The Benefits of Purpose Made Precision
Originally developed over 20 years ago specifically for the UK market by the renowned German brand Teckentrup, the custom sized CarTeck range allows you to maximize your drive through width and height. Because every millimetre of your opening is utilized, you avoid the compromises forced by trying to make a standard door clumsily fit a non standard space. Manufactured right here in the UK, you benefit from a truly bespoke door with excellent delivery times, world class German engineering and total peace of mind backed by exceptional warranty terms.
Transform Your Space with Insulated Strength
An exact fit insulated CarTeck sectional door instantly upgrades a cold and draughty garage into a more usable and comfortable space, which is ideal for the wet and windy climate in the UK. The 40 mm thick insulated steel panels combined with full perimeter sealing—tailored exactly to your opening dimensions—keep out draughts, rain and dust far better than basic up and over doors. The precise vertical lift with no outward swing also makes parking easier on shorter driveways and frees up more room inside the garage.
Key Features of a Custom CarTeck Sectional Door
- Precision made to measure sizing up to an impressive 8m wide and 3m high for a perfect architectural fit.
- 40 mm double skin insulated steel panels for superior strength, security and everyday durability.
- Independently tested whole door U value around 1.38 W/m²K, maximizing energy efficiency for integral garages.
- Full, exact fit weather seals between panels, frame and threshold to completely cut out draughts and moisture.
- CE and UKCA marked and tested to current safety, wind, water and air performance standards.
Exclusive Colours and In House UK Finishing
CarTeck is uniquely positioned as the only sectional garage door manufacturer in the UK to factory finish their bespoke doors in house. This ensures exceptional quality control and guarantees colours that perfectly suit the style of homes in this country.
- The Centre Ribbed model offers four distinct wood effect finishes.
- The wider bespoke range features 50 standard colours, or doors can be supplied in almost any RAL colour to match existing windows.
- Up to four external surface finishes such as smooth, woodgrain and textured are available at no extra charge.
- Your purpose made door is supplied with exact colour matched frames and optional frame covers to complete the clean, premium look.
Custom Window and Glazing Options
Bring natural light into your garage and add style with a wide choice of factory fitted window designs carefully laid out to suit your specific door width. From simple square or rectangular units to contemporary shaped Bling windows and full width vision sections, you can tailor the look from traditional to ultra modern. Glazing uses double pane and scratch resistant polymer in clear, satin, frosted or tinted options so you can balance privacy with daylight.
Benefits of Electric Operation and Control
Electric operation makes daily use effortless. You can open and close your bespoke door from the car at the touch of a button, which is perfect on dark and wet evenings. CarTeck DRIVE and MOTOR operators are smooth, quiet and powerful enough to easily lift even the largest custom sizes, featuring force monitoring that stops and reverses if the door meets an obstruction. We offer a wide range of these electric operators at the best possible prices, and you can seamlessly add handheld remotes, internal wall controls, wireless keypads and smart app control such as SOMweb or myQ.
Insulation, Energy and Integral Garages
Because a purpose made door seals the opening so precisely, it is the ultimate choice if your garage is attached to the house or has a room above. The improved insulation and exact weather stripping drastically reduce heat loss and keep adjacent rooms more comfortable. A warmer, drier and better sealed garage is far better for using the space as a gym, workshop or utility area and helps protect stored items from damp and condensation. Optional humidity controlled ventilation via the operator can automatically open the door slightly to dry out a wet car while still managing heat loss.
CarTeck Spring Mechanism and Safety
Pre tensioned and concealed lifting springs alongside precision running gear give a smooth and well balanced action that feels light to operate and reduces strain on the motor. On larger bespoke doors, upgraded torsion springs and heavy duty hardware keep operation safe, stable and quiet even at very wide sizes. All custom doors and openers are tested together and CE and UKCA marked to BS EN 13241, so you benefit from a fully certified system rather than a mixed system setup.
Choose Door Panel Colour Finish:
Create an elegant look with this modern steel door in a classic wood effect in either Golden oak and Winchester Oak in a laminate finish or Rosewood and Night oak in a painted finish.
