Sectional Doors Steel GEAR TYPE: Sectional

Carteck Sectional doors fit to cater for every type of property.

The garage door sections travel vertically through a track by means of multiple rollers. As the sections are hinged the entire garage door rises upwards, through a tight curve and comes to rest in the garage ceiling space parallel to the garage floor, which means very little wall space is taken up by the garage door when it is in the open position.

Carteck Centre Ribbed Made to Measure Sectional Door in White

The Carteck Centre Ribbed insulated sectional door offers a timeless and versatile design, featuring a single horizontal rib across each panel that perfectly balances classic and contemporary styling. This specific model represents our fully made to measure offering, finished exclusively in a crisp and clean White. By being manufactured to your exact structural opening dimensions, it ensures a flawless fit and maximises your available drive through width and height. It delivers all the premium engineering, exceptional security and outstanding thermal performance that the CarTeck brand is renowned for, making it the perfect choice for a tailored and high quality garage upgrade.

Benefits of an insulated sectional door in the UK

An insulated CarTeck sectional door instantly upgrades a cold and draughty garage into a more usable and comfortable space, which is ideal for the wet and windy climate in the UK. The 40 mm thick insulated steel panels and full perimeter sealing keep out draughts, rain and dust far better than basic up and over doors. Vertical lift with no outward swing also makes parking easier on shorter driveways and frees up more room inside the garage.

Key features of a CarTeck sectional door

• 40 mm double skin insulated steel panels for strength and everyday durability.

• Independently tested whole door U value around 1.38 W/m²K on standard sizes.

• Full weather seals between panels, frame and threshold to cut draughts and moisture.

• Custom sized options with colour matched frames for a clean and premium finish.

• CE and UKCA marked and tested to current safety, wind, water and air performance standards.

Window and glazing options

Bring natural light into your garage and add style with a wide choice of factory fitted window designs and layouts. From simple square or rectangular units to contemporary shaped Bling windows and full width vision sections, you can tailor the look from traditional to ultra modern. Glazing uses double pane and scratch resistant polymer in clear, satin, frosted or tinted options so you can balance privacy with daylight.

Benefits of electric operation and control

Electric operation makes daily use effortless. You can open and close the door from the car at the touch of a button, which is perfect on dark and wet evenings. CarTeck DRIVE and MOTOR operators are smooth, quiet and powerful enough for all standard sizes, featuring force monitoring that stops and reverses if the door meets an obstruction. You can add handheld remotes, internal wall controls, wireless keypads and smart app control such as SOMweb or myQ for convenient access and status checking from your phone.

Colours and surface finishes

• One of the widest standard colour ranges on the market, including popular greys, whites, blacks, creams and realistic wood effects.

• Many models can be supplied in almost any RAL colour to match windows and entrance doors.

• Up to four external surface finishes such as smooth, woodgrain and textured are available on most doors, with no extra charge for choosing your preferred finish.

• Colour matched frames and optional frame covers complete the look.

Insulation, energy and integral garages

If your garage is attached to the house or has a room above, the improved insulation and tight weather stripping can help reduce heat loss and keep adjacent rooms more comfortable. A warmer and drier garage is far better for using the space as a gym, workshop or utility area and helps protect stored items from damp and condensation. Optional humidity controlled ventilation via the operator can automatically open the door slightly to dry out a wet car while still managing heat loss.

CarTeck spring mechanism and safety

Pre tensioned and concealed lifting springs alongside precision running gear give a smooth and well balanced action that feels light to operate and reduces strain on the motor. On larger doors, upgraded torsion springs and heavy duty hardware keep operation safe, stable and quiet even at very wide sizes. All doors and openers are tested together and CE and UKCA marked to BS EN 13241, so you benefit from a fully certified system rather than a mixed system setup.

Ordering Your Made to Measure Door

When ordering a made to measure sectional door, please select the nearest up to size from the drop down menus to generate your price. For example, if your required opening width is 2350 mm, you should select the Up to 2500 mm option.

Once you have selected your pricing band, you can input your exact required manufacturing dimensions into the designated text boxes provided. Please note that providing these exact dimensions is only required when you are ready to proceed with placing an order.

Door Colour Options

White textured finishes

In white, choose from a woodgrain, micrograin, stucco or smooth finish.

Frame Legs and Head

Choose the colour you require for the outer steel frame system. Although many sectional garage doors are fitted behind the garage opening so you do not see the sub frame, you will still see the edge of the frame where it has a small return section.

