SeceuroGlide LT Insulated Roller Garage Door (No Hood)

The SeceuroGlide LT is an electric, insulated aluminium roller garage door designed to offer genuine SWS UK manufacturing quality and certified safety at an accessible price point. It serves as a lighter specification alternative to the flagship SeceuroGlide Original, removing the sound-dampening webbing and specialist security attachments while keeping the same robust, double-skinned insulated curtain.

The UK market has many low-cost roller doors that cut corners to reduce price, often relying on illegal single infra-red beams across the opening. The SeceuroGlide LT is fully compliant with UK safety regulations, using an active optical bottom edge safety sensor that stops and reverses immediately if an obstruction is met.

Supplied as the No Hood model, this door comes without an aluminium top box enclosure. The curtain rolls neatly onto steel endplates behind the garage lintel, which is ideal if you have sufficient internal headroom and do not need a cosmetic coil cover.

How the LT Compares to the SeceuroGlide Original

Understanding the mechanical differences helps determine whether the LT fits your garage requirements:

  • Curtain Construction: Both models use the same double-skinned, CFC-free foam-filled aluminium 77mm slats for reliable thermal insulation and rigidity.
  • Acoustic Operation: The LT omits the patented nylon webbing and acoustic guide inserts used on the Original. It runs reliably and smoothly, but without the whisper-quiet operation found on the flagship model.
  • Locking Mechanism: The LT uses standard auto-locking straps attached to the axle barrel rather than the reinforced auto-lock collars fitted to Secured by Design certified doors.
  • Axle Counterbalance: The LT does not use an internal counterbalance spring. It relies on direct tubular motor drive paired with a manual crank handle for emergency power override.

Motor and Control Options

The SeceuroGlide LT is available with a choice of two drive and receiver packages to suit standard operation or smart home setups:

Feature SeceuroSense Plus (Standard) Somfy Rollixo Premium IO (Upgrade)
Handsets Included 2 x rolling-code transmitters 2 x Somfy Keygo 4-channel IO transmitters
Integral Alarm Available as an optional plug-in card Built-in 100dB tamper and forced-entry alarm
Internal Lighting Built-in LED courtesy light (up to 300W external feed) High-output built-in LED courtesy light
Smart Connectivity Hardwired relay integration only Direct Somfy TaHoma switch and smartphone app support
Safety Sensor Bottom slat optical safety edge Bottom slat optical safety edge

Colours and Woodgrain Finishes

The curtain slats feature a tough multi-layer coil coating that requires no painting and resists weather fading:

  • 21 Standard Colours: Includes architectural finishes such as Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016), Black (RAL 9005), White (RAL 9016), Chartwell Green, Slate Grey, and Navy Blue.
  • Over 30 Renolit Grained Foil Finishes: Authentic woodgrain textured foil laminates (including Golden Oak, Rosewood, Irish Oak, and Turner Oak) available at an additional charge to match external uPVC windows and doors.

Installation and Specification Notes

  • Motor Handing: Motor drive side (left or right, viewed from inside the garage looking out) must be specified when ordering. The manual override eye exits on the same side as the motor.
  • Power Failure Override: An internal manual crank handle is supplied as standard. If there is no separate pedestrian entrance into the garage, an external low-level barrel lock release kit must be ordered.
  • LT Dummy End Axle Adjustment: Because the LT does not use an internal spring, SWS fits an LT dummy end on the non-motor side of the barrel. This features an adjustable internal shaft to set the axle to the exact bracket width. This shaft is intentionally stiff to pull initially, but moves freely once shifted into position before slotting into the endplate bracket.

* Always check you have adequate internal headroom above the opening to accommodate the coiled curtain roll on endplates when opting for a door without a hood cover.

How to Order Your SeceuroGlide LT (No Hood) – Options Guide

Every SeceuroGlide LT roller door is custom manufactured down to the exact millimetre to suit your garage opening. When configuring your door online, work through the ordering steps below to select your sizes, position, finishes, and automation accessories.

