After selecting the size, your door is supplied in a classic white factory finish, giving you a clean, modern palette that works beautifully with most brick, render and cladding styles. The Centre Ribbed design can be specified in vertical or horizontal orientation, so you can echo the lines of your windows, cladding or entrance door for a more coordinated frontage. You can also decide how the pair of leaves is configured: equal halves for a balanced look, or a wider main leaf with a smaller secondary leaf to make everyday pedestrian access easier while still allowing a full opening when both are used.

Threshold and access options

Threshold choices let you balance weather protection with ease of access. The standard three part ramped aluminium threshold with bulb seal and thermal break creates a robust raised sill that helps block dust, debris and draughts. If you prefer a lower step, you can opt for a one part ramped threshold that still carries a seal and thermal break, or a simple low aluminium strip threshold where the smoothest possible transition for bikes, trolleys or mobility aids is the priority. For garages that are no longer used for vehicles, four sided frame options with 55mm or 40mm full overlap thresholds are available, creating a complete frame all around the opening with additional weather protection at the base.

Locking, handles and hardware

Security can be tailored from a robust single point latch and deadbolt lock through to upgraded three point locking on the active leaf, where additional pins or hooks at the head and cill help resist attempts to prise the leaves apart. All locks are paired with a high security cylinder that includes anti-drill and anti-pick protection, with convenient thumb turn operation on the inside so you can lock or unlock without a key when you are in the garage. Handle options range from the standard stainless steel lever set with matching escutcheons to a more styled CarTeck lever handle, plus alternative finishes to coordinate with your other external hardware. For a more architectural look you can choose tall stainless steel D handles, available in different lengths and fitted to the active leaf only or to both leaves, giving the door a strong, contemporary pull handle detail.

Extra features and finishing touches

You can further customise the door with fixed side panels to reduce an oversized opening, allowing a made to measure side hinged set to replace an old double up and over door while neatly infilling surplus width. Practical extras such as letter boxes, mechanical code locks, pet flaps, finger pulls and spy holes can all be incorporated, so you can post mail, let pets in and out, or check outside the garage without opening the door.

Panel finishes and appearance

Carteck side hinged doors are supplied as standard in Traffic White embossed woodgrain on the outside and a grey white stucco internal face (RAL 9002), with no visible bracing bars or exposed mechanisms on the inside. Panel surfaces can also be specified in Woodgrain, Smooth, Stucco or Micro Profile textures, allowing you to match the door finish to other doors and windows on the property.

Frame, sizing and threshold

Every door is made to measure and factory fitted into a fully finished aluminium fixing sub frame, which simplifies installation, keeps closing gaps tight and maximises the usable opening width and height.

A stepped 3-part aluminium threshold with integrated bulb seal is supplied as standard; it improves weather sealing at the bottom of the door and can be extended beyond the frame legs to create a neat, continuous sill line across adjacent openings.

Locking, cylinder and hardware

High security locking options include 3-point locking on suitable door heights and recessed lever-action flush bolts that secure the inactive leaf at the head and cill. The upgraded Euro profile cylinder is BS EN1303 Grade 2, anti-drill and anti-pick, supplied with three keys and a sacrificial break-off section to protect the mechanism if attacked. Stainless steel external lever handles and lock covers, a DIN standard CE-marked sash lock, internal thumb turn cylinder (or optional double cylinder) and door stays on each leaf provide a robust and user-friendly hardware package.

Hinges and security

Concealed, heavy duty adjustable hinges are standard on all Carteck side hinged doors, improving the clear drive-through width and making trimming and finishing around the frame easier. They create a clean, contemporary appearance and enhance security by removing exposed hinge knuckles as a point of attack, making it harder to lever the door open.

Glazing and window options

You can add scratch-resistant polymer double glazed windows or upgrade to high grade aluminium window designs. Windows are priced per unit and can be arranged in a variety of configurations across the door leaves to bring natural light into the garage while maintaining the strength and insulation of the door.

Installation of this door is straightforward because it is supplied as a complete, factory assembled doorset with the fixing sub frame and hardware already fitted.

• Installation is a two person job and should be carried out using suitable tools, fixings and personal protective equipment.
• Always follow the full Teckentrup/Carteck fitting instructions supplied with the door.

In brief, carefully unpack the door, position the assembled frame and door set in the prepared opening, and use the built-in jacking bolts or packers to level and square the frame before fixing through the frame into the surrounding structure. Check that both leaves open, close and latch correctly, then fit and adjust the 3-part threshold (and any optional strip threshold), door stays and any finishing trims as required. Finally, clean down the door and carry out a functional check of locking, hinges and stays before handing over to the customer.

The door is delivered with the frame, hinges and all major components factory fitted, ready for easy on-site installation.

• •  On panels against rust penetration from the inside to the outside.
• •  Against door panel separation of the steel skins from the inner foam core.
• •  On material and manufacturing flaws of all non-moving parts of the frame that are verifiably unusable.
• •  On the floor seal, intermediate seals and frame weather seals against rotting.

Please note: The guarantee does not apply to doors that are subjected to extreme conditions, such as corrosive influences resulting from use in a coastal climate with high salt content, unless the relevant coastal paint upgrades were specified at the point of order. Regular cleaning of the door finish is required to maintain the warranty.

How to measure for your Carteck Side Hinged Door

The width and height you enter when ordering refer to the overall size of the complete doorset, including the aluminium fixing sub frame. This is the total space the door and frame will occupy in your opening, as illustrated in the drawing below.

Because the door and frame are delivered factory assembled as a single unit, the measurements you provide are the exact dimensions to which the doorset will be manufactured. There is no trimming or resizing on site.

Please ensure your ordering dimensions already include any fitting tolerances or clearances you wish to allow around the doorset. The door will be built precisely to the figures entered, so take time to measure your opening carefully before placing your order.
