The CarTeck Luxe Georgian design features traditional raised panel cassettes, offering a classic visual appearance that perfectly complements period properties and traditional UK homes. If you use your garage as a workshop, gym, or everyday storage space, this side hinged door gives you quick pedestrian access without having to open up the whole garage to the British weather.
Available in widths up to 3500mm, every door is made to measure to the exact millimetre to help you maximise your clear opening. Built using 40mm thick insulated foam filled panels, these doors offer excellent thermal performance and structural strength to keep the cold and draughts out.
As part of the standard specification, you get an upgraded security cylinder lock, a weather resistant 3-part floor threshold, and concealed hinges for a much cleaner external look. For standard sizes up to 3188mm wide, the doors arrive completely factory-fitted within their aluminium outer frame, which makes getting the door plumb and installed on site a much simpler job.

CarTeck Luxe Georgian Insulated Side Hinged Garage Door
Traditional Georgian Panel Design
The Luxe Georgian style uses a classic raised cassette design across the door panels. This gives the door a highly traditional visual appearance that sits perfectly alongside older properties or homes with existing Georgian-style windows. It is an ideal choice for garages used as utility rooms, home gyms, or storage areas where you want the practical benefits of a modern insulated steel door but need it to match a more classic architectural style.
Made to Measure and Split Options
Made to measure sizes come as standard at no extra cost. You simply choose the overall width and overall height to maximise your clear opening. These side hinged garage doors are available as the standard 50/50 equal split, which gives a balanced and symmetrical look and keeps the cassette panels perfectly aligned. Alternatively, you can select an asymmetric 1/3 and 2/3 split arrangement. This is highly practical if you only need to open a smaller pedestrian door to get a bike, lawnmower, or the dog out without swinging a large heavy door.
* You can specify the doors as either left or right hand leading leaf when viewed from the outside, depending on what obstacles might be in the way on your driveway.
Door Construction and Insulation
If you spend time in your garage, thermal performance is incredibly important. These doors use 40mm thick double skin steel panels with a highly insulating rigid foam core. The panels themselves have an independently tested core U-value of 0.56 W/m²K. When tested as a completely fitted doorset, including the frame and seals, they achieve a very respectable overall U-value of 2.20 W/m²K.
The inside face of the panels is completely smooth, meaning there are no exposed bracing bars. Finished internally in a light Grey White (RAL 9002), it makes the interior far easier to wipe down and helps reflect light nicely inside the room.
Locking, Hardware and Security
With the more robust door panel construction comes high-quality locking and hardware. The doors are supplied with an upgraded BS EN1303 Cylinder Security Grade 2 lock, featuring an anti-drill and anti-pick internal design. It includes a built-in break-off system, meaning a sacrificial front section snaps away under attack but leaves enough cylinder in place for you to still operate the lock with your key.
For taller doors over 2020mm high, a 3-point locking system is available for stronger resistance against forced entry. To secure the inactive leaf, recessed lever action flush bolts are fitted at the top and bottom. High-grade stainless steel lever handles and built-in door stays are all included in the box to securely hold the door open while you are in and out.
Hinges and Frame Assembly
For doors up to 3188mm wide, the doorset comes completely factory fitted within a fully finished aluminium fixing sub frame. This ensures incredibly tight tolerances where the door closes, meaning a much simpler installation process on site without the need for a separate timber frame. The frame profiles have mitre jointed corners for a very clean final finish, and the outer frame is always colour matched to your chosen panel finish at no extra cost.
These sizes also use concealed hinges as standard. Moving the hinges out of sight makes it far harder for anyone to lever the door open from the hinge side by removing a visible point of attack. It gives you a sleeker visual appearance from the outside, and makes alignment much quicker during installation.
* If your ordering width is over 3188mm, the doors are supplied with heavy-duty 3 dimensional adjustable hinges to safely handle the extra load. Because of the sheer size and weight, these wider doors are supplied unassembled rather than factory fitted, making them much safer to transport and handle on site.
Threshold and Weather Sealing
To keep cold draughts out, there is a continuous seal right around the circumference of each door leaf, backed up by an additional three-sided seal on the frame itself. Across the floor, a 3-part threshold system is supplied as standard. This incorporates a bulb seal to give you a much better weather seal at the bottom of the door, helping to keep leaves and rain outside where they belong.