The standard colour is white. If any of the frame is showing or it is fitted inbetween the opening, you can contrast the frame colour to the door panel colour if required.

Installation Position

Tell us whether you are fitting the door behind or inbetween the structural opening.

Sectional garage doors were originally designed to install behind the structural opening of a garage, but it is now possible to fit the door inbetween if required. This is ideal for when there are no returns or there are internal obstacles.

Note: The sizes for ordering should be carefully calculated when fitting inbetween the opening. You will need to reduce the ordering width by the frame legs and head section along with a tolerance for fitting too. See our Measure tab for full details.

Inbetween Opening Installation Kit

If fitting the door inbetween the structural opening, you will need this kit. It contains a special set of brackets to securely fix the steel sub frame to the opening.

Choose Remote Control Operator Model

Carteck Drive 600NM Operator

We highly recommend the Carteck Drive 600Nm electric operator for the Carteck Sectional door range. The 600Nm is only a fraction more than the 500Nm, but it is 33% faster in opening speed and more powerful, making it our operator of choice for this door range.

  • Carteck Drive 600Nm: A one piece integrated unit with boom, motor and control in one unit to mount above the door.
  • Carteck Drive Pro 600Nm: Features a separate control unit that can be mounted wherever is most convenient in your garage.

Both systems have remote control operation as standard and an integrated courtesy LED light built in which operates when the motor is used and switches off automatically. Add options for additional control as required from our options list.

Emergency External Release

Essential for garages without a second entrance.

If you have no other means of access into your garage, we strongly advise you have an emergency manual release mechanism. It is a key cylinder operated from the outside of the door which provides a manual facility to disengage the motor drive from the door, enabling it to be lifted manually during a power failure.

Wireless 2 Function Wall Switch (Access Pack 2)

This is a remote control device in the form of a wall mounted 2 button switch to control one or two garage doors from inside your garage or home. It functions like a light switch but without any cables, operating via a battery remote control signal.

Parking Pack 1

Compatible with the CarTeck DRIVE and DRIVE PRO 600. Help find the perfect parking position in your garage easier with the CarTeck parking laser and reflector.

Bluetooth Door Operation

Control up to 10 electric operators with the SomWeb app, supporting voice control via Siri, Google Assistant and Alexa.

Somweb is the secure smart home solution where all data stays in your garage and enables you to control electric operators via a smartphone app, tablet or web browser.

Optional Extras

  • Handle: No external handle is fitted as standard. One will be required for a manually operated door.

Panel Construction

The door leaves feature an eight layer construction built around 40 mm thick panels made from twin 0.4 mm galvanised steel skins. These skins are bonded to a highly stable foam core with integrated thermal insulation and finished with highly effective adhesion primers and sealed top coatings for maximum wear resistance. This robust design achieves an impressive complete door thermal insulation U value of 1.38 W/m²K, while the individual panels themselves test at 0.56 W/m²K.
THis door is only offered in a white finish as a base price offering.

Weather Sealing

Comprehensive weather protection is achieved through flexible rubber sealing positioned at the frame header, down the frame sides and between every single door panel. A heavy duty rubber threshold seal sits at the bottom of the door, and Teckentrup can even manufacture a sloping bottom panel to precisely accommodate uneven garage floors. Additionally, a special plastic element separates the vertical frame sections from the floor to ensure the base aerates quickly and is protected against creeping dampness and corrosion.

Certified Performance

Every CarTeck sectional door is independently tested and CE and UKCA marked to guarantee compliance with all current safety and building legislation. The doors meet the heavy duty demands of everyday residential use and adhere to strict European performance standards.

Performance Characteristic European Standard CarTeck Rating
Resistance to Windload EN 12424 Class 2

Sizes Available

CarTeck sectional doors are manufactured to exact measurements to ensure a perfect fit for almost any garage opening, broken down into three main size categories:

  • Standard Range: The normal standard sizing covers door widths up to 5500 mm and door heights up to 3000 mm, offering a made to measure fit for the vast majority of residential double and single garages.
  • XL Range: When openings exceed the standard width, the XL sectional garage doors extend the available size from 5501 mm up to 6250 mm wide, with heights available up to 2500 mm.
  • SuperSize Range: For exceptionally large spans, SuperSize doors start above 5500 mm wide and can reach a massive 8000 mm wide in a single continuous span, with heights available up to 3000 mm.