1. Sizing: Selecting Your 'Up to' Pricing Bracket and Exact Dimensions

Our ordering menus use 'Up to' size brackets for online pricing, based on the Overall Door Width (including side guides) and the Guide Height (height from the floor to the underside of the endplates, not including the curtain coil above):

  • Select Your 'Up to' Size: Choose the nearest 'up to' width and height bands from the drop-down menus that cover your overall dimensions. For example, if your required overall width is 2450mm and guide height is 2150mm, select 'Up to 2600mm' for width and 'Up to 2200mm' for height.
  • Provide Your Exact Sizes: Enter your exact required overall width and guide height into the dimension boxes when proceeding to checkout. SWS will fabricate your door to these precise measurements at no extra cost.

2. Door Installation Position

Specify how the door will be fixed relative to your garage opening structural piers and lintel:

  • Inside Face Fit (Recommended): Fitted to the inside brickwork face behind the garage opening. This position preserves your maximum drive-through opening width and height, keeping the guides and the overhead roll entirely concealed behind the reveals.
  • Inbetween the Opening (Reveal Fit): Fitted between the structural opening piers and under the lintel. The side guides will reduce your clear drive-through width by either 150mm (75mm guides) or 180mm (90mm guides), and the roll sits below the lintel. * Note: Because this model has No Hood, fitting inbetween the opening leaves the rear of the coiled curtain exposed internally unless you plan to clad or box it in on site.

3. Door Curtain Colour

Choose your curtain finish from our comprehensive palette of 21 standard factory colours (18 solid powder-coated shades including Anthracite Grey, Black, White, Chartwell Green, and Slate Grey, plus 3 painted woodgrain-effect finishes: Golden Oak, Irish Oak, and Rosewood).

* Looking for a specific designer shade or one of over 30 textured Renolit grained foil laminates to match external uPVC windows? Please call or email our team for a fast quotation.

4. Side Guide Channel Finish

The extruded aluminium guide rails are supplied in either White or Dark Brown as standard to complement your brickwork or curtain selection. Alternatively, you can select the option to have the side guides factory-finished to match your chosen door curtain colour.

5. Electric Motor and Manual Override Handing

Choose which side you require the electric tubular barrel motor to be positioned on, selected as either Left-Hand Drive or Right-Hand Drive (viewed from inside the garage looking out).

The internal emergency manual release winding eyelet and crank handle are always situated on the same side as the motor unit, so ensure this side provides practical, unobstructed access inside your garage.

6. Optional External Emergency Manual Override System

Every door comes with an internal manual crank handle for power failures. However, if your garage has no separate pedestrian access door or connecting integral house door, you must order an external manual release system:

  • This heavy duty, lockable low level keyed disconnect allows you to disengage the motor and wind the door open from the outside using a crank handle if the power fails.
  • The external release is installed on the same side as your motor selection.
  • Supplied as standard to pass through brickwork walls up to 500mm thick (the 7mm hex drive shaft can be extended on site if passing through deeper reveals).

7. Optional Acoustic Alarm Kit

Add an optional acoustic alarm system to safeguard your garage against forced break-in attempts:

  • SeceuroSense Alarm Card: An internal plug-in alarm module housed directly inside the SeceuroSense wall control unit, sounding a piercing siren if forced lifting is detected at the base of the door.
  • Somfy Rollixo Premium IO Upgrade: If you select the upgraded Somfy Rollixo IO platform, a high-output 100dB tamper alarm comes integrated as standard, sounding immediately if the bottom slat is levered upward.

SeceuroGlide LT (No Hood) Technical Specification

The SeceuroGlide LT (No Hood) is engineered by SWS UK to provide a compliant, high-specification electric roller door package without the extra expense of full aluminium fascia boxes or acoustic webbing systems. Below is a breakdown of what comes supplied in the standard kit, sizing rules, and factory options available to order.

  • Made to Measure: Precision factory-built to your exact opening dimensions down to the millimetre.

