CarTeck GSA Vision: The Architectural Glass Sectional Garage Door
Introduce a striking, ultra-contemporary aesthetic to your property with the CarTeck GSA Vision. Designed for homeowners and architects seeking a premium glass garage door in the UK, the GSA Vision combines the thermal and security benefits of an automated sectional door with a highly distinctive, multi-windowed design. Constructed using high-grade aluminium profiles and scratch-resistant polymer double glazing, this made-to-measure doorset offers a sophisticated, minimalist look that enhances any modern home, garage conversion, or showroom.
The GSA Vision vs. The SLX Vision: What is the Difference?
While both models are built using the same premium 40mm hollow aluminium framework and 20mm polymer double glazing, the difference lies entirely in their aesthetic design and structural configuration.
The SLX Vision is designed to offer maximum uninterrupted panoramic views, using full-width glazing with minimal structural dividers (mullions). In contrast, the GSA Vision deliberately incorporates multiple vertical mullions across the door width. This creates a grid-like, multi-window appearance that delivers a highly sought-after, industrial-chic, and minimalist architectural style. Because of this multi-mullion grid structure, the GSA Vision can be manufactured to larger overall dimensions than the SLX, accommodating widths up to an impressive 5500mm.
A Grid Design Tailored to Your Opening
The distinctive grid pattern of the GSA Vision is automatically proportioned based on the specific width of your garage opening, ensuring perfect symmetry and structural strength. The number of vertical windows across the width is configured as follows:
2 windows wide: Doors up to 2235mm wide.
3 windows wide: Doors up to 2438mm wide.
4 windows wide: Doors up to 3353mm wide.
5 windows wide: Doors up to 4420mm wide.
6+ windows wide: Doors up to 5500mm wide.
Six Glazing Styles to Control Light and Privacy
The GSA Vision allows you to tailor the balance between natural light transmission and privacy. You can choose from six different 20mm scratch-resistant double-glazing options:
Clear: Maximum light transmission (approx. 70%) for a true showroom appearance.
Satin & Frosted: Obscured finishes that flood the garage with light while completely protecting your interior from prying eyes.
Tinted Options: Choose from Brown (50% transmission), Grey (43% transmission), or Green (70% transmission) for a stylish, cooler architectural look.
Ideal Applications for the GSA Vision
The GSA's multi-mullion design makes it incredibly popular for specific high-end applications:
Heritage and Industrial Conversions: The grid aesthetic perfectly mimics the look of traditional industrial steel windows (Crittall-style), making it ideal for converting older outbuildings or matching period-style architectural glazing.
Home Gyms and Studios: By using the Satin or Frosted glazing options, you can turn a dark garage into a bright, usable, and completely private room.
Wide Double Garages: Because the GSA Vision can be built up to 5500mm wide, it is the perfect glass door solution for large, luxury double garage openings.
Automated Operation and Space-Saving Engineering
The GSA Vision operates on CarTeck's market-leading concealed spring sectional lifting gear. The door opens vertically and travels backwards to rest parallel with the garage ceiling. This zero-outswing design means you can park vehicles directly against the door on both the driveway and inside the garage. The door is supplied to be fully automated as standard, offering whisper-quiet, smooth, and highly secure push-button operation.

Choose Door Panel Colour Finish:
Select your preferred powder coat colour finish for the outer framework on the door panels from a range of 16 Trend colours. RAL references are provided as a guide only to the nearest similar RAL colour; they will not perfectly match other RAL finishes due to different coating processes, gloss content, and surface textures. The surface finish for the door panel frames is smooth. Where the door is exposed to direct and lengthy sunlight, darker colours should be avoided.
Frame Legs and Head to Match Door Colour:
Choose the colour you require for the outer steel frame system. Although many sectional garage doors are fitted behind the garage opening (meaning the sub frame is largely hidden), you will still see the edge of the frame where it has a small return section. The standard colour is white. If any of the frame is showing, or if it is fitted in-between the opening, you can choose to match or contrast the frame colour to your door panel colour.
Door Panel Glazing Options:
Choose the glazing which is right for your application. All windows are double glazed as standard using a polymer scratch-resistant glazing for safety, security, and reduced weight. For the GSA door, you can choose between Clear, Satin, or Frosted glazing options.
Installation Position:
Tell us whether you are fitting the door behind or in-between the structural opening. Sectional garage doors were originally designed to install behind the structural opening of a garage, but it is now possible to fit the door in-between if required (e.g., when there are no returns or there are internal obstacles). Ordering sizes must be carefully calculated when fitting in-between, reducing the ordering width by the frame legs and head section, alongside a tolerance for fitting. See our 'Measure' tab for full details.
In-between Opening Installation Kit:
If fitting the door in-between the structural opening, you will need this kit to securely fix the steel sub frame to the opening using a special set of bracketry.
Choose Remote Control Operator Model (Included in Package):
We have included the CarTeck Drive 600Nm electric operator as standard in this electric sectional door package. The 600Nm model is only a fraction more than the 500Nm but is 33% faster in opening speed and noticeably more powerful, making it our operator of choice for this door range.
The standard CarTeck Drive 600Nm is a one-piece integrated unit with the boom, motor, and control housed together to mount above the door. Alternatively, the Drive Pro 600Nm features a separate control unit that can be mounted wherever is most convenient on your garage wall. Both systems feature remote control operation and an integrated courtesy LED light that operates automatically when the motor is used. You can add additional controls from our options list.