Frame legs and Head to compliment door colour:
Although many sectional garage doors are fitted behind the garage opening so you don’t see the sub frame you will still see the edge of the frame where it has a small return section. The standard frame leg and head cover colour is white, alternatively, colours can be selected to compliment your door. These colours will be in a painted finish and not an exact match to the main door.
Installation Position:
Tell us whether you are fitting the door behind or inbetween the structural opening.
Sectional garage doors were originally designed to install behind the structural opening of a garage but it is now possible to fit the door inbetween if required – when there are no returns, internal obstacles, etc.
The sizes for ordering should be carefully calculated when fitting inbetween the opening reducing the ordering width by the frame legs and head section along with a tolerance for fitting too. See our ‘Measure’ tab for full details.
Inbetween Opening Installation Kit:
If fitting the door inbetween the structural opening you will need this kit to secure the steel sub frame to the opening with the special set of bracketry.
Choose Remote Control Operator Model
We highly recommend the Carteck Drive 600Nm electric operator for the Carteck Sectional door range. The 600NM is only a fraction more than the 500Nm but it is 33% faster in opening speed and more powerful too obviously and hence our operator of choice for this door range.
The standard Carteck Drive 600Nm is a one piece integrated unit with boom, motor and control in one unit to mount above the door. The Drive Pro 600Nm has a separate control unit than can be mounted wherever is most convenient in your garage to suit.
Both systems have remote control operation as standard and both have an integrated courtesy LED light built in which operated when the motor is used and switches off automatically. Add options for additional control as required from our options list
Emergency External Release for garages with a second entrance:
If you have no other means of access into your garage then we strongly advise you have an emergency manual release mechanism. It is a key cylinder operated from the outside of the door which provides a manual facility to disengage the motor drive from the door enabling the door to be lifted manually when there is a power failure.
Wireless 2 function Wall Switch:
This is a remote control device in the form of a wall mounted 2 button switch to control one or 2 garage doors from inside your garage or home. Like a light switch but without and cables and a battery remote control signal for operation. (Called Access Pack 2).
Bespoke Colour Options
Wood design - modern steel door in a classic wood look:
Create an elegant, exact fit look with this purpose made steel door in four stunning wood effect options:
Golden Oak (laminate finish)
Winchester (laminate finish)
Rosewood (painted)
Night Oak (painted)
The precision cut frame is finished in white as standard, unless a colour coordinated frame and head is selected from the drop down menu.*
*Winchester and Golden Oak Woodgrains come with a flat brown colour RAL 8014 frame.
Night Oak and Rosewood come with a complementary colour, but again will not be an exact colour match to the door. Please contact us if you require any further details on your custom frame finish.
Optional Extras for Your Custom Door:
Handle: No external handle is fitted as standard. One will be required for a manually operated door.
External Emergency Release: Fitted as standard in the top left hand corner of all doors.
Inbetween Opening Installation Kit: Because this purpose made door is manufactured to your exact dimensions, fitting inbetween the structural opening is an excellent way to maximize space. If you are fitting inbetween, this kit is required to adapt the steel frame which is designed as standard for behind fitting. The legs of the frame when fitted inbetween will have a series of factory drilled holes showing which will require a cloaking strip (not provided).*
*When measuring your custom size for fitting between the opening, please deduct 180mm from your total opening width to determine the precise ordering width.
Deduct 120mm for manual doors and 140mm for electric operation (unless the additional fitting bracket is purchased, then 120mm applies) from the opening height to determine your exact ordering height.
Remote Control Electric Operator:
The CarTeck Drive 600N provides smooth, effortless power to lift any custom size door.
The integrated drive and control unit of the CarTeck Drive fits discreetly above the door.
The fixed chain drive of the CarTeck Drive range is quieter and renowned for long term reliability compared to revolving chain or belt designs, making it perfect for heavier, purpose made bespoke doors.
The CarTeck Drive 600N comes with two Pearl Handsets as standard. The Pearl transmitters feature 4 function buttons for complete convenience.
The Difference Between the CarTeck Drive and the Drive Pro:
The CarTeck Drive Pro features a separate control unit that can be mounted by an existing power outlet or at a convenient position in the garage, perhaps by a side access door so you can open or close the purpose made door using the push buttons on the front of the control unit as you leave or enter your garage.