* A level floor is essential for the best results with this threshold system.
Colours, Textures and Finishes
You have an extensive palette of 43 standard finishes to choose from. This includes 39 solid paint colours across the Trend and Trend+ ranges, alongside 4 highly realistic wood effect laminates that offer the visual appearance of natural timber without the ongoing maintenance. For the Georgian cassette design, a Woodgrain surface texture is traditionally chosen as it very closely mimics the look of classic painted timber doors.
Optional Window Upgrades
Because of the classic Georgian design, adding windows works slightly differently to other door styles. Instead of choosing a custom size, the scratch-resistant polymer double glazed units directly replace the raised steel cassettes in the top section of the door. This means they are a fixed shape that perfectly aligns with the rest of the door's traditional styling, giving you natural daylight without losing the period look.
When you get in touch to discuss your windows, you can choose the glazing finish that best suits your privacy needs:
- Clear: Offers maximum natural daylight and visibility into the garage
- Frosted: Lets plenty of light in while completely obscuring the view for full privacy
- Satin: A smooth translucent finish that diffuses the light softly while keeping the inside private
To further enhance the traditional appearance, you also have the option to add traditional mock leading to the glazing.
* Because the exact cost depends on how many cassettes you choose to replace and your glazing finish, these are treated as a bespoke extra. Please call or email us to discuss your window requirements, and we can price these up accordingly alongside your door order.
Ordering Your CarTeck Insulated Side Hinged Doors
Every CarTeck 40mm insulated side hinged garage door is made to measure and built to your exact required dimensions. Before you begin choosing your options below, simply select the next size up on both width and height from our pricing table to get your base price. When you proceed to the checkout stage, you will be able to enter the exact millimetre dimensions you need for a perfect fit.
Panel and Frame Colour
You can choose your preferred finish from an extensive palette of 42 options, all designed specifically to complement UK homes. This massive selection includes 38 solid colours from the standard Trend and Trend+ ranges, alongside 4 highly realistic wood effect laminates. These wood effects are perfect if you want a natural timber appearance but need the practical benefits of a maintenance free insulated steel door. Beyond these 42 standard finishes, there are several premium upgrades available:
- Trend Satin Range: A collection of 6 paint finishes with a refined 10% gloss content, offering a softer visual appearance compared to the standard 30% gloss paints
- Any RAL Colour: If none of the standard or Satin colours suit your project, you can specify any exact RAL colour to perfectly match your property
- Coastal Paint Upgrade: If your property is located near the coast, we strongly recommend considering our special coastal paint upgrade for much better protection against salt air corrosion
* Please call or email us for full details and pricing on the Trend Satin, any RAL colour, or coastal paint upgrade options.
External Panel Texture
To perfectly complement the traditional raised panel design, the outside face of the Georgian doors is supplied exclusively with a Woodgrain surface texture. This closely mimics the look of classic painted timber, making it an ideal match for period properties. The inside face of the door is always supplied with a smooth finish, making it far easier to wipe down and keep clean.
Leading Door Leaf
You need to select whether the leading door leaf (the one that opens first) is on the left side or the right side when viewed from outside the garage looking in. When making your choice, think about which side you will use most often for pedestrian access and what obstacles might be in the way when the door is open.
Panel Split
Depending on the exact door style you have chosen, you can usually select between a 50/50 equal split or an asymmetric 1/3 - 2/3 split. The 50/50 split gives a balanced, symmetrical appearance and keeps the cassette panels perfectly aligned across the width. The asymmetric split is highly practical if you only need to open a smaller pedestrian door for everyday access.
Threshold Options
To keep draughts and debris out, you have a choice of 2 standard threshold options that sit right across the floor. The right choice often depends on whether you are driving over it or just walking.
- There are alternative deep threshold profiles available, which are designed specifically for garages where no vehicle access is required and getting the tightest possible floor seal is the main priority
* Please call or email us for details and pricing if you require non standard threshold options.
Handle and Locking Options
A robust stainless steel lever handle is fitted as standard on these doors. If you want to increase security or just change the visual appearance, there are several upgrades available.
