When you want a garage door that balances timeless design with heavy duty performance, the narrow ribbed styling is incredibly hard to beat. Because this specific model sits within CarTeck's massive range of preset factory dimensions, you get all the engineering benefits of a premium German door without the lead times or price tag of a fully bespoke build. It is the most efficient way to secure a typical UK single or double garage opening.
The Standard Ribbed design features tightly spaced horizontal lines running consistently from top to bottom. It is a brilliant visual trick that gives the large steel face of the door a subtle, textured appearance. This styling is incredibly forgiving on everyday dirt and watermarks, and it looks just as smart against a newly rendered extension as it does on a period red brick property. You are getting a door that looks understated and elegant from the driveway, while hiding a serious 40mm insulated steel core behind it.
Why buy this door: If your garage opening matches standard dimensions and you want a highly secure, draught proof door with a classic narrow ribbed pattern that suits almost any style of house, this factory sized model is the most straightforward, cost effective choice.

CarTeck Standard Ribbed Insulated Sectional Garage Door
The CarTeck Standard Ribbed model in preset standard sizes is the most straightforward way to upgrade a typical UK garage. If your brickwork opening matches standard dimensions, picking a door straight from this vast factory range gives you premium German engineering without paying for a custom build. The styling uses closely spaced horizontal lines that run right across the door panels. This narrow ribbed pattern is a timeless choice, sitting just as comfortably on a modern new build as it does on a traditional nineteen thirties semi detached house. It breaks up the flat steel visually, giving the door a subtle texture that masks everyday dust and dirt brilliantly.
Why buy this door: Pick this door if your opening matches standard dimensions and you want a highly secure, thermally efficient garage door with a classic narrow ribbed design that looks great on any property style.
Why an insulated sectional door makes sense
British weather throws a bit of everything at a garage, so having a 40mm thick insulated steel panel makes a massive difference. When you close the door, the thick insulated core and the heavy duty rubber seals around all four edges trap the warmth inside and physically block out wind and driving rain. Because the door panels lift vertically and roll back into the roof space, you never have to worry about the door swinging outwards. You can park your car right up against the garage face, which is a huge advantage for properties with restricted driveway space.
Key features of the Standard Ribbed door
- Preset standard sizing: A huge range of factory dimensions designed to fit typical UK single and double garages perfectly, saving you the cost of a bespoke build
- Industry leading colour options: The widest choice of standard finished colours for any sectional garage door on the market, ready to suit any UK property
- Serious physical security: 40mm double skin insulated steel panels create a highly rigid barrier that stands up brilliantly to everyday knocks and deters break ins
- Tested thermal performance: Keeps the cold out with an independently tested whole door U value of 1.38 W/m²K on standard sizes
- Complete weather sealing: Heavy duty rubber seals sit between every panel, along the floor threshold, and down the side frame legs to stop draughts dead
- Fully certified: Independently tested and CE and UKCA marked to meet current safety, wind, and water performance standards under BS EN 13241
Window and glazing options
Bringing natural daylight into a dark garage is easy with the factory fitted window options. The narrow ribbed design accommodates glazing units neatly, allowing you to add standard square or rectangular windows that line up with the horizontal styling perfectly. If you want something a bit different, stainless steel portholes are also available. All the windows use a tough, scratch resistant double pane polymer. You can specify clear, frosted, satin, or tinted finishes to make sure you get exactly the right level of privacy from the pavement outside.
Electric automation and active security
Opening the garage in the pouring rain is a thing of the past when you pair this door with a CarTeck DRIVE or MOTOR electric operator. These motors are incredibly quiet and feature an intelligent force monitoring system that instantly stops and backs up if the door touches an obstruction. They also act as a highly effective physical lock. If an intruder attempts to force the door upwards, the motor actively pushes back down with 60kg of resistance. You can control the door using traditional handheld remotes, wall switches, wireless keypads, or even straight from your mobile phone using the SOMweb or myQ smart home apps.
Colours and exterior finishes
- 50 standard UK colours: A carefully selected range of finishes that covers all the heavily requested greys, blacks, traditional creams, and highly realistic wood effects
- Custom RAL matching: If you need to match a very specific aluminium window frame or composite front door, the panels can be painted in almost any custom RAL shade
- Choice of surface textures: Depending on your colour choice, the narrow ribbed panels can be finished in various textures including smooth, stucco, or woodgrain at no extra cost
- Frame matching: To ensure a neat finish against your brickwork, colour matched side frame legs and header profiles are available to order
Springs and precision running gear
For all these standard sizes up to 5500mm wide, the counterbalancing lifting springs are pre tensioned and safely concealed in a tray high up above the horizontal tracks. This clever design keeps the springs away from dust and out of your working space. The running gear utilizes strong galvanised steel roller blocks with high quality ball bearing wheels. This ensures the door travels smoothly up the tracks without rattling, taking the physical strain off the electric motor and ensuring the system lasts for years. Everything is tested as a complete package before getting its CE and UKCA safety marks.
