Size Availability:

The Rollmatic 2 is supplied in any size, from 1250mm wide up to 6000mm wide (plus the guides), and 1800mm high up to 3100mm high.

These sizes refer to the internal opening size of the door (unlike other roller doors), and you have to allow for the 110mm guides either side, as well as the curtain roll and hood enclosure which is either 290mm up to 2300mm high and 335mm over 2301mm high.

In our online shop you will see the sizes expressed as 'up to', and the width is first, height second. The price given is the price up to that width and height, and you can then tell us the exact size you require in the two boxes that follow.

Hormann RollMatic T vs RollMatic 2 - A Comparison

Both doors use Hormann's insulated 77mm aluminium roller curtain and are supplied electric operated as standard and with a full hood cover. The main difference is how they operate. The RollMatic T uses a conventional tubular motor inside the roller barrel, while the RollMatic 2 uses a more advanced external motor and counterbalance spring system.

At a Glance

Hormann RollMatic T

The more straightforward and cost-effective tubular motor roller door. It works particularly well where internal side room is limited, as the motor sits inside the curtain barrel rather than projecting out at the side.

Hormann RollMatic 2

The higher-specification roller door using a 24V external operator and spring counterbalance system. It provides smoother manual release, added smart-control options, and is available in larger sizes.

Motor and Operating System

RollMatic T - Internal tubular motor

The 240V motor is housed inside the roller barrel axle. There is no external motor unit, which makes the door useful when you have restricted space on the garage piers. The motor lifts the full weight of the insulated curtain directly.

RollMatic 2 - External 24V operator and springs

The 24V motor is mounted at the side of the roller barrel. Tension springs built into the door system carry most of the curtain weight, so the motor is guiding a balanced door rather than lifting its full weight.

Space Required for Fitting

RollMatic T - Better for tight side room

The motor is inside the roller barrel, so the door needs only the standard guide width on each side. Depending on the door width, this is normally 75mm or 105mm per side.

RollMatic 2 - Requires more clearance on the motor side

The external motor requires additional space beyond the side guide on one side of the opening. Always check the exact fitting drawing before ordering if your garage piers, walls, cupboards, or side access doors are close to the opening.

Safety System

RollMatic T - Optical bottom safety edge

An optical safety sensor is built into the hollow rubber bottom seal. When the bottom edge reaches an obstacle, the door stops and reverses. The standard system uses a coiled spiral cable, with a wireless safety edge available as an option.

RollMatic 2 - Force monitoring through the operator

The spring-balanced curtain and 24V operator monitor resistance as the door closes. If the door meets an obstruction, the operator detects the additional force and reverses.

Manual Release During a Power Cut

RollMatic T - Hand chain override

An internal emergency hand chain is supplied as standard. It lets you wind the door open or closed manually if the power fails. If your garage has no other pedestrian access, an external emergency release should be selected.

RollMatic 2 - Spring assisted manual release

The operator is released using an internal pull cord. Once released, the tension springs take most of the curtain weight, allowing the door to be opened and closed manually with much less effort.