- Standard: Stainless steel lever handles paired with the standard locking mechanism
- Upgrade: Choose from 8 alternative handle designs, all supplied with an upgraded 3 point hook locking mechanism for enhanced security
- Bespoke: You can supply your own door furniture to be fitted at the factory, available on a price on application basis
Optional Window Upgrades
If you want to let natural daylight into your garage, adding windows works slightly differently on the Georgian model. Instead of choosing a custom size, the double glazed units directly replace the raised steel cassettes on the door panels. While they are a fixed shape, you have the complete flexibility to replace any number of cassettes, in any position across the door, to suit exactly what you need.
* Because the exact cost depends on how many cassettes you choose to replace and your glazing finish, these are treated as a bespoke extra cost option. Please call or email us to discuss your window requirements, and we can price these up accordingly alongside your door order.
Door Construction and Internal Finish
These CarTeck side hinged garage doors are built using 40mm thick double skin steel panels with a highly insulating rigid foam core, held within a fully finished aluminium sub frame. The inside face of these panels is completely smooth, meaning there are no exposed bracing bars or surface mounted lock gear to gather dust. This makes the interior far easier to wipe down and keep tidy. To help brighten the inside of your garage, all doors are finished internally in a light Grey White (RAL 9002) which reflects the light nicely.
To perfectly complement the traditional raised panel design, the outside face of the Georgian doors is supplied exclusively with a Woodgrain surface texture. This closely mimics the look of classic painted timber to suit period properties.
Tested Thermal Insulation
If you use your garage as an extra room, thermal performance is incredibly important. The 40mm thick insulated panels used on these doors have an impressive, independently tested core U-value of 0.56 W/m²K. However, a door is more than just its panels. When tested as a completely fitted doorset (including the frame, panel joints and weather seals), these doors achieve an overall U-value of 2.20 W/m²K. This represents excellent thermal performance for a steel side hinged garage door, making it a genuinely strong performer for any garage used as a gym, workshop, or utility space.
Optional Glazing and Window Finish
While these doors are supplied as solid steel panels as standard for maximum privacy and security, you can choose to add windows to let natural daylight into the garage. With the Georgian model, adding windows works by directly replacing the raised steel cassettes on the door panels. While this means the windows are a fixed shape, you have the complete flexibility to replace any number of cassettes, in any position across the door, to suit exactly what you need.
If selected, the window units are made from scratch resistant polymer double glazing, designed to let in plenty of light while maintaining overall panel strength. The window surrounds are colour matched to the door, making sure the glazing, frame and door panels all blend together as a single cohesive design.
If you choose to add windows, the scratch resistant polymer double glazed units are available with either traditional mock leaded effects or plain clear designs depending on how much privacy you need.
Extensive Selection of 42 Finishes
You can specify these doors in a massive palette of 42 finishes. This gives you the flexibility to coordinate perfectly with your existing windows, doors and exterior finishes, whether you want a solid paint colour or a natural timber look.
Wood Effect Finishes
These highly realistic laminates offer the visual appearance of natural timber without the ongoing maintenance.
Trend Colours
Trend+ Colours
To ensure a completely seamless and integrated appearance right around the opening, the outer aluminium fixing sub frame is always colour matched to your chosen panel finish as standard, at no extra cost.
Aluminium Fixing Sub Frame
Every doorset comes factory fitted with a fully finished aluminium fixing sub frame. This ensures we get incredibly tight tolerances where the door hinges and closes, meaning fewer draughts and a much simpler installation process on site without the need for a separate timber frame. Because each doorset is made to order, we can maximise the usable clear width and height of your specific opening.
* You can specify the doors as either left or right hand leading leaf when viewed from the outside.
3 Part Threshold with Bulb Seal
A 3 part threshold system is now supplied as standard across all these side hinged garage doors. This setup incorporates a new bulb seal to give you a much better weather seal at the bottom of the door, helping to keep leaves and rain out. Because the threshold is supplied in three separate sections, it can be extended beyond the frame legs for a neater floor finish, or lined through with adjacent openings if you need to. If you need extended lengths, these are available on request.
