The Benefits of Purpose Made Precision

Originally developed over 20 years ago specifically for the UK market by the renowned German brand Teckentrup, the custom sized CarTeck range allows you to maximise your drive through width and height. Because every millimetre of your opening is utilised, you avoid the compromises forced by trying to make a standard door awkwardly fit a non standard space. Manufactured right here in the UK, you benefit from a truly bespoke door with excellent delivery times, world class German engineering and total peace of mind backed by exceptional warranty terms.

Transform Your Space with Insulated Strength

An exact fit insulated CarTeck sectional door instantly upgrades a cold and draughty garage into a more usable and comfortable space, which is ideal for the wet and windy climate in the UK. The 40 mm thick insulated steel panels combined with full perimeter sealing—tailored exactly to your opening dimensions—keep out draughts, rain and dust far better than basic up and over doors. The precise vertical lift with no outward swing also makes parking easier on shorter driveways and frees up valuable room inside the garage.

Key Features of a Custom CarTeck Sectional Door

  • Precision made to measure sizing up to an impressive 8m wide and 3m high for a perfect architectural fit.
  • 40 mm double skin insulated flat steel panels ensuring superior strength, security and everyday durability.
  • Independently tested whole door U value around 1.38 W/m²K, maximising energy efficiency for integral garages.
  • Full, exact fit weather seals between panels, frame and threshold to completely cut out draughts and moisture.
  • CE and UKCA marked and tested to current safety, wind, water and air performance standards.

Exclusive Colours and In House UK Finishing

CarTeck is uniquely positioned as the only sectional garage door manufacturer in the UK to factory finish their bespoke doors in house. This ensures exceptional quality control and guarantees finishes that perfectly suit the style of homes in this country.

  • This custom Solid model features four highly realistic wood effect finishes: Golden Oak, Winchester, Rosewood and Night Oak.
  • The wider bespoke range features 50 solid colours, and doors can be supplied in almost any RAL colour to match existing UPVC windows and entrance doors.
  • Up to four external surface finishes such as smooth, woodgrain and textured are available on most doors at no extra charge.
  • Your purpose made door is supplied with exact colour matched frames and optional frame covers to complete the clean, premium look.

Custom Window and Glazing Options

Bring natural light into your garage and add style with a wide choice of factory fitted window designs carefully laid out to suit your specific custom door width. From simple square or rectangular units to contemporary shaped Bling windows and full width vision sections, you can tailor the look to match the ultra modern feel of the flat solid panels. Glazing uses double pane and scratch resistant polymer in clear, satin, frosted or tinted options so you can balance privacy with daylight.

Benefits of Electric Operation and Control

Electric operation makes daily use effortless. You can open and close your bespoke door from the car at the touch of a button, which is perfect on dark and wet evenings. CarTeck DRIVE and MOTOR operators are smooth, quiet and powerful enough to easily lift even the largest custom sizes, featuring intelligent force monitoring that stops and reverses if the door meets an obstruction. We offer a wide range of these electric operators at the best possible prices, and you can seamlessly add handheld remotes, internal wall controls, wireless keypads and smart app control such as SOMweb or myQ to suit your household.

Insulation, Energy and Integral Garages

Because a purpose made door seals the opening so precisely, it is the ultimate choice if your garage is attached to the house or has a room above. The improved insulation and exact weather stripping drastically reduce heat loss and keep adjacent rooms more comfortable. A warmer, drier and better sealed garage is far better for using the space as a home gym, workshop or utility area, and it helps protect stored items from damp and condensation. Optional humidity controlled ventilation via the smart operator can automatically open the door slightly to dry out a wet car while still managing heat loss.

CarTeck Spring Mechanism and Safety

Pre tensioned and concealed lifting springs alongside precision running gear give a smooth and well balanced action that feels light to operate and reduces strain on the electric motor. On larger bespoke doors, upgraded torsion springs and heavy duty hardware keep operation safe, stable and quiet even at very wide custom sizes. All custom doors and openers are tested together and CE and UKCA marked to BS EN 13241, so you benefit from a fully certified system.

Choose Door Panel Colour Finish:Wood colour options
Create an elegant look with this modern steel door in a classic wood effect in either Golden oak and Winchester Oak in a laminate finish or Rosewood and Night oak in a painted finish.

Frame legs and Head to compliment door colour:
Although many sectional garage doors are fitted behind the garage opening so you don’t see the sub frame you will still see the edge of the frame where it has a small return section. The standard frame leg and head cover colour is white, alternatively, colours can be selected to compliment your door. These colours will be in a painted finish and not an exact match to the main door.