A wide range of additional accessories are available for the Drive 600 (Pro) to tailor the system exactly to your lifestyle.
Please Note: For custom door heights greater than 2375mm, a 1096mm rail extension will be required at an extra cost to accommodate the extended travel distance.
Installation Position:
Fitting within the reveal - no holes in frame.
Please Note: For any custom door heights over 2250mm high, the frames cannot be supplied undrilled.
Safer, Simpler Installation with Preloaded Tension Springs
Unlike many other sectional garage doors that rely on complex and potentially dangerous high-tension torsion springs mounted directly above the door, the CarTeck system utilises a far safer, multi-spring tension system.
To make installation as straightforward and safe as possible, all single layer spring trays for standard CarTeck doors are now supplied fully pre-assembled straight from the factory. The high level tension springs come preloaded within their fully enclosed steel trays, complete with the lifting cables already perfectly routed and retained by anti-twist brackets. This incredibly smart design not only prevents dirt from entering the mechanism, boosting durability, but it also dramatically speeds up the installation process on site. The multiple spring system evenly balances the weight of the door panels, whilst the dual retaining cables reliably support the door in all situations, meaning it remains safe and operational even in an emergency. Because the springs are safely housed within these steel channels, tensioning the door is significantly safer and easier than wrestling with an exposed torsion spring bar.

How to Measure for Your Bespoke CarTeck Sectional Door
Because this CarTeck Centre Ribbed Wood Design is a purpose made model, getting your measurements right guarantees a flawless, exact fit for your unique garage. Unlike standard doors that force you to compromise with clumsy infill panels or awkward gaps, this custom door is manufactured to your precise internal structural opening dimensions (your actual drive-through width and height). The steel installation frame is then calculated perfectly around these bespoke dimensions, ensuring every millimetre of your opening is utilized.
For quick visual reference, please refer to the 3D technical drawings lower down on this page. These clearly show how your custom frame will fit in relation to the opening.
Measuring for a 'Behind the Opening' Fit (Standard)
This is the ideal and most common way to install a purpose-made sectional door. By fitting the door and its steel framework entirely on the inner face of the garage wall, you maximize your drive-through width and achieve the cleanest possible exterior look.
- Width: Measure the brick to brick width of your garage opening in several places. Because your door is bespoke, your exact ordering width is simply the smallest of these measurements.
- Height: Measure from the finished floor level to the underside of the lintel. Your bespoke ordering height is this exact measurement.
- Check your clearances: Because the custom frame sits behind the brickwork, you must ensure you have sufficient internal space. You will need a minimum of 85mm to 90mm of clear sideroom on both the left and right sides of the opening to accommodate the frame legs.
- Check your headroom: You must also have a minimum of 120mm of clear headroom between the lintel and the ceiling to accommodate the top track and motor (this increases to 140mm for very large purpose-made doors requiring double springing).
Measuring for an 'Inbetween the Opening' Fit
If your garage lacks internal brickwork returns, the bespoke nature of this door is a huge advantage. It can be manufactured to sit perfectly directly between the brick pillars using the optional 'Inbetween Opening Installation Kit', maximizing the space you do have without overlapping the brickwork.
- Width: Measure your brick-to-brick opening. Because the frame sits between the walls, to find your exact custom ordering width, you must deduct 180mm from this opening size (this precise deduction allows for the two frame legs and a perfect fitting tolerance).
- Height: Measure your floor-to-lintel height. To find your exact ordering height, you must deduct 120mm (if installing a manual door or using the additional low-headroom bracket) or deduct 140mm (for standard electric operation without the special bracket).
Important Depth Check: Even a custom sized sectional door travels horizontally into the garage space. It is essential to check that your garage is deep enough to accommodate the full length of the precise tracks and the motor boom. Ensure you have clear, unobstructed space running back into the garage equivalent to your custom door height plus approximately 350mm to 600mm.
If you have any doubts whatsoever about measuring for your purpose-made garage opening, please contact our expert team for verification before placing your bespoke order.