Click here for further information on the threshold options.

Locking, Hardware and Security
3 Point Locking
For doors over 2020mm high, a high security 3 point locking system is available. This locks the active door leaf at multiple points along its height, providing much stronger resistance against forced entry.
Lock Cylinder Security Upgrade
The Euro profile cylinder has been upgraded to provide higher security while making it easier for you to obtain replacement keys locally. The practical benefits include:
- BS EN1303 Cylinder Security Grade 2 for peace of mind
- Anti drill and anti pick internal design
- 3 keys supplied as standard in the box
- Built in break off system, meaning a sacrificial front section snaps away under attack but leaves enough cylinder in place for you to still operate the lock with your key

Handles and General Hardware
The high grade stainless steel handles and lock covers are tough enough for daily use while keeping a very attractive finish. The included hardware features:
- DIN standard CE marked European sash lock
- Pair of stainless steel round bar lever handles on 50mm diameter roses
- Euro profile cylinder and internal thumb turn with stainless steel escutcheons as standard
- Recessed lever action flush bolts at the top and bottom of the inactive leaf for secure locking
- Door stays fitted to each leaf to securely hold the door open while you are in and out
* A double cylinder with key access on both sides is available as an option.
Double Seals and Mitred Corners
To really cut down on cold draughts entering your garage, there is a continuous seal right around the circumference of each door leaf, backed up by an additional three sided seal on the frame itself. The frame profiles are mitre jointed at the corners, which leaves you with a very clean and precise final finish.
Concealed Hinges
As part of the latest product developments, these side hinged doors now use concealed hinges as standard. Moving the hinges out of sight brings several practical advantages to your doors:
- Easier trimming and finishing around the frame because there are no surface mounted hinge knuckles getting in the way at the edge
- Quicker alignment and adjustment during installation, as only two hinges per leaf are required
- A sleeker, more contemporary visual appearance from the outside
- Improved security by removing a visible point of attack, making it far harder to lever the door open from the hinge side
* These upgraded hinges come at no additional cost compared to the previous traditional hinge designs.
See the Installation tab for a video showing how to adjust a concealed hinge.

Installation Guidance – Made to Measure as Standard
Every CarTeck 40mm insulated side hinged garage door is made to measure as standard. This means the doorset is manufactured to your exact brickwork opening sizes (allowing for the correct fitting tolerances), so you are not trying to "make do" with a standard size. You benefit from maximum clear opening width and height, tighter seals and a far neater finished appearance.
1. Measuring Before You Order
Before ordering, carefully measure the structural brickwork opening width and height in at least three places (top, middle, bottom for width; left, centre, right for height). Use the smallest measurements and check that the reveals and lintel are reasonably plumb and level. These clear opening sizes are what you provide for your made to measure doorset – the factory will calculate the finished frame sizes and tolerances from these figures.
2. Delivered as a Complete Doorset (Up to 3188mm)
For openings up to 3188mm wide, CarTeck side hinged doors are supplied as a fully assembled doorset. The aluminium fixing frame, door leaves, hinges, locks, seals and glazing are all factory fitted and pre-aligned. This eliminates the need to hang door leaves separately on site. Once unpacked, the frame and doors are lifted into the opening as one unit, making installation faster, cleaner and more predictable.
* Important Note for Oversized Doors: Due to the sheer physical weight and handling practicalities of very large panels, any doors ordered over 3188mm wide will not be delivered pre assembled. The aluminium outer frame and the door leaves will be delivered as loose components that require assembly and hanging on site. Additionally, these oversized doors will be supplied with heavy duty traditional surface mounted hinges to safely support the extra weight, rather than the standard concealed hinges.
3. Fitting the Aluminium Sub Frame
With the old garage door and frame removed and the opening cleaned back to sound masonry, the new aluminium frame is positioned into the reveal. For pre-assembled units, use packers and a spirit level to ensure the whole frame is perfectly plumb, level and square, then drill and fix through the pre-designated fixing points into the brickwork. Check the operation of both leaves as you go and make minor hinge or latch adjustments if required. For oversized loose-component doors, you will need to perfectly plumb and fix the frame first before carefully hanging the heavy door leaves.