Ordering and Sizing Guidelines

Pricing for the SeceuroGlide LT is based on overall door width including side guides and guide height (the height to the underside of the endplates, excluding the curtain roll above):

  • Example Calculation: For a clear daylight opening 2300mm wide x 2200mm high installed on the inside face of the brickwork piers, you need 75mm guides on each side (2300mm + 150mm = 2450mm over-guide width) and a 2200mm guide height. For pricing, select the Up to 2600mm width bracket and the Up to 2200mm height bracket.
  • Headroom Requirement: Allow 300mm of clear headroom above the guide channels for the unhooded curtain coil and support endplates.
  • Drive Handing: Motor drive side (left or right, viewed from inside looking out) must be specified when ordering. The manual override eyelet and crank handle exit on the same side as the motor.
  • Between Fix Notice: The No Hood model is designed primarily for internal face fixing. If fitting between the structural opening reveal, the rear of the coil will remain visible from inside unless separate fascia cladding is fitted on site.

Optional Extras and Upgrades

  • Somfy Rollixo Premium IO Drive Package: Upgrades the motor and control unit to the Somfy IO platform, featuring a built-in 100dB tamper alarm, high-output LED light, and 2 x Somfy Keygo 4-channel remote handsets.
  • Smart App & Home Automation: Connects with Somfy TaHoma switch hubs for smartphone access, remote scheduling, and voice assistant integration (when paired with the Somfy Rollixo IO system).
  • Integral Control Box Alarm: Plug-in acoustic alarm module housed directly inside the standard SeceuroSense control unit.
  • External Low Level Manual Release: Keyed external disconnect fitted through the wall with a 7mm hex bar (suits walls up to 500mm thick; extendable on site for deeper reveals). Essential for garages with no separate pedestrian entrance.
  • Over 30 Renolit Woodgrain Foil Finishes: Architectural textured foil laminates (such as Golden Oak, Rosewood, and Turner Oak) available at an additional charge to match external uPVC windows and doors.
  • Sloping Bottom Slat: Custom-fabricated bottom rail engineered to sit flush against sloping garage thresholds of up to 250mm incline.
  • Access Accessories: Wireless external digital keypads, surface-mounted key switches, and additional handsets.

SeceuroGlide LT (No Hood) Installation Guidance

Fitting a SeceuroGlide LT roller garage door is well within the capability of an experienced tradesperson or competent DIYer. Because this model is supplied without a full hood box, careful initial setup of the guide channels, endplates, and axle barrel is essential to ensure a smooth, level roll and reliable safety edge operation.

1. Pre-Installation Checks and Tolerances

Before unpacking the door components, verify the opening structure and dimensions:

  • Floor Levelness: Check the garage threshold with a long spirit level. The floor must be reasonably level across the full opening width. An uneven threshold prevents the bottom rubber seal and optical safety edge from seating squarely, which can trigger nuisance reversals when closing.
  • Structural Soundness: Ensure the brickwork piers and lintel are flat, plumb, and free of obstructions (such as conduit, alarm sensors, or gas meters). The fixing face must support the weight of the assembly and the operating motor torque.
  • Headroom and Pier Clearances: Confirm you have a minimum of 300mm clear headroom above the guide height for the coiled curtain roll, along with at least 75mm (or 90mm for doors over 3000mm wide) on each internal pier to mount the guide channels.

2. Assembling the Frame and Securing the Endplates

Building the structural frame square is the most critical stage of the installation:

  • Slot Guides onto Endplates: Lay the extruded guide channels flat on clean cardboard or dust sheets. Slot the legs of the cast aluminium endplates directly into the tops of the side guides.
  • Check Diagonals for Squareness: Lift the assembled guide and endplate frame into position against the internal brickwork opening. Use a tape measure to check diagonally from the top corner of one endplate to the opposite bottom corner of the guide. Both diagonal measurements must match exactly.
  • Fixing into Masonry: Plumb both guides vertically with a spirit level and clamp them into place. Drill and plug through the pre-drilled fixing holes into solid masonry using suitable heavy-duty fixings. * Never fix solely into cosmetic plasterboard or crumbling mortar joints.

3. Mounting the Axle Barrel and Adjusting the LT Dummy End

The axle assembly carries the motor at one end and the anti-drop assembly or dummy shaft at the other:

  • Lift Axle onto Endplates: Secure the motor head into its dedicated mounting bracket on your chosen drive side endplate, ensuring the manual override eyelet faces forward or downward for easy hook engagement.
  • Adjust the LT Dummy Shaft: Unlike standard spring-assisted doors, the LT relies on a direct-drive dummy end on the non-motor side. The internal shaft allows width adjustment to seat the axle accurately between the endplates. This shaft is intentionally stiff to pull on initial adjustment; once shifted, it moves freely into position and drops into the support bracket bearing.
  • Safety Brake Alignment (Doors over 26.5kg): If your door is supplied with a wireless safety brake, ensure it is seated level and locked correctly onto the dummy endplate bearing before hanging the curtain.

