The Garador Rochdale Timber up and over garage doors are made from the highest quality timber.

All of the timber garage doors are supplied with a neutralising base stain and are ready for on-site finishing.

Customise Your Garador Timber Up and Over Garage Door

Once you choose your nominal door width and height, the ordering drop down menu shows the operating gear available for that size. Single doors up to 8ft wide (2438mm) give you the choice of canopy or retractable gear. Single doors over 8ft wide and double width doors up to 16ft wide (4877mm) are supplied on retractable gear only to carry the heavier timber leaf safely and smoothly.

After confirming your dimensions and lifting gear, you can specify your finish, steel chassis, fixing frame, hardware and automation options below.

1. Factory Finished Door Colour Options

All Garador timber panels are built from quality Western Red Cedar. You can specify your timber finish in one of two ways:

  • Neutralising Base Stain: Supplied dipped in a base coat as standard, ready for you to finish on site in your chosen microporous exterior wood stain before or immediately after installation.
  • Factory Fully Finished: Treated at the factory with a durable microporous timber preservative in your choice of six wood stains: Light Oak, Antique Oak, Mahogany, Walnut, Chestnut or Ebony.

* In a perfect world we recommend the factory finish. It ensures every joint, tongue and rebate is protected before assembly and saves you significant preparation time on site.

2. Steel Chassis Colour

Every Garador timber door leaf is built around an internal galvanised box section steel chassis that provides structural rigidity. You can choose the powder coated colour of this rear chassis to complement your garage interior or sub frame:

  • Traffic White (RAL 9016): Clean and bright, ideal if your garage walls are painted or rendered white.
  • Terra Brown (RAL 8028): A dark brown finish that blends naturally with darker timber stains and timber sub frames.

3. Factory Fitted Steel Fixing Sub Frame

We highly recommend the Garador steel fixing frame as it offers the tightest tolerance around the edge of the door panel, creating a faster and neater fit compared to a standard timber subframe.

Because standard single doors arrive factory pre framed with the door panel, lifting arms and springs already mounted inside the steel box section frame, you do not need to assemble timber jambs or hang individual mechanism brackets from scratch. It also eliminates timber rot issues down at floor level. Finished in White or Terra Brown to match your chassis.

If you prefer to use an existing sound timber frame or fit a new timber frame of your own, choose without steel frame. The internal opening dimensions of your timber frame must match the door ordering dimensions exactly.

4. Choose Handle Option

Choose either a black nylon handle or a high quality diecast metal handle in white, brass or chrome effect.

  • Black Nylon Handle: Durable black composite handle set supplied as standard with two point internal rod locking.
  • Diecast Metal Handles: Upgrades available in white powder coat, chrome effect or brass effect to suit period ironmongery or front door fittings.
  • No Handle / Un-drilled Panel: If you are automating a retractable door from day one, you can order the door leaf plain with no external handle or keyhole for a cleaner visual appearance.

* Note: If your garage has no other entrance and you are fitting an electric operator, keep the handle prep so you can fit an external manual release kit through the lock hole.

5. Extra Security Locking

For manually operated doors we offer the option to upgrade to a 4 point locking rod system for improved security and resistance to forced entry. Combined with a steel sub frame the Garador locking rod system utilises the steel closing lip along with steel plates to prevent easy access to the internal locking catches for the door.

The improved security of a locking latch in each corner protects against forced entry.

Suitable for retractable gear options the electric operated 'De Latch Security Locking' system works with the existing manual locking mechanism, and the remote control operator, by connecting with a mechanical latching system to provide 3 point locking security.

The 'De Latch Security Locking' system is not suitable for canopy doors.

6. Remote Control Electric Operator

Complete with two hand transmitters the Garamatic 9 electric operator is reliable, secure and offers excellent value for money. The operator is maintenance free and creates a super smooth and quiet door. Other features include a manual override option, for the event of power failure, an integral LED light with 10 LEDs to combine for low power consumption and it complies with the latest European safety standards. Short K boom is included with this motor, it will be suitable for doors up to 2500mm high.

  • GaraMatic 9: 750N peak force, 20cm per second speed, integrated 10 LED courtesy light. Ideal for single timber doors up to 8ft wide.
  • GaraMatic 10: 800N peak force, 25cm per second speed, integrated 20 LED light, integrated Bluetooth receiver for smartphone control and a two digit display. The recommended choice for larger single timber doors.
  • GaraMatic 20: 1000N peak force with heavy duty drive capacity, designed specifically for double width timber doors up to 16ft wide or doors in frequent daily use.

* Canopy doors require an optional canopy bow arm conversion kit if being automated with a GaraMatic 9, but retractable gear is always the preferred route for electric operation.

7. Emergency External Release

Required for garages without alternative means of access to the garage. This system attaches a cable internally, within the garage, and offers a way to externally disconnect the remote control operator towing arm, perfect in the event of a power failure.

Turning the key from outside disengages the trolley drive mechanism so you can lift the door by hand and avoid being locked out during power cuts.

Please note that the Retractable doors do not have a back brace.
