Hormann LPU67 Insulated Sectional Garage Doors
The new energy-saving door from Hormann!
There is a new garage door for the title of the ‘best insulated garage door’ and it is unsurprisingly a sectional type door. The LPU67 Thermo from Hormann offers levels of insulation not previously possible without the upgrades that have been incorporated into the door.
The LPU 67 Thermo offers everything that is expected from a modern door construction: excellent thermal insulation achieved by sections with a thermal break with a U-value of 0.33 W/(m²·K)*. Thicker panels are a key part of the door, with 67mm thick, double skinned panels enhance insulation and sound proofing. Alongside this, the seals have been improved in several areas. The seals between each panel section are stronger and more durable, the seals on the floor are double edged to provide a more efficient seal with an optimum floor connection to compensate for floor unevenness, and there are now optional rubber seals for the sides and top of the thermoframe. Couple all of this and you have one of the most energy efficient garage doors on the market today.
The door comes with an electric operator as standard from the Hormann Bi Secur range and there is no handle available. If a second entrance is not available then a separate emergency release system must be ordered.
Control
The electric operator can be controlled using one or more of many options available for internal or external control. Wireless Bi Secur technology in the electric operator means various radio controlled devices can be used such as hand held remote controls, wall mounted key pad switches, key switches, transponders and biometric finger readers.
Mechanism
The LPU67 is available with the Z, N and L track mechanism options as per the normal sectional door range and this depends on the size and headroom available.
Sizes
This door is available in sizes up to 5000mm wide and 3000mm high and is purpose made as standard from Germany, not a cut down of a standard size. Choose the next size up from the size you require and this will give you the price of the standard door with the relevant electric operator.
Design and Windows
Many different window options are available for the LPU67 as well as designer stainless steel elements embedded or embossed into the panels. The windows are constructed as double glazed units for maximum insulation and security.

For those who have high standards of finish inside their garage the LPU 67 is available with al the internal components powdercoat finished. Anyone who uses their garage as another room for the house wants a harmonious door view in the garage too. The premium version of the LPU 67 Thermo will meet these demands, the full frame, the tracks and connection rails and all fittings are available in Grey white RAL 9002, matching the inside of the door leaf. The door thereby blends harmoniously into the interior and adds value to your garage. The tandem track rollers also mean that your door runs very quietly and smoothly.
Installation
As with any of the insulated sectional doors the ideal installation position to benefit from the high levels of insulation is an internal face fit behind the garage opening. For this to work you require the sideroom and headroom to accommodate the frame, tracking and springs all dependant on the mechanism being used (Z,N or L)
Although all the sectional doors can be installed within reveal the maximum benefits of the insulated panels can be lost as the side frame and head frame sections are single skin steel as standard. Insulated panels can be purchased for the head infill section but for the sides you would have a compromise, only offset by maybe using some solid timber sections and creating a false face fit scenario. The sectional door has many installation accessories available and we suggest speaking to us if the installation isn’t straightforward because of site obstructions or lack of space as there is always a solution.