Installation Position:
Tell us whether you are fitting the door behind or inbetween the structural opening.
Sectional garage doors were originally designed to install behind the structural opening of a garage but it is now possible to fit the door inbetween if required – when there are no returns, internal obstacles, etc.
The sizes for ordering should be carefully calculated when fitting inbetween the opening reducing the ordering width by the frame legs and head section along with a tolerance for fitting too. See our ‘Measure’ tab for full details.

Inbetween Opening Installation Kit:
If fitting the door inbetween the structural opening you will need this kit to secure the steel sub frame to the opening with the special set of bracketry.

Choose Remote Control Operator Model
We highly recommend the Carteck Drive 600Nm electric operator for the Carteck Sectional door range. The 600NM is only a fraction more than the 500Nm but it is 33% faster in opening speed and more powerful too obviously and hence our operator of choice for this door range.
The standard Carteck Drive 600Nm is a one piece integrated unit with boom, motor and control in one unit to mount above the door. The Drive Pro 600Nm has a separate control unit than can be mounted wherever is most convenient in your garage to suit.
Both systems have remote control operation as standard and both have an integrated courtesy LED light built in which operated when the motor is used and switches off automatically. Add options for additional control as required from our options list

Emergency External Release for garages with a second entrance:
If you have no other means of access into your garage then we strongly advise you have an emergency manual release mechanism. It is a key cylinder operated from the outside of the door which provides a manual facility to disengage the motor drive from the door enabling the door to be lifted manually when there is a power failure.

Wireless 2 function Wall Switch:
This is a remote control device in the form of a wall mounted 2 button switch to control one or 2 garage doors from inside your garage or home. Like a light switch but without and cables and a battery remote control signal for operation. (Called Access Pack 2).

Panel Construction

The door leaves feature an eight layer construction built around 40 mm thick panels made from twin 0.4 mm galvanised steel skins. These skins are bonded to a highly stable foam core with integrated thermal insulation and finished with highly effective adhesion primers and sealed top coatings for maximum wear resistance. This robust design achieves an impressive complete door thermal insulation U value of 1.38 W/m²K, while the individual panels themselves test at 0.56 W/m²K.

Weather Sealing

Comprehensive weather protection is achieved through flexible rubber sealing positioned at the frame header, down the frame sides and between every single door panel. A heavy duty rubber threshold seal sits at the bottom of the door, and Teckentrup can even manufacture a sloping bottom panel to precisely accommodate uneven garage floors. Additionally, a special plastic element separates the vertical frame sections from the floor to ensure the base aerates quickly and is protected against creeping dampness and corrosion.

Certified Performance

Every CarTeck sectional door is independently tested and CE and UKCA marked to guarantee compliance with all current safety and building legislation. The doors meet the heavy duty demands of everyday residential use and adhere to strict European performance standards.

Performance Characteristic European Standard CarTeck Rating
Resistance to Windload EN 12424 Class 2
Watertightness EN 12425 Class 2
Air Permeability EN 12426 Class 2

Industry Leading Wood Effect Finishes

CarTeck offers incredibly realistic wood effect finishes, ensuring an exact match for almost any architectural style or existing UPVC window frames without the maintenance associated with real timber.

Wood Effects

  • Golden Oak (Laminate Foil Finish)
  • Winchester (Laminate Foil Finish)
  • Rosewood (Painted Finish)
  • Night Oak (Painted Finish)

Please note that frame legs, headers and 3D profiles in the Night Oak and Rosewood painted finishes are finished in a matching complementing RAL colour, while Golden Oak and Winchester are supplied as a decorative laminate foil.

Sizes Available

CarTeck sectional doors are manufactured to exact measurements to ensure a perfect fit for almost any garage opening, broken down into three main size categories:

  • Standard Range: The normal standard sizing covers door widths up to 5500 mm and door heights up to 3000 mm, offering a made to measure fit for the vast majority of residential double and single garages.
  • XL Range: When openings exceed the standard width, the XL sectional garage doors extend the available size from 5501 mm up to 6250 mm wide, with heights available up to 2500 mm.
  • SuperSize Range: For exceptionally large spans, SuperSize doors start above 5500 mm wide and can reach a massive 8000 mm wide in a single continuous span, with heights available up to 3000 mm.

Lifting Gear

Standard sized CarTeck doors employ market leading sectional lifting gear featuring fully concealed lifting springs that provide a remarkably quiet and smooth action. The XL and SuperSize models upgrade to rear mount torsion springs, heavy duty roller brackets and extra panel reinforcing profiles to safely manage the increased weight of the larger door leaves. Across all sizes, robust galvanised steel roller blocks and ball bearing runner rails guarantee a long service life with minimal operational noise.