Emergency External Release (for garages without a second entrance):
If you have no other means of pedestrian access into your garage, we strongly advise adding an emergency manual release mechanism. This is a key cylinder operated from the outside of the door, providing a manual facility to disengage the motor drive, enabling you to lift the door by hand in the event of a power failure.
Wireless 2-Function Wall Switch (Access Pack 2):
This is a remote control device in the form of a wall-mounted 2-button switch. It allows you to control one or two garage doors from inside your garage or home. It looks like a standard light switch but requires no cables, as it uses a battery-powered remote control signal.
Parking Pack 1:
Compatible with the CarTeck DRIVE / DRIVE PRO 600, this pack helps you find the perfect parking position in your garage using a CarTeck parking laser and reflector. See the information leaflet here.
Bluetooth Smart Door Operation (SOMweb):
SOMweb is a secure smart home solution that enables you to control up to 10 electric operators via a smartphone app, tablet, or web browser. All data stays securely in your garage. It also supports voice control via Siri, Google Assistant, and Alexa. App control features include:
Use voice commands to open or close your garage.
Operate up to 10 doors from a single SOMweb hub.
Receive real-time notifications of door movements via the app.
Optional video function via a video plug-in for live streaming of the door.
CarTeck GSA Vision Technical Specification
The CarTeck GSA Vision is a premium architectural glass sectional door. Engineered by Teckentrup in Germany, it features a distinctive grid-mullion design that not only provides a highly sought-after industrial aesthetic but also grants the door exceptional structural stability, allowing it to be manufactured to oversized dimensions.
Panel Construction and Glazing
The door sections are manufactured using 40mm thick hollow extruded aluminium profiles, which provide a robust, lightweight, and highly stable framework. The vision panels are fitted with 20mm thick polymer double glazing. This polymer material is used specifically because it is highly scratch-resistant, durable, and significantly lighter and safer than traditional glass, ensuring reliable long-term operation of the lifting gear.
Oversized Sizing Capabilities
Because the GSA Vision integrates multiple vertical structural mullions across the width of the door panel, it boasts superior rigidity compared to standard full-vision doors. This allows the GSA Vision to be manufactured for much larger openings. It is available in made-to-measure sizes up to a massive 5500mm wide and 3000mm high, making it the perfect solution for luxury double garages.
Mullion Configuration
The distinctive vertical window grid is automatically calculated based on the width of the door ordered, ensuring structural safety and visual symmetry:
Doors up to 2235mm wide: 2 windows across
Doors up to 2438mm wide: 3 windows across
Doors up to 3353mm wide: 4 windows across
Doors up to 4420mm wide: 5 windows across
Doors up to 5500mm wide: 6+ windows across
Lifting Gear and Mechanics
The door utilises CarTeck's advanced sectional lifting mechanism. The lifting springs are entirely concealed high within the horizontal tracks, ensuring the internal aesthetics remain clean and safe. The door opens vertically and travels backwards to rest flush against the ceiling, requiring zero outward swing and maximising space on your driveway.
Safety and Certification
As a fully automated door system, safety is paramount. All CarTeck sectional doors are independently tested to meet stringent European safety standards. They feature finger-safe panel profiles, anti-drop safety devices, and obstacle detection (when paired with CarTeck Drive operators). Every doorset is fully CE marked to EN 13241.
Performance Characteristics
As part of the CE marking certification process, the CarTeck GSA Vision has been independently tested to provide certified performance ratings across a defined set of characteristics:

Note: The operating forces figure relates to the manual effort required to move the door in the event of a power failure when the emergency release has been engaged.
Installing a CarTeck GSA or SLX Vision sectional door follows the same fundamental, well-proven tracking and lifting mechanics as standard steel sectional doors. Any experienced tradesperson or competent DIY installer familiar with sectional garage doors will find the process straightforward. However, due to the premium materials used, there are a few specific handling considerations to keep in mind for a smooth installation.
1. Handling the Glazed Panels
While the 20mm polymer double glazing is significantly lighter and safer than traditional glass, the 40mm extruded aluminium framework makes these panels more rigid and slightly heavier than standard foam-filled steel panels. We always recommend a two-person lift to carefully guide the panels into the horizontal tracks. To protect the high-quality factory powder coating, always rest the panels on soft, non-abrasive materials (such as padded trestles or heavy blankets) prior to fitting.
2. Ensuring a Perfectly Square Frame
Because the aluminium and polymer panels are highly rigid, they do not flex. It is therefore crucial that the steel vertical and horizontal tracking system is installed perfectly plumb, level, and square. Taking extra time to ensure your tracking is perfectly aligned will guarantee the rigid panels glide smoothly without binding, and that the weather strips seal perfectly against the framework.
3. Balancing the Springs
The CarTeck Vision range utilises a neat, concealed tension spring system located within the high-level tracks. Because the panel weights differ slightly from standard steel doors, pay close attention to the manufacturer's tensioning guidelines. You want to ensure the door is balanced precisely so that it holds its position when manually disengaged, which ensures your electric operator runs effortlessly.
4. Removing the Protective Film
The polymer double glazing is supplied with a protective transit film. Because polymer can be scratched by sharp metal objects, please do not use Stanley knives or metal scrapers near the glazing to remove this film. Simply peel the film away carefully by hand once the installation is completely finished and the surrounding area is free from construction dust.
Please note: This is a general overview. Always fully read and follow the official CarTeck installation manual provided with your doorset before beginning the installation.