4. Threshold & Final Sealing
The supplied 3-part threshold is then positioned and fixed in line with the frame legs, creating a continuous base for the bulb seal and improving weather protection at floor level. Because it is in three pieces, you can extend it slightly beyond the frame legs for a neat transition to adjacent paving or doorways. Finally, any small gaps between frame and brickwork are neatly sealed with a suitable external grade sealant or trim.
5. Post-Installation Checks
Once installed, check that:
- Both leaves open and close freely without fouling the floor or reveals.
- The locks engage smoothly and the compression seals make consistent contact all round.
- The stays hold the doors open securely at the desired angle.
Because these doors are made to measure, a competent installer or experienced DIYer can achieve an excellent, professional result with far less time and adjustment than a traditional, site-built timber door and frame.
CarTeck Side Hinged Garage Doors Warranty
CarTeck insulated side hinged garage doors are manufactured by Teckentrup to the highest standards and are backed by a comprehensive, long-term manufacturer’s guarantee for complete peace of mind. The warranty periods apply to doors that have been correctly installed, maintained and cleaned in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
10-Year Manufacturer’s Guarantee

- • Against door panel separation of the steel skins from the inner foam core.
- • On material and manufacturing flaws of all non-moving parts of the frame that are verifiably unusable.
- • On the floor seal, intermediate seals and frame weather seals against rotting.
5-Year Manufacturer’s Guarantee
- • On factory paint finishes against peeling and blistering (excluding normal colour fade and excluding coastal locations). Note: A specific 3-year guarantee applies to coastal installations, providing the door was ordered with the official coastal paint upgrade.
2-Year Manufacturer’s Guarantee
- • On all hardware and moving components, including window units, hinges, locks, handles and door stays (based on standard use of up to 5 open/close cycles per day).
Please note: The guarantee does not apply to doors that are subjected to extreme conditions, such as corrosive influences resulting from use in a coastal climate with high salt content, unless the relevant coastal paint upgrades were specified at the point of order. Regular cleaning of the door finish is required to maintain the warranty.
Measuring for your CarTeck 40mm Luxe Traditional side hinged garage door is a straightforward process. These fully insulated doors are completely made to measure and supplied factory assembled with their sub fixing frame and hardware already fitted, ensuring a fast and simple installation. The entire unit is designed to be installed directly in between your structural garage opening.
Step 1: Measure the Structural Opening Width
Take the width measurement from brickwork to brickwork inside the structural opening.
- Measure the width in three distinct places: at the top, the middle, and the bottom of the opening.
- Record the smallest of these three dimensions. This becomes your definitive structural opening width.
Step 2: Measure the Structural Opening Height
Take the height measurement from the floor directly to the underside of the lintel.
- Measure the height in three places: on the left, in the middle, and on the right side of the opening.
- Record the smallest of these three dimensions to determine your definitive structural opening height.
Step 3: Calculate Your Ordering Size
Because the door and its pre-fitted frame sit inside the opening, you must allow for a fitting tolerance. The manufacturer recommends a minimum tolerance of 10mm all around to ensure the frame fits comfortably without being forced.
- Ordering Width: Deduct 20mm from your smallest structural opening width, which allows for a 10mm gap on both the left and right sides.
- Ordering Height: Deduct 10mm from your smallest structural opening height to allow a gap at the top.
The resulting dimensions are your Overall Frame Size, which is the exact measurement you will use when placing your order.
Step 4: Check Floor Levels and Squareness
The garage floor level is a critical factor because standard CarTeck side-hinged doors open outwards.
- Use a spirit level to check that the driveway is completely flat or falls away from the garage opening. Ensure the ground does not rise up and obstruct the outward swing of the door leaves.
- The door features a 3-part stepped aluminium threshold as standard, which requires a sound, level surface across the full width of the opening to sit correctly and provide an effective weather seal.
- Check how square and true your brickwork is. If the opening is visibly out of square or the stonework is particularly rough, you may need to increase your fitting tolerances (deducting more than 10mm) to ensure the pre-squared frame will fit within the space.
Please allow for any tolerances you require in the ordering dimensions and the doors will be manufactured to the exact dimensions specified.