Automation Systems

Teckentrup pairs these sectional doors with smart technology openers that actively monitor operational forces and will push back with 60 kg of force if forced entry is attempted. Integrated control units like the CarTeck DRIVE and CarTeck MOTOR series provide effortless operation with varying power levels, integrated LED lighting and smart home connectivity options.

Motor Model Pulling Force Operating Speed Lighting
CarTeck DRIVE 500 500 Nm 180 mm/sec 3 LED Motor Light
CarTeck DRIVE 600 600 Nm 240 mm/sec 6 LED Motor Light
CarTeck MOTOR L60 600 N 160 mm/sec 1 LED Motor Light
CarTeck MOTOR L75 750 N 200 mm/sec 1 LED Motor Light

Safer, Simpler Installation with Preloaded Tension Springs

Unlike many other sectional garage doors that rely on complex and potentially dangerous high-tension torsion springs mounted directly above the door, the CarTeck system utilises a far safer, multi-spring tension system.

To make installation as straightforward and safe as possible, all single layer spring trays for standard CarTeck doors are now supplied fully pre-assembled straight from the factory. The high level tension springs come preloaded within their fully enclosed steel trays, complete with the lifting cables already perfectly routed and retained by anti-twist brackets. This incredibly smart design not only prevents dirt from entering the mechanism, boosting durability, but it also dramatically speeds up the installation process on site. The multiple spring system evenly balances the weight of the door panels, whilst the dual retaining cables reliably support the door in all situations, meaning it remains safe and operational even in an emergency. Because the springs are safely housed within these steel channels, tensioning the door is significantly safer and easier than wrestling with an exposed torsion spring bar.

How to Measure for Your Bespoke CarTeck Sectional Door

Because this CarTeck Centre Ribbed Wood Design is a purpose-made model, getting your measurements right guarantees a flawless, exact fit for your unique garage. Unlike standard doors that force you to compromise with clumsy infill panels or awkward gaps, this custom door is manufactured to your precise internal structural opening dimensions (your actual drive-through width and height). The steel installation frame is then calculated perfectly around these bespoke dimensions, ensuring every millimetre of your opening is utilized.

For quick visual reference, please refer to the 3D technical drawings lower down on this page. These clearly show how your custom frame will fit in relation to the opening.

Measuring for a 'Behind the Opening' Fit (Standard)

This is the ideal and most common way to install a purpose-made sectional door. By fitting the door and its steel framework entirely on the inner face of the garage wall, you maximize your drive-through width and achieve the cleanest possible exterior look.

  • Width: Measure the brick-to-brick width of your garage opening in several places. Because your door is bespoke, your exact ordering width is simply the smallest of these measurements.
  • Height: Measure from the finished floor level to the underside of the lintel. Your bespoke ordering height is this exact measurement.
  • Check your clearances: Because the custom frame sits behind the brickwork, you must ensure you have sufficient internal space. You will need a minimum of 85mm to 90mm of clear sideroom on both the left and right sides of the opening to accommodate the frame legs.
  • Check your headroom: You must also have a minimum of 120mm of clear headroom between the lintel and the ceiling to accommodate the top track and motor (this increases to 140mm for very large purpose-made doors requiring double springing).

Measuring for an 'Inbetween the Opening' Fit

If your garage lacks internal brickwork returns, the bespoke nature of this door is a huge advantage. It can be manufactured to sit perfectly directly between the brick pillars using the optional 'Inbetween Opening Installation Kit', maximizing the space you do have without overlapping the brickwork.

  • Width: Measure your brick-to-brick opening. Because the frame sits between the walls, to find your exact custom ordering width, you must deduct 180mm from this opening size (this precise deduction allows for the two frame legs and a perfect fitting tolerance).
  • Height: Measure your floor-to-lintel height. To find your exact ordering height, you must deduct 120mm (if installing a manual door or using the additional low-headroom bracket) or deduct 140mm (for standard electric operation without the special bracket).

Important Depth Check: Even a custom-sized sectional door travels horizontally into the garage space. It is essential to check that your garage is deep enough to accommodate the full length of the precise tracks and the motor boom. Ensure you have clear, unobstructed space running back into the garage equivalent to your custom door height plus approximately 350mm to 600mm.

If you have any doubts whatsoever about measuring for your purpose-made garage opening, please contact our expert team for verification before placing your bespoke order.
