: Built on a heavy-gauge 100mm fluted steel barrel rather than the thinner 70mm tubes common to budget doors. This oversized axle eliminates barrel deflection across wider spans, creating a flatter curtain roll and noticeably faster opening and closing speeds.
Security Built In as Standard: Police Approved Protection
Because SWS originated as a manufacturer of heavy duty commercial security shutters, the SeceuroGlide Classic / Original features physical engineering that exceeds standard domestic doors. It carries official Secured by Design Police Preferred Specification status straight out of the box:
- Patented Automatic Locking: High-strength aluminium auto-lock collars mechanically clamp the curtain down every time the door closes. There are no manual key locks or bolts to remember, and the mechanism physically prevents the door leaf from being forced or levered upward from the base.
- Heavy Duty Extruded Guide Channels: Side guides are extruded from thick architectural aluminium rather than thin rolled sheet metal, keeping the curtain anchored in its tracks during severe weather or attempted forced entry.
- Galvanised Steel End Plates: Structural end plates supporting the barrel assembly are pressed from galvanised steel, providing far greater structural rigidity than standard cast aluminium plates.
- Optical Safety Edge: Built-in optical light sensors housed inside the bottom rubber weather seal immediately detect obstacles, stopping and reversing the door to protect vehicles, pets, and children.
21 Low-Maintenance Colour Choices
The standard price includes your choice of 18 durable powder-coated solid colours (such as Anthracite Grey, Black, White, Chartwell Green, and Slate Grey) or 3 painted woodgrain-effect finishes (Golden Oak, Irish Oak, and Rosewood). The full hood and side guides are supplied in white or brown as standard, or can be factory colour-matched to your chosen door curtain for a unified look.

Ordering and Sizing Guidelines
Pricing for this door is based on overall door width including side guides and guide height (floor to underside of the full hood box):
- Sizing Example: For a clear daylight opening 2300mm wide x 2200mm high installed on the inside face of the brick piers, you need 75mm guides on each side (2300mm + 150mm = 2450mm over-guide width) and a 2200mm guide height. For pricing, select the Up to 2600mm width band and the Up to 2200mm height band.
- Headroom Requirement: Requires 300mm of clear headroom above the guide channels for door heights under 3000mm (300mm x 300mm box), or 350mm of headroom on door heights of 3000mm and above (350mm x 350mm box).
- Drive Handing: Motor drive side (left or right, viewed internally) must be specified when ordering. The manual override eyelet and crank handle exit on the same side as the motor.
- Between-Fix Advantages: Because the door includes a full hood box as standard, it is completely self-contained and suitable for fitting between the opening without needing on-site timber or PVC fascias to cover the back of the roll.
Optional Extras and Accessories
- Somfy TaHoma Switch Smart Hub: Pair your Rollixo IO system with the Somfy TaHoma hub for smartphone app control, voice assistant integration, and automated routines.

SeceuroGlide Classic with Somfy IO & Full Hood Installation Guidance
Installing a SeceuroGlide Classic roller garage door powered by a Somfy motor and Rollixo Premium IO control receiver is straightforward for an experienced tradesperson or competent DIYer. Because this model includes an oversized 100mm barrel, patented continuous webbing, and a self-contained aluminium full hood box, taking time to assemble the frame square and plumb ensures the door runs with its signature whisper-quiet operation and reliable safety performance.
1. Pre-Installation Checks and Tolerances
Before unpacking the door components, verify the garage opening structure and clearances:
- Threshold Levelness: Check the garage floor across the full opening width with a long spirit level. The floor must be reasonably level. An uneven floor prevents the bottom rubber seal and optical safety edge from seating squarely, which can cause nuisance safety reversals when the door tries to close.
- Structural Soundness: Ensure the brickwork piers and lintel are flat, plumb, and free of obstructions (such as electrical conduit, alarm contacts, or gas pipes). The fixing face must be solid masonry capable of supporting the door weight and operating torque.
- Headroom and Pier Clearances: Confirm you have sufficient clear headroom above your guide height: 300mm on door heights under 3000mm, or 350mm on door heights of 3000mm and above. Ensure you have at least 75mm (or 90mm for wide doors) of flat pier face on each side inside the garage.
2. Assembling the Frame and Securing the Hood Enclosure
Building the structural frame square is the most critical stage of the installation:
- Attach Guides to Hood Endplates: Lay the extruded guide channels flat on clean cardboard or dust sheets. Slot the legs of the heavy-duty cast endplates (already attached to the backbox panel) directly into the tops of the side guide channels.