Parking Pack 1
Parking Pack 1 is compatible with the CarTeck DRIVE/ DRIVE PRO 600. Help find the perfect parking position in your garage easier with the CarTeck parking laser and reflector. See information leaflet hereChoose Door Panel Colour Finish:
Create an elegant look with this modern steel door in a classic wood effect in either Golden oak, Rosewood, Night oak or Winchester.
Frame legs and Head to match door colour:
Choose the colour you require for the outer steel frame system. Although many sectional garage doors are fitted behind the garage opening so you don’t see the sub frame you will still see the edge of the frame where it has a small return section. Standard colour is white and if any of the frame is showing or it is fitted inbetween you can contrast the door colour to the door panel colour if required.
Installation Position:
Tell us whether you are fitting the door behind or inbetween the structural opening.
Sectional garage doors were originally designed to install behind the structural opening of a garage but it is now possible to fit the door inbetween if required – when there are no returns, internal obstacles, etc.
The sizes for ordering should be carefully calculated when fitting inbetween the opening reducing the ordering width by the frame legs and head section along with a tolerance for fitting too. See our ‘Measure’ tab for full details.
Inbetween Opening Installation Kit:
If fitting the door inbetween the structural opening you will need this kit to secure the steel sub frame to the opening with the special set of bracketry.
Choose Remote Control Operator Model
We highly recommend the Carteck Drive 600Nm electric operator for the Carteck Sectional door range. The 600NM is only a fraction more than the 500Nm but it is 33% faster in opening speed and more powerful too obviously and hence our operator of choice for this door range.
The standard Carteck Drive 600Nm is a one piece integrated unit with boom, motor and control in one unit to mount above the door. The Drive Pro 600Nm has a separate control unit than can be mounted wherever is most convenient in your garage to suit.
Both systems have remote control operation as standard and both have an integrated courtesy LED light built in which operated when the motor is used and switches off automatically. Add options for additional control as required from our options list
Emergency External Release for garages with a second entrance:
If you have no other means of access into your garage then we strongly advise you have an emergency manual release mechanism. It is a key cylinder operated from the outside of the door which provides a manual facility to disengage the motor drive from the door enabling the door to be lifted manually when there is a power failure.
Wireless 2 function Wall Switch:
This is a remote control device in the form of a wall mounted 2 button switch to control one or 2 garage doors from inside your garage or home. Like a light switch but without and cables and a battery remote control signal for operation. (Called Access Pack 2).
Control door via app
Use voice commands to open or close your garage
Up to 10 operators with one SomWeb
Receive notifications of door movements via app.
Optional video function via video plug in with live stream of door movement.

Designed and Manufactured for the UK Market
CarTeck sectional doors are highly engineered to meet the specific demands of UK homeowners. Manufactured with precision, they are ideally suited for the British climate, offering exceptional weather resistance, security, and thermal efficiency. Unique to the market, CarTeck provides more standard width and height sizes than any other sectional door available, easily covering openings from 2 metres up to a massive 8 metres wide, and up to 3 metres high. In addition to their vast standard sizing, every model is also available as a purpose made, exact to measure fit, ensuring a seamless installation for any garage.
Panel Construction
The door leaves feature an eight layer construction built around 40mm thick panels made from twin 0.4mm galvanised steel skins. These skins are bonded to a highly stable foam core with integrated thermal insulation and finished with highly effective adhesion primers and sealed top coatings for maximum wear resistance. This robust design achieves an impressive complete door thermal insulation U-value of 1.38 W/m²K, while the individual panels themselves test at 0.56 W/m²K.
Weather Sealing
Comprehensive weather protection is achieved through flexible rubber sealing positioned at the frame header, down the frame sides, and between every single door panel. A heavy duty rubber threshold seal sits at the bottom of the door, and Teckentrup can even manufacture a sloping bottom panel to precisely accommodate uneven garage floors. Additionally, a special plastic element separates the vertical frame sections from the floor to ensure the base aerates quickly and is protected against creeping dampness and corrosion.
Certified Performance
Every CarTeck sectional door is independently tested and CE and UKCA marked to guarantee compliance with all current safety and building legislation. The doors meet the heavy duty demands of everyday residential use and adhere to strict European performance standards.
| Performance Characteristic | European Standard | CarTeck Rating |

Sizes Available
CarTeck sectional doors are manufactured to exact measurements to ensure a perfect fit for almost any garage opening, broken down into three main size categories:
• Standard Range: The normal standard sizing covers door widths up to 5500mm and door heights up to 3000mm, offering a made to measure fit for the vast majority of residential double and single garages.
• XL Range: When openings exceed the standard width, the XL sectional garage doors extend the available size from 5501mm up to 6250mm wide, with heights available up to 2500mm.
• SuperSize Range: For exceptionally large spans, SuperSize doors start above 5500mm wide and can reach a massive 8000mm wide in a single continuous span, with heights available up to 3000mm.
Installation Position and Measuring Deductions
The standard installation position is fitting within the reveal, with no holes required in the frame.
