Carteck XL Georgian Insulated Sectional Garage Door

Size Range

The Carteck XL Georgian insulated sectional garage door is engineered for larger garage openings where a traditional raised panel look is required alongside modern performance.

  • Maximum width available up to 6250mm, making it ideal for large single openings or wide double garages.
  • Maximum height available up to around 2500mm, depending on your exact project and configuration.
  • Available in purpose made sizes to perfectly fit your opening.

Door Construction

These automatic insulated sectional doors feature a classic Georgian cassette layout to provide a traditional raised panel appearance across the entire door.

  • Constructed with double skinned steel sections and 40mm polyurethane insulation to provide a strong and rigid final door leaf.
  • Interlocking panel joints feature integrated seals and finger safe profiles for smooth, safe operation.
  • Supplied with a galvanised steel fixing frame and head section.

Thermal Performance and Weather Protection

The 40mm insulated core significantly helps to reduce heat loss, making this door a great choice for attached garages or spaces used as workshops and gyms.

  • Features continuous soft rubber sealing around the entire perimeter to protect against drafts and driven rain.
  • A robust EPDM rubber floor seal sits at the bottom of the door to help compress against the floor and take up minor unevenness at the threshold. A level floor is essential for the best results.

Lifting Gear and Hardware

Because the XL range is designed for larger sizes, the hardware is specifically upgraded to handle the additional weight securely and safely.

  • Utilises a rear mounted torsion spring arrangement as standard for a balanced and controlled lift.
  • Features strengthened roller brackets and reinforced panel profiles to fully support the door structure.
  • Ball bearing rollers run in galvanised steel tracks for a smooth and quiet operation.

Electric Operation

The Carteck XL is supplied as a fully automatic door as standard, giving you remote controlled access right out of the box.

  • Powered by a high output rail drive operator sized specifically to handle the weight and width of your chosen door.
  • Supplied with remote control handsets and an internal control point as standard.
  • Built in force monitoring automatically reverses the door if an obstruction is detected, ensuring safe everyday use.
  • Requires a standard single phase 13 amp power supply.

Finishes, Colours and Options

  • The Georgian cassette design is exclusively available in a practical woodgrain external surface texture.
  • Choose from 24 standard colours, including trend colours and woodgrain effects, or upgrade to any RAL colour.
  • Optional rectangular window designs are available to introduce natural light into the garage, perfectly replacing the standard raised cassettes.

Installation Requirements

These doors are highly versatile and can be comfortably installed either behind or directly between your brickwork reveal, assuming you have the correct structure to fix to.

  • Please ensure you allow for the minimum required headroom above the opening to accommodate the spring assembly, tracks, and electric operator.
  • You must also allow for minimum clear side space on each side of the opening to fit the 90mm frame legs and fixing brackets.

These specification details provide a general guide for the Carteck XL Georgian insulated sectional garage door. Exact figures, clearances, and options may vary slightly with the final door size and chosen operator package. Please contact us at GarageDoorsOnline for project specific guidance if you are unsure.

Options to Configure Your Georgian Door

Sizing Your Door

When ordering your Carteck XL insulated sectional door, start by selecting the relevant 'up to' sizes. Simply choose the next size up from your actual requirements for both the width and height. Once you proceed to the order stage, you can enter the exact dimensions required in the ordering boxes provided.

Electric Operation as Standard

The Carteck XL is an electrically operated sectional door as standard. Your order includes all the necessary equipment to give you a fully remote-controlled garage door, with all the essential safety and security features already built into the operator. With the automation taken care of, choosing your specification is mainly about the final appearance and how you would prefer to control the door.

Door Colour Options

There are 24 standard finished colours to choose from for the door panels, which includes 20 trend colours and 4 woodgrain effect colours. If you need a specific match for your property, you can also choose ANY RAL colour at an extra cost. Please email or call us to discuss the exact RAL colour and pricing if required.

Panel Surface Textures

To perfectly complement the traditional, classic style of the pressed cassettes, the Georgian panel design is exclusively available with a woodgrain surface texture.

The woodgrain texture is highly practical for everyday use, as the subtle pattern naturally helps to absorb and hide any small dents or scratches over time, keeping the door looking smarter for longer.

Window and Glazing Options

You can also add windows to your door, which is ideal for bringing natural light into the garage or allowing vision outside. Because this is the Georgian design, the window options are specifically rectangular so that they perfectly replace the raised cassette shape on the solid panel, maintaining the traditional layout of the door.

These rectangular windows are available with three different options for the glazing inserts. As standard, the glazing itself is made from a tough polymer and is double glazed to make sure you maintain the thermal insulation benefits of the overall door.