- Check Diagonals for Squareness: Lift the assembled guide and hood frame into position against the garage opening. Use a tape measure to check diagonally from the top corner of one endplate to the opposite bottom corner of the guide. Both diagonal measurements must match exactly.
- Fixing into Masonry: Plumb both guides vertically with a spirit level and clamp them into place. Drill and plug through the pre-drilled fixing holes into solid masonry using suitable heavy-duty fixings.
- Intermediate Hood Supports (Wider Openings): If intermediate hood support brackets are supplied for wider spans, secure them firmly into the lintel overhead to brace the box profile and eliminate cover flex.
3. Mounting the Axle Barrel and Checking Level
The uprated 100mm fluted steel barrel ensures rigidity across wide openings and houses the Somfy motor:
- Lift Axle into the Hood: Secure the Somfy motor head into its dedicated mounting bracket on your chosen drive side endplate, ensuring the manual override eyelet faces forward or downward for easy hook engagement through the hood fascia.
- Secure the Dummy End Bearing: Mount the opposite end of the barrel into the heavy-duty bearing on the non-motor endplate, ensuring it is seated flat, level, and securely pinned.
- Check Axle Level: Place a spirit level directly across the 100mm barrel. The axle must be completely level to ensure the patented continuous webbing feeds down both side guides evenly.
4. Hanging the Curtain and Setting Patented Autolocks
Take care when unwrapping the curtain to avoid scratching the powder-coated finish on the floor:
- Feeding Webbed Curtain into Guides: With the axle secured and motor limits roughly positioned, carefully feed the top edge of the curtain over the barrel and guide the continuous webbing edges down into the brush-lined channels.
- Attaching Locking Collars: Connect the heavy-duty auto locking straps evenly spaced across the top slat into the dedicated 100mm axle collar slots.
- Setting the Down Locking Position: When the door is fully closed, the locking collars should form a slight downward 'knuckle' angle against the barrel. This mechanical angle clamps the curtain firmly down, meeting Secured by Design requirements and preventing anyone from levering the door open from outside.
- Fitting the Front Hood Cover: Once the curtain is running smoothly and limits are set, hook the front curved aluminium cover into position on the endplates and secure it with the provided rivets or self-tapping screws.
5. Commissioning the Somfy Rollixo Premium IO Control Receiver
Once mechanically hung, connect the Rollixo panel and set up the safety system:
- Mounting the Control Unit: Fix the Rollixo Premium IO receiver panel to an internal wall at approximately chest height, within reach of a standard 13-amp domestic power socket.
- Motor Wiring: Connect the four-core cable from the Somfy tubular motor directly into the numbered motor terminals on the Rollixo board as indicated in the supplied wiring diagram.
- Optical Safety Edge Pairing: Pair the wireless bottom-slat optical transmitter with the Rollixo receiver board following the on-screen LED prompts.
- Commissioning Limits: Use the Rollixo front-panel buttons or your Keygo remote to drive the door up and down, adjusting the motor limit stops so the curtain rests neatly below the top box when open and compresses the bottom weather seal firmly against the floor when closed.
- Acoustic Alarm & Safety Test: Test the optical bottom edge by placing a 50mm timber block under the door path during closing—the curtain must stop and reverse immediately. Test the tamper alarm function by attempting to lift the closed door curtain slightly from the base; the internal 100dB siren should trigger.
- Emergency Override Test: Disconnect the mains power supply and test the manual crank handle to confirm the door winds open smoothly by hand in the event of a power cut.
* If you fitted an optional external low-level manual release, test key operation from the outside to confirm the hex bar turns the motor gearbox freely before leaving the site.

Straightforward Maintenance Requirements
To keep your SeceuroGlide warranty fully valid, your door simply requires basic, sensible care:
- Keep Guide Channels Clear: Periodically wipe out the aluminium side guides and brush pile strips with a damp cloth to clear away grit, salt deposits, and debris. Do not apply heavy grease or oil to the brush strips or nylon webbing.
- Wash the Curtain and Hood Finish: Clean the outside face of the aluminium slats and full hood cover every few months with warm soapy water (car shampoo works well) and a soft cloth, especially in coastal areas where airborne salt can accumulate.
- Maintain Threshold Clearance: Ensure the floor beneath the door remains free of stones, ice build-up, and leaf litter so the optical safety edge and rubber seal seat flat and true on every closure cycle.
* Always register your door serial number with SWS UK following installation to activate your extended manufacturer warranty records.
How to Measure for Your SeceuroGlide Roller Door
When ordering a SeceuroGlide Classic roller garage door with a full hood and Somfy IO automation, getting your measurements right from the start avoids delays and ensures a clean installation. Use this guide alongside our 3D dimension drawing to identify exactly what to measure and how to calculate your ordering sizes.