Fitting Between the Opening:
If you are fitting your sectional door in between the brickwork opening, an Inbetween Opening Installation Kit is required to adapt the steel frame, which is designed as standard for behind fitting. When fitted inbetween, the frame legs will have a series of factory drilled holes showing which will require a cloaking strip (not provided). You must deduct 180mm from your structural opening width to determine your final ordering width. You must also ensure you leave adequate tolerance for fitting.
Height Deductions:
Deduct 140mm from your opening height to determine the ordering height for an electrically operated door. If you are purchasing the additional twist fix header bracket, this deduction reduces to 120mm. For a manually operated door, the deduction is 120mm.
Please Note: For any door heights over 2250mm, the frame legs cannot be supplied undrilled.
Between Opening Fit Sectional Doors - More Information >
Optional Extras
Handle: No external handle is fitted as standard. A handle will be required if the door is to be manually operated.
External Emergency Release: Fitted as standard in the top left hand corner of all doors.
Lifting Gear
Standard sized CarTeck doors employ market leading sectional lifting gear featuring fully concealed lifting springs that provide a remarkably quiet and smooth action. The XL and SuperSize models upgrade to rear mount torsion springs, heavy duty roller brackets, and extra panel reinforcing profiles to safely manage the increased weight of the larger door leaves. Across all sizes, robust galvanised steel roller blocks and ball bearing runner rails guarantee a long service life with minimal operational noise.
Automation Systems
Teckentrup pairs these sectional doors with smart technology openers that actively monitor operational forces and will push back with 60kg of force if forced entry is attempted. Integrated control units like the CarTeck DRIVE and CarTeck MOTOR series provide effortless operation with varying power levels, integrated LED lighting, and smart home connectivity options.
CarTeck Drive 600N: The CarTeck Drive 600N can lift any size door in the standard range. The integrated drive and control unit fits discreetly above the door, and its fixed chain drive is quieter and renowned for long term reliability compared to revolving chain or belt designs.
Safer, Simpler Installation with Preloaded Tension Springs
Unlike many other sectional garage doors that rely on complex and potentially dangerous high-tension torsion springs mounted directly above the door, the CarTeck system utilises a far safer, multi-spring tension system.
To make installation as straightforward and safe as possible, all single layer spring trays for standard CarTeck doors are now supplied fully pre-assembled straight from the factory. The high level tension springs come preloaded within their fully enclosed steel trays, complete with the lifting cables already perfectly routed and retained by anti-twist brackets. This incredibly smart design not only prevents dirt from entering the mechanism, boosting durability, but it also dramatically speeds up the installation process on site. The multiple spring system evenly balances the weight of the door panels, whilst the dual retaining cables reliably support the door in all situations, meaning it remains safe and operational even in an emergency. Because the springs are safely housed within these steel channels, tensioning the door is significantly safer and easier than wrestling with an exposed torsion spring bar.

How to Measure for Your New CarTeck Sectional Door
Measuring for a sectional garage door is straightforward once you understand how the dimensions work. All CarTeck sectional doors are ordered by their internal structural opening dimensions (the actual drive through width and height). Unlike some other door types, the steel installation frame is always calculated as an addition or reduction to these internal dimensions, depending on your chosen installation position.
For quick visual reference, please refer to the 3D technical drawings lower down on this page. These clearly show how the frame fits in relation to the opening.
Measuring for a 'Behind the Opening' Fit (Standard)
This is the ideal and most common way to install a sectional door. The door and its steel framework sit entirely on the inner face of the garage wall.
- Width: Measure the brick to brick width of your garage opening in several places. Your ordering width is simply the smallest of these measurements.
- Height: Measure from the finished floor level to the underside of the lintel. Your ordering height is this exact measurement.
- Check your clearances: Because the frame sits behind the brickwork, you must ensure you have sufficient internal space. You will need a minimum of 85mm to 90mm of clear sideroom on both the left and right sides of the opening to accommodate the frame legs.
- Check your headroom: You must also have a minimum of 120mm of clear headroom between the lintel and the ceiling to accommodate the top track and motor (this increases to 140mm for very large doors requiring double springing).
Measuring for an 'Inbetween the Opening' Fit
If you do not have internal brickwork returns, the door must be installed directly between the brick pillars using the optional 'Inbetween Opening Installation Kit'.
- Width: Measure your brick to brick opening. To find your ordering width, you must deduct 180mm from this opening size (this allows for the two frame legs and a fitting tolerance).
- Height: Measure your floor to lintel height. To find your ordering height, you must deduct 120mm (if installing a manual door or using the additional low-headroom bracket) or deduct 140mm (for standard electric operation without the special bracket).
Important Depth Check: Sectional doors travel horizontally into the garage space. It is essential to check that your garage is deep enough to accommodate the full length of the tracks and the motor boom. Ensure you have clear, unobstructed space running back into the garage equivalent to the height of the door plus approximately 350mm to 600mm.
If you have any doubts whatsoever about measuring your garage opening, please contact our team for verification before placing your order.