Frame Finish Options

The steel fixing frame legs, which are 90mm wide, and the top head fascia section, which is typically 120mm deep, are supplied in white as standard. Because the XL range features colour matched frames and headers, they can be comfortably installed either behind or directly between your brickwork reveal.

If you are fitting the door in between your brickwork opening, you can upgrade to have the frame factory finished in a colour to closely match the door panels for a much tidier overall look. Always remember to allow for some fitting tolerance when ordering your sizes for a between-fit installation.

Control and Access Options

The standard electric operator comes with two remote control handsets and an internal control button. We offer many additional control options, including alternative wall controls and access systems, so please contact us to discuss your requirements if the standard remote handsets are not sufficient for your needs.

* If your garage door is the only access into your garage, we strongly recommend adding an external emergency manual release so that you can still open the door from the outside in the event of a power cut.

Installation Guidance – XL Georgian Insulated Sectional Garage Door

Supplied as standard with a rear mounted torsion spring mechanism and boom style electric motor drive. The information below provides general installation guidance and key points to consider when preparing the opening and planning the fit. Installation instructins are provided with every door and available as a PDF download. There is also a generic video guide to show a door being installed and it is only the rear spring system differeing to other Carteck sectional door models

General installation requirements

  • The door must be installed by a competent installer familiar with sectional garage door systems.
  • The supporting structure (walls, lintel and ceiling) must be sound, level and capable of taking the fixing loads.
  • The floor at the threshold should be as level as possible to allow the bottom seal to sit correctly and provide an effective weather barrier.
  • All measurements should be checked carefully before ordering, including clear opening width, clear opening height, headroom and sideroom.

Headroom and sideroom

  • Rear mounted torsion spring gear is fitted above the opening on the inside face of the garage.
  • A minimum clear headroom is required to accommodate the spring shaft, cable drums and horizontal tracks (exact dimensions depend on door size and configuration).
  • Sideroom is required on both sides of the opening for the frame legs, track brackets and fixings. Tolerances for fitting would be required when nstalling between the opening and possible some extra profiles for a clean finish on the surround.

Rear‑mounted torsion spring system

  • The torsion spring shaft is installed along the rear of the lintel line, inside the garage, supported by secure brackets fixed to the structure.
  • Springs are pre selected and set to match the weight and size of the XL door, ensuring balanced lifting and controlled movement.
  • Lift cables run from the bottom corner brackets up to the cable drums on the spring shaft, providing smooth, even lifting across the full width of the door.
  • Correct spring tensioning is essential for safe and reliable operation and must only be carried out using the appropriate tools and methods.

Track and frame installation

  • Vertical frame legs are fixed either behind or between the reveals, depending on the chosen installation position and structure.
  • Horizontal tracks are aligned with the vertical guides and secured to the ceiling or roof structure using suitable hangers and brackets.
  • Tracks must be level, parallel and correctly positioned to ensure the door moves freely without binding or excessive play.
  • All fixings should be checked and tightened to the recommended levels before commissioning the door.

Electric motor drive – standard

  • The XL door is supplied as standard with an electric rail drive operator matched to the size and weight of the door.
  • The motor unit is usually mounted to the garage ceiling, with the drive rail aligned centrally to the door and connected to the top panel via a carriage arm.
  • A suitable 13 A single‑phase power supply is required, installed in accordance with current electrical regulations.
  • Limit settings for open and closed positions are adjusted during commissioning so the door stops accurately at both ends of travel.
  • Safety features such as force monitoring and auto‑reverse must be tested after installation to confirm correct operation.

Alignment, checks and commissioning

  • Before first powered operation, the door should be tested manually to confirm smooth, balanced movement without catching or rubbing.
  • Panel joints, hinges and rollers should be checked to ensure they are correctly seated in the tracks and free from obstruction.
  • Once the motor is connected, open and close cycles should be run to fine‑tune limits and verify smooth acceleration and stopping.
  • Safety stop and reverse functions must be tested using an appropriate obstruction to ensure compliance with safety requirements.

Ongoing maintenance after installation

  • Fixings, brackets and track supports should be visually checked at regular intervals for tightness and signs of wear.
  • Rollers, hinges and moving parts may require periodic lubrication with a suitable light oil or manufacturer‑approved product.
  • The door surface and seals should be kept clean to maintain smooth operation and protect the finish.
  • Any adjustments to the torsion spring system or major components should only be carried out by a trained installer or service engineer.

Because of the size and weight of the Carteck XL sectional door, professional installation is strongly recommended to ensure correct operation, full safety performance and long‑term reliability.