* SWS manufacture your door to the exact millimetre sizes you enter at checkout. The online ordering sizes always refer to the Overall Width (including side guide channels) and the Guide Height (floor to underside of the full hood box), not the opening hole size.
Understanding the Key Ordering Dimensions
| Dimension Reference | What It Refers To | How to Calculate It |
|---|---|---|
| Ordering Width (Over Guide Width) | The total outside width from outer edge of left guide to outer edge of right guide. | Behind opening: Clear Daylight Width + both guide widths (2 x 75mm or 2 x 90mm). Between opening: Exact clear opening width minus 10mm fitting tolerance. |
| Ordering Height (Guide Height) | The height from the finished floor to the underside of the full hood box. | Behind opening: Clear Daylight Opening Height (floor to underside of lintel). Between opening: Total height to underside of lintel minus hood box size (300mm or 350mm). |
| Headroom (Full Hood Clearance) | Clear vertical clearance required above the guide channels for the box. | Requires 300mm vertical clearance on door heights under 3000mm (300mm x 300mm box). Requires 350mm vertical clearance on door heights of 3000mm or higher (350mm x 350mm box). |
| Side Room (Internal Piers) | Flat face width required on each internal pier to fix the side guides. | Requires a minimum flat return of 75mm per side (or 90mm per side on doors wider than 3000mm over guide). |
Important: Hood Box and Endplate Sizes Based on Door Height
Because taller curtains hold more coiled aluminium slats around the 100mm barrel, the overall roll diameter increases with height. SWS supply two distinct hood box and endplate sizes based on your ordering height:
- Doors Under 3000mm Guide Height: Supplied with standard 300mm x 300mm endplates and full hood box, requiring 300mm of clear headroom above the guide channels.
- Doors at 3000mm Guide Height or Higher: Supplied with larger 350mm x 350mm endplates and full hood box, requiring a full 350mm of clear headroom above the guide channels to accommodate the larger roll diameter.
Option A: Installing Behind the Opening (Inside Face Fit – Recommended)
Fitting behind the brickwork piers gives you the greatest drive through width and clearance height:
- Measure the Daylight Width: Measure the clear distance between the internal faces of your brick piers at top, middle, and bottom. Use the narrowest measurement.
- Calculate Over Guide Width: Add the two guide widths to your daylight opening width. For doors up to 3000mm wide using 75mm guides, add 150mm (e.g., 2300mm opening + 150mm = 2450mm Ordering Width). Ensure you have at least 75mm of flat pier face on each side inside the garage.
- Measure Daylight Height (Guide Height): Measure from the finished floor to the underside of your lintel at both sides. If the floor is level, this measurement is your Guide Ordering Height.
- Check Your Headroom: Confirm you have sufficient unobstructed headroom above the underside of the lintel inside the garage: allow 300mm on heights under 3000mm, or 350mm on heights of 3000mm and above.
Option B: Installing Inbetween the Opening (Reveal Fit)
Used when internal headroom or side pier space is limited, fixing directly between the reveals. The full hood neatly finishes the door from both inside and outside:
- Measure the Width Between Reveals: Measure between the brickwork opening at three heights (top, middle, bottom). Take the smallest figure and subtract a 10mm fitting tolerance (5mm per side) to arrive at your Over Guide Ordering Width. This ensures the frame fits cleanly between rough or out of plumb brickwork.
- Calculate Guide Ordering Height: Measure from the finished floor to the underside of the lintel. Deduct the height of the full hood box—300mm for heights under 3000mm, or 350mm for heights of 3000mm and above to calculate your Guide Ordering Height. The remaining space below the box becomes your clear drive through height.
Essential Measuring Tips Before Finalising Your Order
- Check the Floor Level: Place a long spirit level across the threshold. The optical safety edge and bottom weather seal need a reasonably level floor across the entire opening to bed down correctly without triggering false safety reversals.
- Inspect the Lintel and Ceiling Depth: Check back into the garage behind the lintel to ensure no ceiling joists, light fittings, gas pipes, or roof trusses clash with the full hood box. Allow at least 350mm depth for standard 300mm boxes, and 400mm depth for the larger 350mm boxes.
- Double Check Sideroom Obstructions: Confirm the internal pier surfaces are clear of consumer units, surface mounted conduit, or shelving where the guide channels and fixing angles will mount.
* If your opening is out of square or you are unsure which dimensions apply to your 3D drawing, contact our team with your measurements before ordering and we will gladly verify your ordering sizes.