4. Hanging the Insulated Curtain and Setting Autolocks

Take care when unwrapping the curtain to avoid scratching the powder-coated or woodgrain finish on the floor:

  • Feeding into Guides: With the axle secured and motor limits roughly positioned, carefully feed the top edge of the curtain over the barrel and guide the side edges down into the brush-lined channels.
  • Attaching Locking Straps: Connect the heavy-duty auto-locking straps evenly spaced across the top slat into the axle collar slots.
  • Setting the Down-Locking Position: When the door is fully closed, the locking straps should form a slight downward 'knuckle' angle against the barrel. This mechanical angle clamps the curtain firmly down, preventing anyone from levering the door open from outside.

5. Commissioning the Motor, Safety Edge, and Controls

Once mechanically hung, wire the control panel and complete the final safety setup:

  • Mounting the Control Unit: Fix the SeceuroSense or Somfy Rollixo receiver panel to an internal wall at approximately chest height, within reach of a standard 13-amp domestic power socket.
  • Setting Limit Stops: Set the mechanical or digital motor limits so the curtain stops neatly at the top (leaving the bottom slat resting just below the top of the guides) and seals firmly against the floor at the bottom without over-compressing the locking straps.
  • Optical Safety Edge Testing: Pair the wireless transmitter in the bottom rubber seal with the receiver board. Test the safety system by placing a 50mm timber block on the floor beneath the door path. On making contact, the door must immediately stop and reverse upward.
  • Emergency Override Test: Disconnect the mains power and test the manual crank handle to confirm the door can be wound open smoothly by hand in the event of a power failure.

* If you fitted an optional external low-level manual release, test key operation from the outside to confirm the hex bar turns the motor gearbox freely before leaving the site.

Please Note: Important Information when installing the Seceuroglide LT Roller Doors.

In the absence of the spring we apply an LT dummy end. This has an adjustable shaft in it. This is designed to be moved so the axle becomes the right size. This is stiff to pull but once its moved it moves freely. This then slots in to the bracket as normal.

For  doors which have been supplied with a dummy end, the bearing will no longer be welded to the end.   Instead, the bearing will now be located within the accessory box and will need to be installed manually.

To install the bearing, simply slide the bearing ontl the end of the dummy end shaft.

Industry Leading Warranty Terms

All SeceuroGlide insulated roller garage doors purchased as a supply only offering include a comprehensive manufacturer warranty provided by SWS UK. Standing out as some of the best genuine warranty terms for an electric roller garage door in the UK, this coverage ensures long term peace of mind for your investment. Because the doors are supplied without professional fitting, this is strictly a parts only warranty that covers replacement components but excludes any on site labour costs.

Warranty Coverage By Model

The SeceuroGlide range offers exceptional warranty lengths depending on the specific model and its operating mechanism. Coverage protects against defects in material and workmanship, subject to correct installation, standard operation, and regular maintenance by a trained engineer.

Door Model Product Warranty Standard Motor Warranty
Original, Excel & Compact 5 Years 7 Years (Registration Required)
LT 5 Years 5 Years
Manual 5 Years N/A (Manual Operation)

Extended Automation Coverage

To further demonstrate product reliability, an extended 7 year automation warranty applies to the SeceuroDrive motor and SeceuroSense Plus control unit. To activate this industry leading benefit, the customer must register the product online within three months of installation. Please note that the entry level SeceuroGlide LT model carries a standard 5 year automation warranty and is excluded from this extension, and any door supplied with an alternative Somfy motor is capped at a 5 year warranty.

Premium Finish Guarantee

Standard plain colours and painted woodgrain finishes are protected under the baseline 5 year general product warranty. For maximum durability, doors ordered with premium Renolit wood effect finishes, specifically Rosewood, Mahogany, Golden Oak, White, and Black Brown, receive a limited 10 year guarantee covering the slat finish.