Lifting Gear

Standard sized CarTeck doors employ market leading sectional lifting gear featuring fully concealed lifting springs that provide a remarkably quiet and smooth action. The XL and SuperSize models upgrade to rear mount torsion springs, heavy duty roller brackets and extra panel reinforcing profiles to safely manage the increased weight of the larger door leaves. Across all sizes, robust galvanised steel roller blocks and ball bearing runner rails guarantee a long service life with minimal operational noise.

Automation Systems

Teckentrup pairs these sectional doors with smart technology openers that actively monitor operational forces and will push back with 60 kg of force if forced entry is attempted. Integrated control units like the CarTeck DRIVE and CarTeck MOTOR series provide effortless operation with varying power levels, integrated LED lighting and smart home connectivity options.

Motor Model Pulling Force Operating Speed Lighting
CarTeck DRIVE 500 500 Nm 180 mm/sec 3 LED Motor Light
CarTeck DRIVE 600 600 Nm 240 mm/sec 6 LED Motor Light
CarTeck MOTOR L60 600 N 160 mm/sec 1 LED Motor Light
CarTeck MOTOR L75 750 N 200 mm/sec 1 LED Motor Light

Safer, Simpler Installation with Preloaded Tension Springs

Unlike many other sectional garage doors that rely on complex and potentially dangerous high-tension torsion springs mounted directly above the door, the CarTeck system utilises a far safer, multi-spring tension system.

To make installation as straightforward and safe as possible, all single layer spring trays for standard CarTeck doors are now supplied fully pre-assembled straight from the factory. The high level tension springs come preloaded within their fully enclosed steel trays, complete with the lifting cables already perfectly routed and retained by anti-twist brackets. This incredibly smart design not only prevents dirt from entering the mechanism, boosting durability, but it also dramatically speeds up the installation process on site. The multiple spring system evenly balances the weight of the door panels, whilst the dual retaining cables reliably support the door in all situations, meaning it remains safe and operational even in an emergency. Because the springs are safely housed within these steel channels, tensioning the door is significantly safer and easier than wrestling with an exposed torsion spring bar.

How to Measure for Your Made to Measure CarTeck Sectional Door

Measuring for a made to measure CarTeck sectional garage door ensures you get the absolute best fit for your garage, maximising your drive through width and height. Unlike standard size doors, these are manufactured to your exact specifications. All CarTeck sectional doors are ordered by their internal structural opening dimensions (the actual drive through width and height). The steel installation frame is always calculated as an addition or reduction to these internal dimensions, depending on your chosen installation position.

For quick visual reference, please refer to the 3D drawings located at the bottom of this page. These clearly show how the frame fits in relation to the opening.

Measuring for a Behind the Opening Fit (Standard)

This is the ideal and most common way to install a sectional door. The door and its steel framework sit entirely on the inner face of the garage wall, keeping the mechanics hidden and maximising the opening size.

  • Width: Measure the brick to brick width of your garage opening in several places. Your ordering width is simply the exact smallest of these measurements.
  • Height: Measure from the finished floor level to the underside of the lintel. Your ordering height is this exact measurement.
  • Check your clearances: Because the frame sits entirely behind the brickwork, you must ensure you have sufficient internal space. You will need a minimum of 85mm to 90mm of clear sideroom on both the left and right sides of the opening to accommodate the frame legs.
  • Check your headroom: You must also have a minimum of 120mm of clear headroom between the underside of the lintel and the ceiling to accommodate the top track and motor (this increases to 140mm for very large doors requiring double springing or if opting for XL and SuperSize dimensions).

Measuring for an Inbetween the Opening Fit

If you do not have internal brickwork returns, the door must be installed directly between the brick pillars using the optional Inbetween Opening Installation Kit.

  • Width: Measure your brick to brick opening. To find your exact ordering width, you must deduct 180mm from this opening size (this allows for the two frame legs and a necessary fitting tolerance).
  • Height: Measure your floor to lintel height. To find your exact ordering height, you must deduct 120mm (if installing a manual door or using the additional low headroom bracket) or deduct 140mm (for standard electric operation without the special bracket).

Important Depth Check

Sectional doors travel horizontally back into the garage space along the ceiling. It is essential to check that your garage is deep enough to accommodate the full length of the horizontal tracks and the motor boom. Ensure you have clear, unobstructed space running back into the garage equivalent to the height of the door plus approximately 350mm to 600mm.

If you have any doubts whatsoever about measuring your garage opening for a custom fit door, please contact our expert team for verification before placing your order.