Important Exclusions

As a supply only arrangement, specific environmental limitations and product restrictions apply to the warranty coverage. Notably, the highly secure SeceuroGlide Excel model cannot be fulfilled as a supply only order; it must be professionally fitted by a trained installer to retain its certification and warranty.

  • Weather and Sunlight: The warranty does not guarantee against water ingress in exposed locations during extreme weather, and thermal expansion on dark coloured doors facing direct sunlight is not considered a manufacturing defect.
  • Cosmetic Marking: Standard operational friction may cause unavoidable cosmetic marking on the internal side of the curtain over time, which is explicitly excluded from coverage.
  • Coastal Environments: Doors installed in coastal areas face a higher risk of deterioration and require strict adherence to the manufacturer cleaning instructions to maintain valid coverage.

Measuring Guide for SeceuroGlide Insulated Roller Garage Doors

Accurate measuring is essential when ordering a SeceuroGlide insulated roller garage door. Every door in the range is precision manufactured to exact ordering dimensions and made to the millimetre without any tolerance included by the factory. Taking the time to measure correctly will ensure a smooth installation and a perfect fit for your garage opening.

The Most Common Installation Method Internal Face Fit

The first and most important thing to know is that most electric roller garage doors are installed as an internal face fit. By fitting the guide rails to the inside face of your garage wall, you maximise the drive through width and height of your garage aperture. This method also ensures the curtain roll and endplates are neatly tucked away and hidden inside the garage, protecting them from the elements and providing a clean, seamless finish from the outside.

Understanding the Ordering Dimensions

As shown in the image on this page, the two key ordering dimensions for any SeceuroGlide roller garage door are the Over Guide Width and the Guide Height. The Over Guide Width is the total external width of the door including both side guide rails. The Guide Height is the vertical measurement of the visible door opening when the door is fully closed. It is important to note that the endplates and curtain roll sit above the Guide Height, so you must ensure there is sufficient headroom above your stated Guide Height to accommodate these components.

How to Measure Your Garage Opening

  • Width: Measure the structural opening width of your garage at a minimum of three points the top, middle and bottom. Record the narrowest measurement.
  • Height: Measure the height of your garage opening on both sides and in the centre. Record the shortest measurement.
  • Headroom: Measure the available space above the top of your opening inside the garage. The SeceuroGlide Original and Excel models require a minimum of 300 mm headroom for doors up to 2500 mm in opening height and 350 mm for doors up to 3500 mm in opening height. The SeceuroGlide Compact requires just 205 mm of headroom. This space is needed for the endplates, curtain roll and any optional hood or fascia.
  • Depth: Check there is sufficient depth inside the garage to allow the guides and any fixings to be secured without obstruction. Ensure no pipework, lighting, cabling or shelving will interfere with the guide rails or curtain travel.

Fitting Between an Opening

When installing a SeceuroGlide roller door between a structural opening, you must always allow for your own fitting tolerances. The factory manufactures each door to the exact dimensions you order, with no additional tolerance built in. If you order a door at the precise measurement of your opening, it may not fit. We strongly recommend deducting a suitable allowance from both the width and height measurements to ensure the door can be installed comfortably with room for packing and levelling during installation.

Fitting in Front of the Opening Externally

If you are considering fitting the door to the external face of your garage wall in front of the opening, there will be several other important considerations. External installations require specific components, such as a full box cover to protect the roll, as well as upgraded weatherproofing measures. Additionally, the standard bottom slat transmitter must always be installed internally and cannot be exposed to excessive moisture, meaning a higher IP rated transmitter will be required. Because of these extra requirements and safety considerations, it is best to email or call us directly to discuss your project before placing an order for an external face fit.

Important Tips Before You Order

  • Always use a steel tape measure for accuracy and measure in millimetres.
  • Check that the wall surfaces and lintel above the opening are flat, plumb and structurally sound enough to support the door and its fixings.
  • Ensure any floor surface where the door will close is level. If the floor is uneven, consider the optional SeceuroSeal for improved weather protection at the base of the door.
  • If you are unsure about any aspect of measuring, please contact us before ordering. Our team is happy to advise and help ensure you get the correct dimensions for your new door.
